Which should I buy: Weihrauch HW85, HW95 or HW98? Massive differences in the same gun?

Having watched all of your new videos on Weihrauch rifles, I have to say that I've never been so confused re their range in all of my life 😂 🤔 but I am enjoying it. As I am currently looking to ad a spring Weihrauch to my collection, I'm still none the wiser as to which one to get!

It’s hard to see the difference between a modern 95 Luxus and an 85 Luxus at first glance .. but hidden in the product specification is the answer. The 85 has a 50cm barrel, the same as the HW80 standard, while the 95 has a 41cm barrel. The 95 ought to be the 95K but as the ‘modern’ long barrel 95 came out after the 95 with the shorter barrel they must have decided to pretend it was a new gun, by re-using the old model number because the old-school 85 had a 50cm barrel … Make sense yet? The modern 85 would be easier to cock than the modern 95 because of leverage. So the answer is; buy an 85 if you’re going full power, buy a 95 if you’re restricted to 12 or 6 fpe. So the 85 is the 95 ‘Export’ except they’ve not put it in a fancy stock. Simples.

Out of interest, have you had experience of Cometa fenix usc ? As a long time multiple HW owner, do you think I will be disappointed. Thanks for any advice 👍🏻

I have a Cometa fenix compact star & a hw98 both excellent. If I could only keep one it would be the Cometa.

Think the 95 with an adjustable comb (the “SK adjustable” model) is £550 so only £60 less than a 98 plus increasing overall weight by 0.2kg and putting it at the back of a 95 by adding the adjustable comb may extenuate the flip. Best option if you can afford it is short stroke a 98 and alternate the screw on barrel weight for target to a silencer for hunting at 3.65 - 3.80kg it’s lighter than a 35, 77, 80, 90 or a 97 just as accurate and the best of both worlds at 12 fpe but that’s just my opinion.

Exactly what I used to do with my HW98. Barrel weight on for HFT, then a heavy SAK rim-fire moderator for garden practice without upsetting my neighbours.

Yes, the 98 has a new stock. The 95 also has a new stock, but is not for sale yet.
