I started playing since his first video. Now I'm 700 MMR and a staunch Fang enthusiast. My little boys will set you on fire with +60 range.

@@samhainetalon the beauty of the game is no unit is truly OP. Everything has its counters. Fangs are great until they run into vulcans, fire badgers, typhoons, or mustangs (especially with range and/or HE ammo).

I can forsee Grubby discovering the classic "Carry" Wasp strategy in the near future. It's and oldie, but a goldie.

Spending money to preemptively unlock units can be pretty disadvantageous. You are given a unit drop round approximately every 3 rounds, and often you are given units that you want without having to pay the unlock cost (so saving money) Additionally, you don't often want an overly diverse unit composition. Having a balanced comp with fewer different types of units (and thus more units within each type), makes your tech upgrades more effective, since they apply to more of your team.

In higher level play there can be situations where if you have a specialist that has free unlocks, you can use those to prevent those units from appearing in the random drops. For example, if I am Giant specialist and I am running heavy on chaff (crawlers/fangs), I might want to unlock Vulcans even if I have no intent on using one right away or ever just so that the enemy doesn't have a free vulcan appear in the unit drop rounds that would be a perfect counter.

@@PhoenixFlight94 yeah, but you don't wanna spend money to preemptively unlock vulcan if you don't need to play it that turn, because chances are you'll get a free vulcan card in a round or two--that's my point

@@coreyalexander4101 hence why i said as giant spec which makes the unlock free. Otherwise you almost always don't want to preemptively unlock something.

Great to see you mixing it up. as much as I love wc3, Mechabellum looks like a really polished auto battler also you ignore the insane beam upgrade then spend the rest of the match compensating for him choosing it :p *long term thinking*

I've played like 500 hours of this game and I'm so desperate for it to get some traction. It's such an insanely fun game that adds so much to the gap between RTS and Autobattlers, being more hardcore and less RNG than autobattlers and more chill than RTS while retaining the strategic depth, the meta and meta counters etc. The devs are really on the ball with making things not OP for too long and have a genuinely good plan for it long term. Thanks for enjoying this and giving it some extra players Grubby!

15ish minute matches, light RNG so you can't play the same strat every game, no need for crazy micro skills, and a FFA mode that's total chaos for unserious play away from the 1v1 matchmaking and tournaments. What's not to like?

Grubby in the 2nd building you can buy reselling squads of units for 200 if i remember, its for whole game every round 1 squad can be sold for 100% cost, so you can reposition units or change comp/strat/flank etc its one of most important upgrades to buy.

a good rule of thumb is that roughly 2/3 of all your units should be chaff, spread out as both late and early chaff. Doing this will shoot up your mmr

It's so satisfying to see lower level players improve. Plus the games are much more diverse and fun to dive into the chaos on non-meta plays.

cannon fodder, arclights do have a air spec option, you need to unlock all the tech and customize your game load outs to match your play style, have fun!

Big fan of Elite specialist, Your units can bully the opponents but the increased costs demand you use them wisely.

Their struggle to create chaff makes it very difficult to use. I would never pick Elite if it doesn't have starting fangs/crawlers included. They are also slow to adapt in the early game, but if they can hang on without losing too much tempo, they're quite strong in the late game.

Losing round 1 is not that wrong vs phoenix, since you can go double mustang round 2, and marksman not always great if the phoenix protected by a lot of chaff. Either way, it was pretty unfavored for opponent, steel ball start vs phoenix start, meaning they were behind in terms of anti air and in chaff clear (due to lvl 2 crawlers from elite). Even if they didn't make the other mistakes it would have been tough to stabilize.

Yup, in higher level play generally speaking gunning for a round 1 win isn't really all that important given how little damage will be done. It's more important to set up your units for whatever your strategy is long-term, especially if you're a standard/defensive style player.

So Grubby, now that I hear you talking about Planetfall, I need to know, what is your favorite Secret Tech and what is your favorite faction? Umbral and Shakarrr fan here (though not together, since they don't synergize quite as well as I'd like)
