Love the channel, i went to a local county show last week with our business and on my day off i took my 13 yr old son, who has never shot before to the BASC country display area. He shot 10 shots from a BSA Ultra and had under a 3/4" group at 15 yds. The instructor was very impressed and shook my hand. I said i had never introduced him to airgun shooting and wanted to as i have been out of the sport for 20 years. Now i have ordered a new rifle for him to cut his teeth and for me to get back into the sport. I really miss it, so cant wait for more shooting fun and adventures.

I have always found the best bait for crows to be anything orange. The nosey bastards can't resist it. The ultimate is a bag of Cheetos or Wotsits. Just open the bag and lay it down with half a dozen pieces on the ground, one hour before sunset.... I grew up in Aberdeenshire Scotland and now live in California...and "orange is still king". For what it's worth.

Hi. I'm a wildlife manager from Norway. When I was in school we did a exsamination on feeding birds and found that it actually do not matter all that much, the one thing that matter is the proximity to shelter from predators. I think maybe this could be a fakotor that could bias your survay on what crows prefer as well

I too have tried a plethora of pellets & concur that a quality round head is most reliable with honorable mentions going to The Crosman Destroyer which is a hollow point, with a point that is pretty accurate & has a lot of damaging impact energy,... The other being the Crosman Gold Flight which is "okay" for accuracy but excellent for penetration so it's great for close head shots.

Great show fella's really liked the footage James got using different baits for crows, I've always had great success with a dead rabbit but heard of a gentleman who's favorite bait for his Larsen trap was a carton of fish and chips. Oh and who was making a horse's ass of themselfs behind Roy at the end?

I'm what the point was to the HMS Hood thing. Surely in shooting (and military gunnery) the the term 'cant' refers to lateral tilt, not elevation?
@fieldsportstv10 жыл бұрын
I meant 'elevation angle' - which I think is the same as cant. My sloppy use of 'elevation'. Isn't lateral tilt the measurement for pitch correction? Sorry you didn't like it. I want this to be a fun way to explain airgun ballistics. The next one is a re-cre of sharpshooting at the Battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse... you might not like that either! / Charlie
@ookiemand10 жыл бұрын
I do find the historic angle (pun intended) a nice addition, especially if you use that story to teach an (air)gun novice ballistic principles. For the Hood-Bismark example, you might be better off having asked the question before you bring this historical challenge to the table. Add some Frits smack talk and you're set :D High arc shooting is also fun with paintball markers btw. And if your garden is long enough why not load up some monster pellets in a dialled down PCP and have a blast. Great to have some long distance fun with an air-rifle.

I don't agree on the rounded pellets bit. Pointed pellets do far better than rounded ones for my air rifle. Could be just my rifle on this one.
@HILUXCHAINSAW7 жыл бұрын
Pointed pellets should not be used for pest control as they don't do enough damage.

the effective range of a 177 is more than 35 yards iv hit hairs at 100yards
@therodenthitman7 жыл бұрын
Being able to hit something doesn't necessarily make it effective. Would it be likely to bounce off? YES, the odds of a humane kill? LOW So yes the "effective" range of a .177 is way below 100 meters

if you love your birds than set them free!!! so they can look for food as nature intended, train to be in the wild. they should not be dependent on you to survive people should never feed birds, because they are being ''deprived '' from using their natural instinct to fend from themselves. >?????
@ethanlee-c3d3 жыл бұрын
Jenny. Nonsense. They aren’t likely to survive from just people feeding them. Because people feeding birds aren’t really consistent. But it helps.

This is what happens when you can't own a real gun?
@wagstag893 жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter how many "real guns" you have. If you've never hunted with air rifles you're the one missing out. I kill more small game with an air rifle than I do anything else because it's quieter doesn't alert other game in the area. I've killed multiple squirrels from the same tree several times because they couldn't figure out what was going on.
