I'm so glad you mentioned the very strange Lando and ex-stormtrooper moment at the end. This had me in tears at the cinema laughing. This gizmo is not really a holocron (it's just a map, it doesn't hold the Force-powered AI avatar of its creator) but its design is a 100% ripoff of the Sith holocrons from the comics.

Why would he throw away every chance? I find it a bit disappointing when the bad guy of a story is evil for no reason, tells everyone that he is evil for no reason and then kills himself off in to make sure the main character(s) don't have to do it. It's just lazy writing.
