Am from kuwait and i can see ur point because Kuwait is not aiming to be a tourist attraction country so i think u can summarise it as follows Kuwait: 1- better food 2- better malls 3- better paycheck 4- more conservative and some law are based on Islamic identity thats why u cant find alcohol or bacon Bahrain: 1- more modernised, because its aiming for the Tourists 2- more freedom in case of wardrobe and and bars ext.. 3- much smaller country so u will never be lost. But as for living area , you stayed in the worst possible place to stay in Kuwait, so if anybody is reading this and decided to go to Kuwait please don't stay in khaitan , am a Kuwaiti and i dont go through it unless i really have to. For me i think if ur alone Bahrain is better to stay in , but if u come with ur family Kuwait is better because Kuwait is designed for families not for tourists and the better salary, and thank you for reading this .

Khaitan is the worst place for a female expat to live in in Kuwait. I think the reason why a lot of young female foreign teachers prefer Bahrain is because of the legalization of alcohol, and the more liberal atmosphere around you, and it’s understandable.

But the thing is my experience of working could be under a year how tough is it to get a work permit and how can i get sponsorship easily without having to wait long? I dreamt of being in kuwait and i hope you can help ! I want to live in Kuwait because I want to be around the culture and around Muslims. And to learn kuwaiti, i am also muslim and love to be in mosques. Please help me step by step on what i can do and if i can survive with 10k+ or maybe less, really need the guidance! And i want to make sure i can live in kuwait for the rest of my life hopefully.

I'm sorry if u didn't like Kuwait. Maybe it's just not the type of country or lifestyle for you. And why did you live in Khetan!? Khetan has a problem of overpopulation therefore it doesn't have a lot of things to do during the weekend, and living in an overpopulated place like Khetan might eventually seem like a less than ideal choice.
@AimeeRebecca5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it just wasn't my type of place. I had to live in Khetan because my accommodation was assigned to me and I didn't have a choice. I think it would have been a better experience if I'd lived somewhere like Salmiya because it's so pretty there.

hi amiee, i think the comment you made about how personality will affect how you like the country was spot on. it’s not that bahrain is better than kuwait or vice versa, i think a good experience is based on picking the country that is better suited to your personality and lifestyle. i’m american + have never lived in the middle east but i’m more conservative, don’t drink or go out a lot so just from that i know i would like kuwait more. but someone like yourself enjoys bahrain instead and that’s okay! i think your previous videos received so much backlash bc it wasn’t obvious you weren’t criticizing kuwait as a country (rather than the fact that it wasn’t exactly suited to your personality) but i can tell you’re making the distinction now 🤠👍
@AimeeRebecca5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your perspective! I'm glad I came across properly this time because I did enjoy my time in Kuwait and I learned a lot there. It just didn't offer enough to keep me entertained. I think the reason people get upset at what you're saying is because it is a sensitive issue for many reasons. First of all, before you even deliver your opinion, westerns or people outside Kuwait (including Arabs) already have pre-conceived judgments about Kuwait either from pop culture, media or people like yourself who have had a limited experience of the country. If it's an Arab then Kuwait is usually portrayed as a country filled with rich people and a land for opportunity to live in and suck money out of every opportunity they can get, litter the roads and mesh with the locals. If you're a westerner Kuwait is basically another rendition of Hollywoodized Arab country; backyard with an oil faucet, fat people, money, money and more money and may or may not be a dot on a map that had something to do with George Bush and The Gulf War. People who are fans of Homeland view Kuwait as another hot place with turban wearing people talking in glottal language and yelling Allahu Akbar. Now when it comes to actually get a realistic image of what Kuwait REALLY IS like then I believe many factors should be taken into consideration to give an accurate representation. For starters Kuwait doesn't invest in tourism or is opened as other neighboring countries. In other words, if you're a foreigner and do not have an established community here or you know the in and outs, you'll be lost. You'll probably make the wrong decisions and get the worst experiences. Unlike Dubai, Qatar and other neighboring countries- there is a divide between local people and expats. You can pretty much view Kuwait as a miniature Victorian England. The society is very structured, everyone knows everybody which has its positive aspects. It's considered one of the safest countries (yes shocking I know), with pretty much good salaries and friendly people; however, again much like Victorian England, if you're not out in society with good connections then you're an outcast basically. In my opinion the biggest mistake expats make when they visit Kuwait is expect it to be tourist-friendly. If you're expecting to visit the country and roam around on your chances of discovery then 9 out of 10 chances you will experience the worst. If you do your homework; however, plan it right then you can have a wonderful fulfilling experience. By 'homework' many expats ask OTHER expats about their own experiences which pretty much is the same. Next time get to know a local person and let them show you the country. If I'm going to explore Kyoto, I would much rather ask a Japanese person about the in and outs than another fellow Kuwaiti like myself. This turned into an epic novel but in a nutshell. It is frustrating to be honest to live in a world where you're constantly labeled many things for being an Arab and a Muslim; it's even more frustrating to be labeled many things for being a Kuwaiti. We're basically the punching bag for every catastrophe that happens either politically, socially or in this case leisurely. There's a huge cultural divide in this region ironically even at a time when globalization is a driving force. This is not meant to discredit your review of Kuwait but perhaps might just give people a chance to reconsider that it's also not fair to judge an entire country, race or religion based on an experience that (with all due respect) was limited. And please stay away from Khaitan and Farwaniyah. That's like Soho at 2am.

i rarely leave a comment but i think for this one i have to do so lol, i lived here in kuwait my whole life and i would like to talk about my opinion and give you a rundown on kuwait and its places and stuff… first of all when you said you lived in khaitan i was like 😟😟😟 hahaha but tbh the problem here is that the entertainment sector is just dead, like really dead😂 but kuwait has many many many places that i believe aren’t well advertised such as museums, cultural/sometimes musical events, yacht parties etc… and i dont know if you had any idea about this but you can get a license to drink alcohol here in kuwait if you are a non muslim, otherwise alcohol is illegal HOWEVER a lot of people who are kuwaitis themselves do drink here in kuwait but lets just not talk about it 😂 speaking of covering up, i totally disagree with you it’s not an obligation to cover up here bc i do wear revealing clothes sometimes and it’s totally okay! i think enjoying your time in kuwait depends on two things : knowing the right circle of people and having a more opened experience. also, i think the reason why people just mention shopping and restaurants when it comes to kuwait bc there are the only very well advertised things here lol HOWEVER i do agree there are a lotttt a lot of places to shop and eat here 😂 btw i’ve been to bahrain several times specifically juffair and i do agree it’s a beautiful country! thanks for your unfiltered point of view 💜

Thanks for sharing your experience! I agree with you that things aren't well advertised in Kuwait. I always felt like there must have been things going on, but there was no way to find out about any of them. I also had no idea you could get an alcohol licence. I doubt I would have been able to have alcohol in my home anyway as my employer owned my apartment and they had very strict rules. They monitored what we wore to make sure we always had our knees and shoulders covered and we weren't allowed guests in our homes. I can't imagine I would have gotten alcohol passed them haha! I'm glad you're having such a great time in Kuwait!

There’s no dress code in Kuwait he’s probably Egyptian I see a lot of Kuwaiti women in Kuwait wear showing up there knees and shoulders and even belly in malls and cafes Nd side walks it’s just the difference between the two countries is that freedom expression. There’s freedom expression in Kuwait but not in Bahrain. And Kuwait is a semi-democratic country and Bahrain is not.
