Thank you, Paul. What a great informative view from someone with a lifetime in air rifles, and a genuine passion for air rifles that goes back to the BSA Airsporter days, and when the Weihrauch HW77 was the field target spring air rifle to own and use. I've found this a super view and didn't want it to end. A super interesting watch, thank you.

I’m so glad you picked the steyr rifles because I have both the hunter 5 a scout and the pro x scout and would never sell them for any other make . I only bought these on the recommendation in your videos I have been watching for years. I also have a red laminate Daystate Red Wolf again because of your reviews 😂😂 . In all you’ve cost me a lot of money in the last five years but that won’t stop me watching your videos 👍. So glad I came across your channel, keep up the good work . I own the first official forest laminate stock from steyr I bought in 2019 my friend bought it from the factory in Austria, they were prototypes and steyr decided to stick with the wooden stocks so before they were binned my friend asked if he could buy one and they agreed . So I am now the proud owner of the number one official Steyr first forest green laminate stock ever made ❤

I've bought a lot of cheap Chinese and Turkish guns. As you said the biggest issue is finishing, the first thing I generally do is strip them apart and start deburring and polishing the internals. Makes them shoot like much more expensive guns but you have to be careful, often they have been regulated with all that friction taken into account. Once you polish the hammer, action tube, spring ends they tends to shoot a fair bit hotter so that will have to be compensated for by turning down the reg or shortening the hammer spring. You are totally right about the grease too, barrels are often caked in transport grease which often take a lot of effort to clean out. Last point cheap PCPs often come with crap or damaged O-rings. That lack of finishing tears them up on assembly. Get some good o-ring kits and swap them out once you have cleaned everything out. Helps consistency no end.

I have the LGU Master Pro .177, its beautifully made and extremely accurate. But it's heavy and fiddly to use, just like the TX200/HW97 are aswell I expect. I think Walther/Umarex lost money on the LGV and LGU, they were equivalent to £600 rifles but closer to £300 brand new. I actually prefer using my Gamo CFX .22. The BSA rotating breech and light weight is how wished the LGU was setup. Accurate aswell, despite everyone hating the Gamo trigger I never had any issue with it.

Yes, your vast experience and wisdom sounds solid indeed. HW's, TX's and early Dianas for springers are standouts. My PCP journey is near end and I'm between the Leshiy Classic and the Leshiy 2. HWs and Air Arms, traditional and proven but I was not interested in the traditional mauser or hunting rifles. Really into compacts. I've always loved semi-auto/indexing, likely will lean towards the Leshiy 2. Oh, I had a Steyr's in powder burners, they are gems. I absolutely considered the Steyr but EDgun compactness got me good.

I have an L2 ,If you get one get to the range buy the cheapest pellets you can get Excite ECON II are quite cheap and quite accurate ,Fire 1000s of them though it and i mean 1000s and that will iron out any faults it may have ,Buy a Spares kit and an O ring kit ,Get the size of the O ring for the EAR and they go if you adjust it quite often ,If you are sub 12 just put 2mm jets in it as you get a bigger shot count and most of all do not be afraid to strip it down ,Iv fixed mine at the range a couple of times ,That's the beauty of them they are so easy to fix , Iv had mine in Rivers and everything ,The O ring in the EAR has burst a couple of times and the spring in the Indexing tower has broke and iv fired 1000s of pellets and slugs through it ,Both a 5 minute fix

My first rifle was a Remington Express XP budget in .22 including scope. It never impressed me to be honest then found out there were 6 work colleagues in to air rifles. They mentioned PCP's and mentioned the HW100 so went on the hunt for one. I dropped on a HW100 - KT in .177 second hand for about £500 and was immaculate. I then bought a brand new Air - Arms S410 - TDR in .177 and to be honest i rarely use. The next airgun which was recommended was a TX200 .177 in walnut which got me addicted to springers. I then bought the HW97 in blue laminate as i liked the aesthetics of the underlever. I had a go with a friends Walther LGV at the range and agree with you that they're a top gun and was saddened to hear that they were discontinued as they're a top quality rifle. The experience with the LGV brought on a liking for a decent quality break barrel and luckily enough another friend was selling his HW98 so bought that approximately 3 weeks ago. It's an old HW98 with the shrouded barrel "No UNF" and not sure what scope to buy for it as yet as i shoot targets at 50 yards

The diana rifles are well engineered and built, but often not at the best out of the box. Given proper lubrication and break in, they can be superb. That is a general statement-some Dianas are excellent from the first shot.
