@@AIAddictagreed. Thank you for making these videos. As a motorist in Florida and often a vulnerable road user I am very worried and cautious of Tesla’s. Last time I was driving on a central arterial road in the middle of a busy city a Tesla kept trying to merge with a left turn lane that didnt exist. It kept getting over to the left and scraping the bushes and plants in the median while hugging the left side of the lane with a left indicator light on. This is dangerous and for Tesla to be training their autopilot on public utilities such as roadways they need to pay or take any sort of accountability for who or what they are putting at fatal risk.

For all those looking to blame something besides the tech, you're missing the point. This tech is touted as being safer than a human, yet it fails repeatedly even after being reported for years. And you can say the driver is supposed to be in control all the time, but people don't behave that that way. We get complacent. Even professionals make mistakes, yet this tech is offered to the masses, the people that will easily get distracted and abuse it. And while he was in control and had to intervene, is that the experience we want from this tech? Even if you're a proponent for this tech, would your passengers feel safe after an experience like this? The tech is not ready. The infrastructure is not ready. Drivers, in general, are not ready to beta test for Tesla. This tech is just a means to sell an over-priced car that lacks the quality and materials in the price range it is offered.

the point is that theres people who say that they would have made the same mistake if they came across this without any prior knowledge thats not "missing the point" bad design is still bad design, imagine you put a concrete block in the water and expect it to float, how do you get it to float? well, if you were smart, you would say that its impossible to get the block itself to float on its own, which would be the tesla, and the water, the intersection, and the help, the lights and markings literally the entire point is that the intersection is just badly designed in a way that FSD CANNOT be worked around the intersection acts like on/off ramps, but with a stupid light instead of overpassing road or an actual intersection

I think the road structure might be too complex for the car to process. I can see that it detected the green light for the other lane first, and that is visually very close to the correct red light, and it assume it's the green light for its own lane so it just proceed with it. But then it detected the correct red light and stop in the middle of the road, and the red light is flashing in and out on the screen.

It may seem counter-intuitive, but these systems tend to work better at night, because there is more contrast between the background and the lines on the road, signs, and signal lights, making it easier for the model to see. So if it doesn't work at night, there is NO WAY it'll work during the day.

At that specific junction (Quito/Hwy 9), in the day time there is absolutely no problem (model X, 11.4.4). The placement of the those lights at the intersection is somewhat skewed and that might be what confused FSD. I will try that at night in the next couple of days.

15,000 later and what do you get ...running red lights fix it tesla and lower the price of fsd its to much money spent on a feature just to run red lights and even if it didn't run the light 15,000 on top of the money spent for the car is crazy especially when fsd is not ready yet i believe one day it will in 10 years my opinion but right now no and it's not worth 15,000 fsd should just be strictly subscription model for $50 bucks per month then when its ready I mean fully ready and works 99.5 percent of the time under very weather conditions out there then 15,000 is more then justified fix it tesla.

I see 3 different red lights in that intersection. On the left , center and right on a perfectly clear night . How could anyone miss this ? humans can see the green lights are pointed the other way but tesla can't. At minimum it should assume there are both red and green lights if it cannot see the angles as good as a human and decide not to drive through the red light and have the passenger take over or stop but it makes the dangerous choice.

The green light for cross traffic should not be visible to you as you approach the intersection. You broke the law twice by running the red light. Super dangerous. Do not do that again. Follow the traffic law and the rules of the road. The white line defining the intersection also appears faded. Local municipality could be at fault for not maintaining proper signage and lane line painting.

In my 27 years of living on this road I’ve never seen an accident or a human incident of someone running the red light. It used to be a stop sign when I was a child, now it’s a red light. I agree it’s different but you’ll find thousands of “different” intersections around the world that FSD may encounter similar to this one. They will need to fix this before going wide release.

slightly more confusing but humans can see the different angles. Why wouldn't the FSD at least count 3 green lights and 3 red lights (red is more visible than green here) and at least stop or allow the driver to take over instead of having the dumb confidence of running a red?
@echopapacharlie
@echopapacharlie Жыл бұрын
It's a more confusing intersection than many others. But a human driver, unless impaired, will perceive he's approaching an intersection with a highway and will accordingly act with due caution. He will slow down when he perceives confusion, to a complete stop if necessary, and to proceed only after he makes out the situation. The FSD does not seem to have a "cautious mode."
@DanFrederiksen
@DanFrederiksen Жыл бұрын
Try doing the tests with less malice like feign outrage when you know it does it consistently and you intentionally seek it out. I've seen similar in similar shallow angle layouts from other testers. The logic isn't yet airtight. I assume it doesn't do it in daylight since you only show nighttime?

A red light on your LEFT means its not for you That's not an FSD problem, that's a design flaw with the intersection I personally (had i not been warned beforehand) would have done the same thing and stopped in the intersection, even if i would be a bit confused Its likely a police trap to generate revenue, hospital bills, or funeral profits

@@johnm9263 The most generous case you could argue is the AI is confused because it sees 3 red lights and 3 green lights at a slightly different angle . Humans can tell the difference due to the angle of green lights and the context of being a traffic onramp but tesla "AI" can't here . So why doesn't it just stop or give control to the driver instead of ignore the 3 red lights that are more visible than the green lights pointed at the other road? Also why is Tesla not learning when they are repeatedly being told by their drivers this intersection isn't working right ?
