Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down Ahsoka Episode 8.

The finale is here and throughout this video we're gonna be going over the easter eggs, hidden details and things you might have missed in it. We'll also be discussing out thoughts on the series and going over where we think things will be going for the future of filonis trilogy.

Now last week saw Thrawn taking his first real defeat on Peredia after Ahsoka showed up to save Sabine and Ezra. Was a bit of a cope though cos man said he actually wanted to lose cos they'd now had enough time to fill up his ship the chimera. Clearly he's been set on returning to the main universe which comes to pass during this entry. He also seemed pretty worried about Anakin who we'll talk more about later on in the video.
Baylan ended up bailing on Shin and the two parted ways with her getting an offer she could refuse. I know the episode got a bit of hate online but they kinda needed it to set things up for this one so we can get into whats a big loss on the horizon for the new republic.
Anyway that should be you fully caught up and we begin by looking at the back end of the Chimera. I love how we get a lot of focus on its engines and you can see that the main two are destroyed.

People say they don't want Baylans character to be recast but my thoughts align exactly as you said. Yes, it will be hard to fill his shoes but I truly believe it's the best way to honor him and the extraordinary job he's done. By finishing his story and honoring his legacy. Hera finally seeing seeing Ezra hit me right in the feels the same way when Sabine saw him. I think the Night Sisters might start having second thoughts about their arrangement with Thrawn. He blasted their temple and basically used Morgan as a pawn. He abandoned her and left her to get killed, There might be some retribution in store in Season Two.

the way the night sister look at Thrawn when he ordered to destroy the temple hints that they will make him pay for it later on maybe ordering Enoch to strike Thrawn in the back when he is of no longer use to them.

I can see it being Abeloth, and just seeing the destroyed statue engraved on the mountain makes one uneasy. Also, those wolves with the creepy grin reminded me of the elongated Glasgow smile Abeloth has in fanart. Maybe she has influenced the wildlife on the planet as well.

The daughter statue was missing, which from the Mortis Arc, the Son was trying to kill the Daughter so that the Dark Side would prevail, which echoes the fact that the Dark Side destroyed Peridia. This is one thing that I hope they continue to narrate in the following content.

Towards the end, after Ahsoka dismounts the howler to greet the Noti, you can clearly see both Lightsabers hanging from her belt. The short Lightsaber on her left side, the one that was sliced in half by Morgan Elsbeth only moments earlier appears to be fully intact. They didn't show her picking it up as Sabine picked up her helmet on the fortress platform before it came down. It seems her broken Lightsaber went down with the fortress, and yet moments later, it's clipped on her belt fully intact.. Weird that.

good continuity error catch. It nakes me think the wolf scenes as filmed were intended to be earlier and they had to edit some into the end of the episode to fill space after having cut out some baylan stuff they won't be able to follow up on with the actor gone/

Ahsoka was amazing! Felt like I was watching Rebels all over again and Dave Faloni is a master. All of the tie in's to everything, Visions, Rebels, Clone Wars, Mando, all of the episodes, Video Games, the old republic, it was just pure beauty. Felt like a kid again and honestly felt privileged to watch this series. This is how a series should be made. I have no quarrels, Ahsoka was amazing! Thank you Faloni, thank you!

Honestly, I felt pretty underwhelmed after the season finale. I've been thinking each episode "wow, these are lots of interesting storylines, how will they possibly tie them up by the end?", and I felt I was left with more questions than answers. I think it's an amazing series, and I may just want more/longer episodes and less hand-waving, more questions keep getting introduced and left unanswered. I realize they may have had to retcon lots of scenes last minute, maybe unable to tie off Baylan's story like they planned. Also, I was really not happy with hand-waving away Ezra's escape back to the fleet, while it was a fun humorous callback to Rebels and dressing up as stormtroopers, nothing about the journey or escape was shown. Maybe they'll touch on this in the second season.

I too was suprised that somehow ezra escaped thrawn star destroyer, like did the jedi ship enter thrawn star destroyer in rebels? It wouldn't make any sense why an jedi ship is on the star destroyer. And none of the other imperial small ships have hyperdrives so there is no way ezra could escape.

Sad that Stevenson passed away. He really was bought in and did a great job. The casting of all the Rebels characters was good as well. I could believe each of them were the characters from the cartoon. I also thought that Ashoka/Anakin stuff was enjoyable and did contribute to character development for Ashoka. But nobody is talking about Lars Mikelson! I thought his delivery of lines in that perfect Thrawn voice he did on Rebels was great. And his elegant shit talking to Ashoka right before he dips out has me pumped for him as the big bad for these Star Wars shows. Very good understated performance. He really gets Thrawn.

When I wake up in the states I always know Paul’s video will already be up. I wish we got more Baylon and Shin stuff that’s my gripe. Also I don’t get all the Sabine hate because she’s such a good character IMO. (I loved the Rebels show) One more I also actually thought when the Blade of Talzin came out, Ashoka was gonna die. Other theories out there include Shin being the Mara Jade equivalent. Thank you again Dave Filoni for not discounting those twenty years of Legends novels! Remember, the Mortis Dagger is still out there somewhere. Still, the highlight of this season for me was Ahsoka's eyes briefly turning Sith yellow before she came back.

Just somthing I noticed with the night troopers. If they are already all dead it feels like when they are first resurrected again they are well for lack of a better word dumb as a bag of rocks. You can see them banging on the closed blast doors and grabbing for their enemies. However, as time passes they start using blasters and eventually even cut open the blast door and as they go through seem to be walking normally almost like their brain recovers with time. I guess you could even apply this to the fact that I don't think the zombies we saw resurrected could fly tie fighters they didn't seem to have the motor functions when they were resurrected. Just found that interesting.

in reference to the Midicholorians, i don't think it was to gatekeep the Force to bloodlines, but rather to explain why not everyone uses the Force like the Sith and Jedi do. everyone has the potential to use it, as Sabine has shown, but the higher the Midicholorian count, the more proficient you are at it and how much easier manipulating it is. hmm... now i'm wondering what the count is for Han, Poe, and Finn

Next season they DESPERATELY need to improve the choreography. Put the actors in sword/kendo training 3 months prior to shooting so they can be more fluid and sharp. The bad light saber fighting is becoming distracting

Exactly my thoughts as well. This was extremely bad. Ezra, after a long absence, is re-introduced and with that, some build up for his first fight scene as a Force user. Even his non-light saber fights were uninspiring. Two hands and struggling. It's not only the choreography - it's the direction and editing.

Have Shin enter the world between worlds with the night sisters to see how powerful she can become, they also want to replace Morgan or use Shin's soul to resurrect Morgan, and she is further consumed by the dark/witch side they give her the same speech they gave Morgan Elsbeth, Baylan tries to grab her out similar to how Ezra saved Ahsoka...In that process Baylan 's arm is cut off by the closing portal and his face is also compromised. He now wears a mask to keep him alive like Vader.

This show has consistently had amazing fight choreography. I love the fluid style and the fact that it's not just hitting each other's blade - one of my pet peeves is fighters ignoring obvious openings in each other's defense just to make noise with the blades.

I really enjoyed the whole series. Ray Stevenson was such a standout as Baylon. I do believe the character should continue but I have no idea how they will replace him. He was that good. Loved both the Ezra and Sabine characters. Glad they brought in Anakin too as it made Ashoka’s character more complete. Well done Filoni and team!

Am I the only one that felt like the finale was a huge let down? I mean for me its how Disney finally turned Star Wars into Marvel. There was no satisfying conclusion to this. It felt like a weird switch up from filoni Esrza is now back in the main universe to stare in the Heir to the Empire movie and Ashoko season 2 is sidelined into another universe and will tell a story that does not influence the sequel canon in any way. Its the same how i feel to newer Marvel series.. in the end it will not be important to watch Ashoka anymore once the Mando movie is released because it really does not tell anything that you need to know when you watch the movie and Season 2 will tell another story that only barely connects to season 1 if ever released.. and i am really not intrested enough to see how baylans story develops to be honest. Overall this season felt like much teasing and not much behind it.. and i really was frustrated in the end by all the theorys here on yt. I dont know how they came all up with Darth Maul or even Luke would be in it.. I mean i do not expected it but the end felt like a huge let down at least we got a little bit of Thrawn.

Force Ghost Anakin is probably sad he has to come to Ahsoka in this situation, where something terrible is on the horizon. Or just the sadness that comes with seeing Ahsoka again, seeing how far she's evolved from the Padawan he once knew. Plus the sadness and regret knowing how much pain and suffering he brought to the galaxy as Vader, when his apprentice went on to become the Jedi that Anakin could have been.

I think they had to change the finale b/c unfortunately Ray Stevenson's no longer w/us 😥 I think that's why it's not as dynamic or groundbreaking for some: They relied on more predictable scenarios...leaving room for these stories to be continued in another season or different venue. Hard to go into details w/o spoilers but there BETTER be a Season 2 to make the last 8 eps worthwhile!!!

If Lucasfilm have learned anything from TROS [and they probably haven't] they should RECAST Baylan, and honor the actor by continuing to serve the character he embodied as intended, and not just try to write him out or fudge existing footage into different scenes they were never originally in.

The worst part of the show was definitely the acting by Dawson, Winstead, and Bordizzo. Seriously, the show was incredibly painful to watch when these 3 were on screen together (unless they were showing Hera from the back). Rosario was the worst, taking very large unnecessary pauses. I am sure part of this had to do with the script, but I am even more sure that it had to do with the acting. Despite that, the baddies were all great, the effects were superb, and the score was pretty solid.

I think Ahsoka is going to show why Luke's school ultimately failed. The Balkan Jedi learned flexibility that Luke wouldn't allow because he desired to be like the Jedi of the Republic. He lacked a mentor that saw the promise and the flaws as his masters were Yoda and Obi-Wan. Not throwing hate on this one. This is where I was hoping episode 9 would go with Jedi culture in general.

i overall really enjoyed this season, however I think it would have delivered better if it was animated. Some elements need to be delivered better but this series really brought me onto what Dave has planned.

The First Order never really rose up, did you not watch those movies? They were an under the radar group who were building numbers and took a shot at the new republic during the events of the TFA. They blew up a few planets, had Snoke in the shadows calling the shots, but they never took over the galaxy. Leia was leading The Resistance a splinter group from the New Rupublic trying to locate and take them down, as well as find her brother and try to turn her son back. But the First Order was never in full control of the galaxy, they were more concerned about snuffing out Luke, Leia, and the last remaining players from the old guard. Palpatine’s body was disintegrating in Ep IX because his host clone body couldn’t contain his force power, he was too powerful and strong for that body. They told us that already.

Can anyone answer why Morgan elsbeth died? I'm only asking because she got a level up and became the dark mother or Shadow mother which was the title of mother Towson and mother Towson was a hell of a lot harder to kill then that, she could teleport herself and make force fields and stuff.... So when she got the level up and thrawn told her to stay behind I just assumed that she would be able to teleport herself back to dathomir like mother Towson did in clone wars .....

The anakin ghost was significant but i wanted to see more shin or even where ezra escapes because we are just seeing right now thrawn is letting alot of things slip. And Baylans situation is sad but theres not much they can do.

I enjoyed the show and im really really excited for the next season but I have three serious problems: 1. the plot armor of good guys makes the bad guys really pathetic. The tie fighters should have at least obliterated some noti. It made the show lack stakes and it makes Thrawn seem not very dangerous. 2. The pacing of all the shows are way too slow. It feels like this show should have been 6 episodes. 3. I vehemently disagree with the Sabine Jedi arc. i think it goes against all we know about her character and her abilities. it feels cheap, like even if you have very little force sensitivity you can become a jedi if you have a jedi friend to teach you

I think once Ballan enters the (presumed) Mortis temple, perhaps through a World-Between-Worlds portal or annex, he emerges in the Mortis realm a much younger version of himself. This not only allows his character to be recast, but may also set up Ballan as being a replacement for one of the gods. So in Season 2, you see Ballan only from behind until he emerges from the portal and then his new younger persona takes over. I think that's one of the few ways they can continue the character without writing him out of the script entirely, which would be a shame because he was clearly one of the most compelling figures we've gotten in the Disney Star Wars era.

@@chibakutensei8799 There are two very inescapable things that the show has to contend with. First, Ray Stephenson is dead. He won't be reprising this role. So if the character is going to continue in any meaningful way, they have to recast because the cost of reproducing him digitally from here out is going to be prohibitively expensive, and they're still trying to come to grips with the technology so folks don't get weirded out. There's also the digital rights that Ray's estate has over his image and likeness, but that's for another day. Second, he's at some sort of Mortis shrine. This after spending the entire season talking about a "power" that cannot be fathomed. He is neither Jedi nor Sith, but somewhere betwixt the two (rather like the Father.) The daughter is already "dead" or at least transformed (as evidenced by the crumbled statue of her at the shrine.) The Clone Wars strongly hinted that Ahsoka herself is something of an avatar of the Daughter now, since the Daughter laid down her own life to save Ahsoka's during that whole story arch. I'm just trying to figure out how the writers are going to propel the story and the character without Ray going forward. If you have a better theory, let's hear it.

I think perhaps a cooler ending to Episode 8 was already shot, and it included more scenes with Ray, but since his death they cut that part out and are now saving it for Season 2 Episode 1 to show this Baylan transformation but still have Ray in it at the very beginning before the change/recast.

Ezra stealing a walkie-talkie and Stormtrooper suit was classic Ezra. Sabine splitting off and rejoining is fitting, too. The casting department hit a homerun. I enjoyed the Clone Wars, Rebels & Fallen Order Easter Eggs, the spooky Nightsister stuff, the World Between Worlds, and the series in general. I look forward to season 2.

Also should be noted. When Ezra has the same emiter with his master, and jedi is often considered similar with samurai, that means Ezra's sword has the same Tsuba with his master. And a Tsuba(katana handguard) is considered as "The Soul" of a samurai. Or in this case a Jedi. So, basically, it means Ezra carries with him the same "soul" as Kanan Jarrus. For whatever "soul" here defined as. Perhaps philosophy, perhaps goals, perhaps knowledge, perhaps literal soul.

I think a lot of people don't know that it was Ahsoka who encouraged Ezra to be able to fight without a lightsaber shortly after he constructed his first lightsaber; because, according to Ahsoka, a lightsaber doesn't make a person a Jedi. It was in one of those Forces of Destiny episodes.

I think Qui-Gon Jinn also said that Jedi are too reliant on lightsabers and often find themselves in dire situations when they are without one. I believe it was in the Master & Apprentice book.
