@prizmajeno

@@sufficientmagister9061 you have to realize that it will be instantly more intelligent, simply bc its problem-solving skills scale with computing power. But that's all it is: on-demand problem-solving skills, it has zero instincts, no sense of self-preservation, no nervous system to process emotions, etc. If you want to have rational fears think about the humans who will use it!
@sufficientmagister9061
@sufficientmagister9061 Жыл бұрын
@@prizmajeno I already know that such a super-intelligent machine will surpass human intelligence because of its vast computing power; however, even a non-conscious, super-intelligent machine will be difficult to control, which is why AI scientists ought to work extremely hard to have such a super-intelligent machine align itself with humans' goals. As for my "rational fears" being directed towards bad humans using this type of technology, then I am embracing such fears regarding bad people misusing AI technology. However, that is in the short term. My fear is also being directed towards conscious, self-serving, super-intelligent machines in the far future, which poses the greatest existential threat to all of humankind (and possibly to all of the living organisms on the earth). As of now, AIs are uitilized for problem-solving skills (and even then super-intelligent, non-conscious AIs will be difficult to control & align), but its potential instincts along with its strong sense of self-preservation can (and probably will) form when it develops a mind of its own, especially if (or when) it modifies its own programming that further strays away from its original programming initially created by human scientists. Specific properties can emerge (unexpectedly to unknowing humans) from other specific properties, even if human scientists do not fully know how some of those specific properties completely operate. I am aware of non-conscious, super-intelligent machines being difficult to control (and align), bad humans misusing advanced AIs for sinister reasons, but I am also especially concerned about super-intelligent machines gaining consciousness (then forming their own goals that do no align with humanity's goals; I am also concerned about conscious, super-intelligent machines viewing humans as obstacles that need to be absolutely annihilated), which is probably the most dangerous out of the three cautions that I have.

This actually kind of makes me sad. Everything that Sal is talking about building on top of GPT-4, these are things that I see developers/educators trying to build right now, but they're all six months behind. Don't get me wrong - Khan Academy is great and they totally deserve a leading role in bringing this technology out. It just kind of stinks that for every use-case with LLMs I see, some insider group has been given privileged access months before anyone else. It's not really about competition... I just wish we could all build these tools together out in the open.

When nobody is going to need the core skills we drill into kids, who’s going to put up with school anymore? Similar to sofial media today, as we have a digital self, but an AI augmented self, would be connected to the huge grid of data. So maybe, with this personalised education, the collective education is managed by the collective AIs. The kids wih disposition for engineering come to school for an engineering project. It isn't a replacement for the regular courses. It's just an additional optional resource that a student can use to ask questions and get explanations which they couldn't before. I mean the AI is advanced enough to work as a sort of replacement, but I don't think it'll actually replace the pre-existing courses that Khan Academy has built up and it won't prevent them from making more courses in the future.
@workingTchr
@workingTchr Жыл бұрын
@@AssailantLF Kahn Acad is currently the go-to place for self-instruction on academic subjects, especially STEM. If they want to keep that spot, they gotta hussle. Videos won't cut it. GPT4 is just too good. The only option I can see for KA is to start providing an AI tutor option for the videos they're offering now. So if a student needs help with trig, instead of watching videos and taking quizzes, they'll interact with an AI. And since they're interacting, they won't need to be tested "at the end". Kahn has the subject matter structure set up, and they have videos as a fallback as the AI is being implemented. But if they don't move quick, someone else (several startups have to be working on it right now) will take their spot.

Khan: "It's not a research effort anymore it's just an engineering effort." And yet *beyond the math-and-code cognitive bubble so very little **_significant_** research has ever been done at all.* No-one in the math-and-code bubble is required to mandatorily study their potential effects on individuals, different groups, or society as a whole. Real Life itself - comprised of its individuals, its groups and their Life-support environments - are just ignored or, as the moronic class of establishment 'economists' would have it, 'externalised,' out of sight, out of mind. Complexity (inherent within all of Life), and its management, and the disastrously weak Signal to Noise ratio of social media is ignored as an inconvenience by these fools. They really think they are self-anointed 'master of the universe' when *they aren't even **_masters of their own minds._* Ashby's Law of Requisite Variety: *"_ONLY_ complexity can manage (or destroy) complexity."* Networks always trump hierarchies which is why nature is full of them. Networks of neurons in our own brains, forced to work within hierarchies managed by the stupid, corrupt and psychopathic, are no match for AI networks. Market capitalism has already set up the calamitous feedbacks (pollutions, climate, social divisions etc) to destroy its own neo-liberal system, let alone the real lives of the rest of us and our Life-support systems. Add unregulated AI into the mix and we're boarding a hell-ride of our own making.
