Airfryer Birthday Chocolate Cake: Sweet 16

Well it's birthday time and since myself and Jack's birthday are so close, we have always shared the cake. I've made our cake for years but last year, felt a bit lazy so bought a bog standard asda one for a tenner and boy was it super sweet, sickly sweet that we couldn't face it when my birthday came along. So I vowed that this year I would make our cake again, I wasn't planning on any youtube channel so it's been fun to film the making of it. In total, including the buttercream, the whole cake cost £3 - significantly cheaper than last years cake and not so sickly sweet as well.
I also upped my game with the buttercream and the piping bag, something I wouldn't normally bother with, even for a birthday :D so its been great having my medicore skills being stretched.

200g sugar
200g softened butter/marg
4 large eggs
200g self raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Hi Kerry. I have the cosori, a much more efficient air fryer than the tower or ninja. The broil function is a must for toasted cheese sandwiches. Also the quality of the drawer is better. My tower was a nightmare to get clean on the sides and I eventually gave it away. Yorkshire puddings were marvellous. Perhaps the dual element is a contributing success factor to the cosori.

Kerry, that looks absolutely sensational. One criticism though. There was not nearly enough of the cake mix left in the bowl. I used to love it when Mum used to make cakes on a Sunday morning, and I always got to lick the bowl out. In other words, silicone spatulas are not good for your kids! X

Well my dual blaze came today so I made a betty Crocker cake as it was in the cupboard. It turned out well, I also tried some sausage rolls and they cooked perfectly. It's good when the bottom gets cooked as well. At least with watching you and a couple of other people i had a good idea how it works. I'm really pleased with it.

Yummy! Lucky birthday boy! Did you know that instead of milk you can add a drop of strong coffee to a chocolate cake mix and it will taste extra chocolatly? You don't taste the coffee just the chocolate and vanilla.

Happy birthday 🎂🎁🎉, to you and your son Kerry your cake looks absolutely gorgeous, I could just eat a piece. My cosori dual blaze is coming tomorrow so I will definitely b trying this. Kerry can I ask a question, with it being your own recipe could you make a bit of a hole in the middle and spread that mixture to the sides, I do that with my Xmas cake and you get a flat top. I know when I've made a betty Crocker cake you can't do it because the mixture is to runny so I get a some shape and have to cut the top off. There's only one problem with making these cakes you have to eat them. You also did a very good job of icing it. I forgot to say I usually put some cherry jam in the middle and I've also used chocolate hazelnut spread for the filling if i was going to put melted chocolate on the top. It makes for a quick filling. I'm going to show my husband, he would want some as well, it's his favourite

Not sure which GoPro you have, but you could try this, but do it slowly and methodically 😃 It might be easier to copy/paste this text into a text editor and list the instructions instead 👍GoPro - turn it on. Pull down the screen from the top. Lots of circles appear. Ignore them. Swipe left, but make sure you're touching the far right of the screen, then swiping, so you don't select any of the circles. Tap Preferences. Tap General. Scroll up to show Anti-Flicker. Tap it. Slide 60Hz up to select 50Hz (should turn blue). Tap bottom of screen to exit. Pull screen down to show GENERAL at the top. Tap left arrow. It returns to PREFERENCES. Tap left arrow. It shows Connections and Preferences. There is a small bar at the bottom of the screen. Drag upwards from there.

@@budgetcookinguk I've just checked and apparently there's a bug 😫😫 "Hi all, I had this very same issue, also with the latest firmware installed, how I got around it wasn't a factory reset on the camera, I simply did a settings reset, then attempted the switch from 60hz to 50hz, bingo worked instantly without restarting. ​"

@@philipareed thank you a million times Philip because that actually worked!! I did a settings reset and had to reconnect to the app etc but when I changed 60hz to 50hz it stayed on 50hz!! So hopefully that makes a big difference to the flickering, will test it tomz. Big help, thanks again👍👍👍
