Does the heat damage the finish/appearance of the blueing?

Thanks for a great vid Geoff but my problem it a drill stuck in the moderator / barrel . I have maybe 6 or 8 pellets jammed in the barrell and I was hoping to dislodge them but now obvious the barrel is a lesser diameter than the mod. And when I say it's stuck it's stuck and I have no vice but I have tools. 13:38 Any suggestions? Steve 13/11/23

Would a longer barrel make the gun more efficient to the point where you could de-tune to maintain a sub 12'Lb figure. Aim to have less kinetic energy flying about, shorter piston stroke and lock time, lighter recoil etc.... or would it be better just to buy an HW77 or 97?
@lsduk3 жыл бұрын
On a spring gun, tbh, no. Careful piston & transfer port work gives the builder the opportunity to increase the efficiency of the gun.

Geoff ,would it be possible for a hw35 in 177 to be made in to a 20cal?

Air Arms suggests using a heat gun.

Do all MKIII rifles have the small screw under the shroud? I have a person who has a 2006 MKIII and he says he does not have the screw. His shroud is moving forward. I suspect the barrel nut is loosening…

Hi Geoff, how did you work that black stock to be so different from an ex-factory Mk 1 ? Did you add a rubber-like sprayed finish ? THX !
@lsduk6 жыл бұрын
Hi. Yes it's a rubberised 2k clear coat over black base coat.
@hendrickotto1036 жыл бұрын
Thanks Geoff, but what is 2k ? That cocking aid looks a bit like stainless as well, correct ? Meanwhile I could'nt find info about your nickle work referred to somewhere below, sadly.....
@lsduk6 жыл бұрын
@@hendrickotto103 I think I made that one from HP tube. The Nickel post was a demo I did on Nickel coating prior to using cold blue in a hot state. It was intended as a trial but the gun is still looking good somewhere I believe.
@wibble19997 жыл бұрын
top man geoff. Ive been watching your work since i saw you blue using nickel i believe it was...and that was contrary to what others said would work. Pleased to see things are going from strength to strength buddy! Dave

Thanks Dave. Busy times in the workshop now. So glad I decided to turn the venture to full time.

Bit of heat and a hammer solves most issues! Would a Mk2 barrel removal be the same, minus the shroud obversely. Got one 2nd hand the other day and the barrel and action is scabby, so want to get it decent again. Cheers.

Yip, exactly the same.

I use high pressure/temperature steam, does not effect blacking. Save your torch for more useful work.

I don't have access to HP steam David. But thanks.

So you could have a 25 tx or maybe a 25 pro sport ?
@lsduk7 жыл бұрын
Perfectly feasible yes. Something I would eagerly take on, and have often pondered on doing. It's just a case of waiting until an affordable donor gun is available.
