I'm definitely a fan of the PW JT9D engines on this classic 767. Sounds great!

No way, nothing beats the sound of a 757

Yes, I totally agree with you. RR Trent engines have beautiful spool up sounds. GE CF 6, PW4000 and PWJT9D sounds like giant refrigerators. Sounds bad.

Best part of the flight, taking off. I just love the feeling when the aircraft accelerates and pausing your body against the seat and hearing the engine screams.

I like the noise too, I find it lulling after a while.
@Boeing747fan17 жыл бұрын
Those JT9D's sure sound lovely! Definitely one of the best (if not THE best) sounding jet engines both inside and out. Its also quite loud on the 747 classic.
@ansettaddict12316 жыл бұрын
FOR SURE!!! and the split second after throttle up, the engines are escreaming but you havent started to move... suddenly youre gently eazed back into your seat!!! MOST AMAZING FEELING EVER!! 767's are renown for the 'eazing' effect and teh fast takeoffs:D

I remember an Air Canada 767-200 flamed out due to fuel starvation and the pilot dead sticked and landed it safely !! He blew all the tires but still a hero !! There is a book on that .

@jagotusk I empathize with and admire your passion, but I have to say you've elevated the concept of the introvert to new heights! Just joking, I too am greatly fascinated by the complexity and power of modern turbofans.

The older b762's had Pratt & Whitney JT9D engines, as did the Boeing 747-100s & -200s. They were slightly different variants though.

@MatthewSherriff13 жыл бұрын
@maxou Did you post the vid of the 757? I'd still like to hear what kind of a "difference" you can hear inside the plan. Keeping in mind all the other variables that go into how it sounds. Such as quality of recording device, position inside plane, etc.
@ocsfinest15 жыл бұрын
The engines on this 767 are not RB211s. While RB211s were designed for the L-1011 and are more commonly found on the 757 and sometimes on the 747, very few airlines (BA and some Qantas 763s and I believe China Yunnan) are the only airlines that use the RB211 on the 767. The engines here are the Pratt and Whitney JT9D-7R4D.

When you upload your video, what format do you use? My videos are sharp when I make them, but after uploading them as FLV files, they lose their sharpness. I use Pinnacle video editing software and it defaults to FLV file format. Anyway, your video looks pretty clear.

@mattsherr2 the engines on the 767 are far more powerful than on the 757. they are both from pratt and whitney but the ones on the 767 are bigger and more powerful than the ones they need for the 757. most 757's though have the rolls royce engines on them.
