Interesting Dean out here on the East coast a Shiv is a knife. I have a Quincy QT-5 compressor it's a great machine.

Beast of an air compressor. When I worked in the prison system we called a shiv anything pointed that an inmate could stick us with.

Here in the UK we would call it a pulley when used with a belt and a sheave when used with rope. I'd pronounce is shEEEve. But they are a bit interchangable, most fitters and technicians would know what you were talking about. And those wire nuts are appalling things, Wago's are much better. But always nice to have decent compressor.

Here we use both shiv pulley. That is an impressive air compressor set up. Why didn't you put single phase motors on? That square D control looks like a water pressure switch. Take care Dean

Hi Randy, Yeah we can pick up used commercial 3-phase motors around here dirt cheap. And I'm already setup with a proper VFD. Single phase motors are harder to come by, especially decent ones and the quality ones are crazy expensive. Funny that pressure switch might be a water one, I don't remember where I got it, but it works great! Thanks Randy, ATB....

Cool setup. Any reason (other than economics) you didn't replace the motors with single phase an eliminate the VFD?

I have friends in industry that replace a lot of motors 99% are 3-phase. Most just need minor work like bearings. They just scrap them, with the high labor rates it cost more to repair than replace under about 5 Hp. Yeah it's just economics AKA "free". Same goes with VFDs if the cooling fan fails they replace the drive. Thanks Greg 👍👍
