It was a fun one for sure.I got a bit long winded in my explanation..but I never know who is watching, a veteran Diagnostician or a new guy. All levels show up. Thats a good thing though!

Thanks for sticking threw it. I was very redundant, but as a part time instructor I have to get my point across. These skewed reading sensors can be tough to find.

Its fun. Not necessary but fun. Also the dongle will work with the pico nvh kit.

Glad to see you on the channel! Hope all is well in your part of the world. He has a video on a Subaru with a mis reading front A.F sensor. He pulled out and promoted the new ATS 5 gas analyzer to prove it. 😄 I don't remember him saying much about the Escan sharpshooter. I will have to watch it again.

Good video and diagnosis. I still haven't figured out the total fuel trim/volumetric efficiency graph yet.

Took me a while to get it also. Basically its showing you the fuel trim test graphed , and the VE test graphed at the same time.

Excellent Diag. Yep any scan tool is just delivering the info it is fed. You have dissected that information very well to come up with a conclusive result. Love it. Enjoying your videos man.

Great stuff. I'm surprised the ecm didn't report lazy air fuel ratio code like insufficient activity. But at least Escan told you the air side is good which eliminated the maf sensor. Great videos and keep posting new videos. Thank you

Not sure why it didn't flag the A.F sensor? I guess it moved just enough. Escan definitely was spot on with the air flow side of the equation. Thanks for watching and commenting !

That was a good diagnosis but the only thing I would disagree with is the fact that the tool was lying to you. The sharpshooter fuel trim tab showed you exactly what the fuel trims were, any other tool you used would have shown you the exact same thing. No matter what tool you are using you would have had to take the extra step to look at the 02 and AF sensor operation. Otherwise it was a spot on diagnosis.

Thanks for the comment Bob. Did I say the tool was lying to me? I can't remember (late night putting this together) If I did.. oops!! I probably meant to say the TOOL was being lied to by the faulty front A.F sensor. The extra step you speak of is exactly the point, to flush out B.S info. from bad feedback sensors. I preach this at every shop meeting , and every one on one training talks I do at the shop. Some get it and some don't. You obviously do!! Thanks for watching and pointing this out!

I guess it's just a semantics argument. I initially got the impression that you were saying that the tool was lying but after I listened again you did make it clear at the end that the tool was showing you the information it got and it was getting bad information. At the end of the day we could have the best tools available but you still have to use that tool between your ears to make sense of what its showing you.

The escan makes a great supplement to a full functioning scanner. Its fast and gets you the data quickly. Its basically an enhanced OBD2 scanner that's it, no bi directional control, programming, configuration ect. I like the tool for fuel trim issues. No way is it a full functioning stand alone scantool.

Not yet. No speed density stuff in my world. I'm not sure how it would do if the engine has no MAF?
