If you add a capful of vinegar it helps break everything down to a beautiful smooth consistency. The vinegar also helps keep mold away.

I have made it using the sanded clay from projects. I collected the dust in a tub and used some of that mixed with a small amount of water to make the slip. I keep the slip in a small glass jar with a lid as I made just a small amount to test if it works. I have used it to fuse the clay to foil, polystyrene and itself and it's worked really well

I wish we had had Air Dry Clay to use when I was at school. We had to use the traditional kiln fired clay, but we weren't really taught HOW to use it, so most of the stuff we made just broke in the kiln!!! LOL 😄 To be honest, the teacher we had didn't know anything about clay at all!!! 🤣 She was an excellent Art teacher, but she was hopeless at Craft.

I keep all of my scraps of ADC in a small jar, which I turn in to a slip and or a gap filler. To get it into hard to get places I use a craft syringe to inject the ADC, I get it to a consistency of icing. I works extremely well. You just have to make sure you throughly clean the syringe, including the plunger with a rubber end When I work away from home on a project I take my jar of clay with me as well as all my other bits and pieces. Thank you. I would say the smaller the jar the better with less air, if it goes a bit too thick you can just add a little more water, but I don’t keep it too long, making in small batches, as if you get any bacteria in it will go moldy!

I store in a glass jar with the lid on, you can make a bigger batch if you need to, but I tend to make a few spoonfulls at a time as a little goes a long way. If no bacteria gets in it should last a really good length of time. I just prefer small batches.

@RedRockingBird
@RedRockingBird 3 жыл бұрын
Store it in a jar with the lid tight on, it will likely go a bit thicker over time but just add a little more water. As long as you put clean water in the mix it should last a good while, till your next project, just make a small amount like i did at a time and then keep topping it up as you need to 💜

Even if you left a big chunk in water and left it sit for ages it would soften and work, wonder why yours didn’t work, is it definitely regular air dry clay? ❤️

Hiiiii and thank you for another clip that’s easy to follow and clear - I love your channel! I have a question about candle holders: if I made a small holder for votives (small ‘church candles’), how does air dry clay hold up with heat? I make candles and will be making dish candle holders for larger pillars, and was wondering whether I should experiment with the smaller ones ... any advice? Have a lovely day 🌷♥️🌷
@RedRockingBird
@RedRockingBird 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. I wouldn't want a naked flame to be near the clay or any lacquer on it, just in case. If far enough away from the flame on a large pillar candle then sounds like it's something that would be great to try, and people are told to never leave a candle burning unattended anyway. I have only ever used my clay with little tea lights that take a battery!! : ) You have a great day too 🌷♥️🌷

Yes sure, just if bacteria gets in if you keep it too long it will go moldy. Lots of people use air dry clay without slip but it really helps keep the project strong, enjoy 😊

Instead of using slib I prefer the kinstugi technique, which is part of the Japanese "Wabi Sabi" philosophie, meaning as much as "the perfection of imperfection". Perhaps you've heard of it, if not Wabi Sabi doesn't strive for perfection, it embraces the imperfect, the wheatered, the old, and sees it's beauty. Kinstugi applies this principle to any kind of stoneware which is broken or chipped. Instead of hidding the cracks or chips by "invisibly" gluing, kinstugi emphasises the cracks and chips by applying a mix of glue and gold or silver (embossing) powder. Which gives every piece a unique character, and a second life.

Hi, I absolutely love this, thank you. I was telling a friend about the gold cracks technique the other day when she was asking how to fix a broken item, but I couldn’t remember the name of it, wonderful thank you, I love the idea of embracing the imperfect and showing off the cracks. As I get older I also love the fact that I can enjoy the fact that I am not perfect, but unique and different and that I am who I am…cracks and all 😊❤️ My world cracked apart when I lost my Mum, but I am slowly putting the pieces back together. Blessings to you
