You have to experience Brazil to understand. I went to an international conference there, which had been held in many other countries in the past. There were lots of problems with logistics and organization. Not nearly as organized as in other countries. But almost all attendees agreed they enjoyed the conference there more than at any other the other locations in the past. Didn’t feel like hell at all.

So there another way without using ship now?
@George-wx9dj4 жыл бұрын
So now no ship to deliver supplies or vehicles. This aircraft can only handle so much cargo, so I will assume they have a cargo plane making deliveries also. What do they do when someone needs a car delivered?

@athopi5 жыл бұрын
I thought the takeoff run seemed rather protracted. My first time watching this plane so my point of reference is other small jets... was going to ask if these units are under powered for their class. Edit: As a side, watched a doco some time back about the island and learned that the airport paved over a lot of the habitat for the "Broken Wing Bird". Sad... I remember reading about them in grade school...
@goytabr5 жыл бұрын
@@athopi, that was not the biggest environmental problem. The bird has other nesting places, although it's a nearly flightless bird that mostly roams the ground and there have been cases of it being run over on the road to the airport. The biggest problem was that they had to make a landfill to make the runway go over a small canyon. Small, but home to over 40 unique (endemic) species of insects, snails and plants. And they were endemic not just to Saint Helena, but to that canyon alone. Only a small part of the canyon was landfilled and the species, or at least most of them, may have survived, but biologists haven't studied the place again to check the damage yet.

Windhoek is hot and dry. Aircraft need more runway to rotate. That runway is almost 3 miles long.
@Kev3766 жыл бұрын
I was just thinking the same thing... And knowing how heavy that plane probably was carrying cargo, that landing was that much more painful. The airport was built in a horrible area for turbulent wind. Just a reference, the british stopped boating cargo into that island after the airport opened, so yes the planes are probably all flying in with max cargo on top of everything.
@kurtbrandso20876 жыл бұрын
Yep, I Was thinking that as well, it looks like a hot and high altitude airport with a runway at least 2 km's long similar to Alice Springs airport Australia where I used to live. A/S airport has a very long runway and quite often got new airbus and Boeing planes on test runs, and still does. Some day I will take a flight to St Helena myself which I am sure will a test of nerves watching from the window when landing on seemingly high mountain tops. Good video, I enjoyed it.

@alphaomega34995 жыл бұрын
@Ghummo.inhere's another more ultra long haul route, but it cannot be flown non stop: Flying time from Paris to Christchurch = 19,040 km / 11,840 miles, and 24 hours 50 minutes net time aloft. With the one stopover, its a 31 hour total journey. No airliner is capable of completing the route nonstop presently. The incoming new Airbus 350 might be able to do it though.
