From the chords to the vocal melody and even some of the lyrics, it's a Cobain tune. OBVIOUSLY some lyrics were written for/by Courtney to be from her perspective. If you want to collect all Nirvana records, you only have it complete if you get Hole's 2nd album. While the fabulous 1st one has a noticiable Hole signature, this 2nd one is a mastepiece with many songs written with clear Cobain's signature. Courtney on the other hand, like every artist in the early 90’s, was very inspired by the melodic techniques on Nevermind and tried her best to make a punk-pop album that was even better than Nevermind, which is Live Through This. Violet is a song that she and Eric wrote after hearing Lithium for the first time, in mid 1991. Courtney wrote the lyrics to Asking For It in late 1991, even some of it was taken from their 1991 single Dicknail. The early demo of Miss World with Kurt on bass is missing it’s main hook. Why would it be missing that if Kurt wrote it, you know, the guy who said “melody first, words second”? There is clear evidence of Courtney’s talent for poetry in the 1985 demo of her early band Pagan Babies. You also can’t say that he wrote it because she hasn’t done anything relevant since, because neither have Smashing Pumpkins, Alice In Chains, Fiona Apple, Garbage. Wasn’t it Tom Petty that said “I don’t think an artist ever really quits, they just stop when they no longer have anything to say”.

No, it's not a Nirvana album. Kurt was massively influenced by Courtney, you can see it in In Utero with the noise rock influence of Pretty on the Inside and the evolution of his lyrics. He was a terrible lyricist prior to Courtney, his lyrics basically consisted of catchy rhyming couplets and nonsense lyrics, basically "he ate beans, they made farts" and "pee pee on my lips". She'd been writing about social issues since she was a teenager. Half the songs for LTT were written before she met him, he was open about wanting to join Hole and that he was jealous of Courtney because he was out of ideas and she was productive through 1993. He loved Eric as a guitarist too.
