hi siauliai, youre doing really good videos. I'm just a beginner and did the first step on the journey of aikido only a few weeks ago.So I'm interessted in every information about aikido i can get. When I watch your vid's you remember me about a young man living lonely in Brussels. He was my neighbour. Every trainingday he asked me, if I want to join, but I wasn't able what he was invinting me too. This days my biggest wish I had taken his hand. Pls keep your channel alive. I look forward to every of your videos.

Hello Micheal and thank you for sharing. It always means a lot for me to hear that people find the videos useful. In terms of the man, we all have some regrets, most of them we can't change, but it's important that we live our lives at this moment in such a way, that we would not regret it later :) PS: There will be more videos!

Thank you, Sensei ! In our Aikido class, the instructors leave us to figure out for ourselves how to do it after performing the techniques three or four times. But since this requires high level of concentration and keen observation to master the overwhelming amount of details, so not just any one can fare well. So I think approaching Aikido techniques from their basic principles is a great way to practice the art.

1:50 I’m sorry but I’m looking on how not to get my ass beat in a life or death situation. Partners attempt at a block already put me off, the instructors hand up... wtf is that?! You’re not blocking anything with that, left hook and he’s slumped because he wanted to look cool putting his hand out, instead of covering his head with the whole arm that he has. Next go to 2:52, I’m not the most versed fighter but look at the partner, his weak hand is getting grabbed by the opponents lead hand. Now the partner’s power hand is loaded up, in the right distance to clean “masters” clock. “Master” is stuck because he used his closest hand to grab the other dudes weak hand while using a lot of focus to do so. The other guy is just throwing a textbook 1-2 and will win that exchange. Guys pls look into karate to start, it keeps yours hands safe when punching and teaches timing and distance. From there go to boxing then Muay Thai and finally bjj. Learn the barebones of those styles, and you should be solid.

Good beginning, especially until the the principle No 3 revealingthe active way of using Aikido, not everyoneteaches it at the beginning. Going further, however the IRIMI should have been completed by its URA approach using first a simpler version of turns, the Tenka ashi, and only then the Tenkan may come which opens the final solution to GIVING SPACE , say Extra dimension to a new beginning of whirling movements. Tome, as a beginner, the end was a bit overcomplicated. Paul,68,retired instructor of Karate, fan of Aikido.

There's actually nothing wrong with these principles and techniques, but I realised that you would have to be significantly stronger than your opponent to pull them off i.e. I could do all these against my 11 yr old son (who is a judoka btw). However, if you were that dominant over someone else, you could in theory do almost anything you want.

Practising with a compliant uke is all very well. If you were attacked by someone bigger and stronger than you who was genuinely trying to hurt you, how effective would any of this be, do you suppose? Also, attacks do not typically begin with someone grabbing you hand. I don't mean to be discourteous, but this art, it seems to me, is strong in elegance and weak in effectiveness.

No wonder that you has many guestions about aikido. It is hard to say this but your way to practice and teach aikido is NOT the way Ueshiba teach and practice. Your way is Ueshibas sons "university aikido", soft and nice way. I don't say that aikikai aikido is not good but it is not practical. You should study some books (Ueshibas books Budo and Budo Training in Aikido) and study how Morihiro Saito and Hitohiro Saito teach principles. For example there is no diffirence between kihon and nagare (you can not practice very basic techniques from static position -kihon- the way you show those techniques, nagare way) in your techniques, you say nothing about kokyo ho, your stance is not good at all (your posture is not good and that's why you have no power (you need to practice kokyo ho) etc . Aikido is not for sport fighting, there is better way to practice sport. There is better way to practice self-defense or knife fighting. BUT. Aikido, if you practice proper way, is pretty goof for self-defense, guards and for security personnel etc. I have lot of experience about that. There is no more Iwama Aikido in Finland, it is a pity. But in Sweden there is Lars Göran Andersson and other guys who practice with Morihiro Saito in Iwama, in the birth place of aikido.

So that's why Kano Jigoro, father of aikido, called aikido the true judo. Also, that's how aikijutsu existed on the battlefields. That's also how Rokas has been applying aikido in the Ultimate Self Defence Championship recently after getting training in other martial arts.
