One of the major problems with this show is that most of the main characters don't seem to give a shit about anything so there are no stakes. Ahsoka is nonplussed about Thrawn getting away. When it comes right down to it, there's zero empirical evidence that life is better than death. We're just making assumptions and running on inertia. No one's actually come back with a first hand report on the subject after all - and no, a few moments of technical brain death doesn't qualify. What kind of basis for judgement would that be? Your first few seconds of independent life after you're a womb-parasite aren't typical of the rest of your life either, especially if some random stranger immediately starts slapping you around to remind you to breathe like an old Warner Brothers cartoon. Plenty of religions claim that if you do what they tell you dying is definitely where you get to the good part, even. Funny how none of their leaders offer to go first and talk about speeding up the queue for everyone else.

Can we just acknowledge the biggest crime of this show? If you take Ahsoka out of this story, not that much changes. Thrawns robots would have still found the map. They probably would have figured out how to open it. And they would have got him back at which point the Republic would have pulled their heads out of the sand and acknowledged he's returned. The only difference is Ezra who seems like he could have easily stowed away on the ship on the way back and who admittedly is going to give the Republic a heads up that Thrawns' back. Which given their track record, the Republic still won't believe it.. And even if we acknowledge that Ezra coming back is because of Ahsoka's actions, it's more because of Sabine's actions. I cannot believe I predicted this was going to happen when they announced this show two years ago. @RelativelyBest Жыл бұрын
Eh, I don't mind lightsaber stabs being survivable since that's actually pretty realistic. A hole through your body isn't nearly as lethal as you'd think as long as your heart doesn't get hit, especially when you don't have to worry about blood loss, and Star Wars medical technology should totally be good enough to fix something like that. As for the midichlorians, they were a minor yet surprisingly vital plot device that everyone misunderstood and overreacted to. Outside of specifically the plot of The Phantom Menace, they're not really important at all.
@Cheshire_Addams Жыл бұрын
@@RelativelyBest I'll admit I was speaking mostly in hyperbole. I agree with the stab not being lethal as long as vital organs are avoided and blood loss is managed. I always assumed the lightsaber cauterized the wounds anyway which would cover blood. It's more the regularity of people getting stabbed and just coming back no problem makes me feel the weapon or the user is ineffective. It's a bigger problem that isn't exclusive with Star Wars but it lessens the risk and therefore loses tension. The midochlorians I only took issue with the idea that without them (or without a certain amount, I'm not clear on it) you couldn't be force sensitive at all. What I mean here is I'd rather take the worst case of needing them to have access to the force at all over being so capable of doing the force feats in the Disney era Star Wars with no real training. Again, I just feel it takes something that should be impressive and lowers its value when it feels more like a character just levels up and unlocks full force powers.

My theory is that a lot of the weird decisions, especially in Filoni helmed shows, comes down to his history in the animated Star Wars tv series where there was a little (or a lot) more leeway for silliness and where outsized characters expressions could convey moods far more effectively than live actors. I had an issue with this too but at least they address it in the show by mentioning many times that Sabine is the least force sensitive jedi ever, and ahsoka takes her on because they're both untraditional Jedis blabla and even Ezra when he finds out about ahsoka taking Sabine on as an apprentice is like oh... Why? Not saying it makes sense but at least they don't just totally ignore it and go yep she was always jedi

Ahsoka Season 1 summed up: Ahsoka and Sabine go to another galaxy, facilitate Thrawn and Ezra returning to the SW galaxy, and get stuck there instead. *_ If you can sum up 3 movies worth of time in a single sentence, you've not put enough effort into the story and writing as you think you have. Just a note for Filoni and co. _*

Did you forget that Sabine Wren was a trained Mandalorian versed in basic Mando combat, an explosives expert, an expert marksman, a super talented engineer that no one could copy, a talented repair technician that is able to repair anything like ship engines and weapons, is able to defeat Clone Wars veteran Mandalorian soldiers like Gar Saxon in 1v1 combat, attended in the Imperial Academy, was a fantastic Tie fighter pilot, designed a super weapon (without any help) that baffles other Imperial/Rebel/Mandalorian Engineers, was a famous Bounty Hunter throughout the Galaxy and had other Bounty Hunters owe her favors, is able to wield a lightsaber without the force and fight Jedi 1v1, comes from a famous Mandalorian family (which is basically Royalty) and was a well known Galactic Artist because of her famous art......all before the age of 14 years old! And now she's a Jedi and Force sensitive. Even surviving getting stabbed by a Lightsaber. 😂

Between Sabine in Ahsoka and Reva in Obi Wan, it seems lightsaber wounds really aren't that dangerous. I think if I were using one I'd make a point of slicing sideways after an attack so it was more than just a puncture wound. Just be safe, you know.

If we were being realistic, based on what a lightsaber is shown to do to a blast door, the human body would violently erupt around the entire region of the impaling due to the intense heat reacting with the moisture of the body. It would be catastrophic.

Well tbf Sabine was around real jedi for quite some time. She saw them train. She saw them use force abilties. She was even trained by one (yeah yeah Ahsoka was never really a full fledged jedi but she is the last good guy alive and present who recieved training while Jedi Order was still a thing... rip Kanan). Rey on the other hand had literally nothing except stories from Han and she was able to do the mind control trick like it's nothing... or keep a spaceship from flying away - something even Obi Wan couldn't apparently do. Force push/pull are basics comapred to that.
