And he’s a gun owner, who from his videos seems keen to concealed carry and willing to use said firearm. I’ve enjoyed his content for years but I think a gun owner openly condoning theft is just a step too close to the cranks preparing for the apocalypse. It’s no different from the looters who’d probably be robbing convenience stores, I’m pretty sure he’d take a dim view of that so this seems pretty hypocritical? I wonder if I’ll be subject of one of his next rants about viewers upsetting him. 😂

@@thelankyjim Cody did say that he has been in the boat building business (as i also have, working at a marina) and at marinas, both diesel and petrol (gasoline) are plentiful. I am pretty sure they would be getting a boat legally through a boat charter hire person, team or company. Cody would only resort to "stealing" a boat if the situation was dire, and it was a matter of life & death. I don't know if you are a Christian or not, but Jesus questioned Pharisees who were thinking badly of him for healing on a Sabbath, asking them if their son or ox fell into a well, would they not save the boy or ox? ..."One Sabbath, when Jesus went to eat in the house of a prominent Pharisee, he was being carefully watched.There in front of him was a man suffering from abnormal swelling of his body.Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in the law, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?”But they remained silent. So taking hold of the man, he healed him and sent him on his way.Then he asked them, “If one of you has a child or an ox that falls into a well on the Sabbath day, will you not immediately pull it out?”And they had nothing to say. - Luke 14:1-6 www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke14:1-6&version=NIV " As for a firearm, he would not have time to get one in such a short time and I doubt that he goes anywhere unarmed, as he has a CC licence.

Nice kit, well thought out. My only suggestion is related to your emergency cash - break up the $500 in 20’s into a range of smaller bills. Some 10’s, 5’s and 1’s. The reason for this is because if electronic access to cash is disrupted in a large regional event such as an earthquake, vendors may not have the capacity to make change, and you don’t want to find yourself in a situation where you have to overpay for ‘X’ because the seller can’t or won’t give you change. This is based on my real-world experience during the great Northeast Blackout of 2003, where I found myself stranded in NYC with very little cash and all ATM’s were dead. For what it’s worth, when I travel, I carry $350 in emerg. cash - $100 in 20’s, $100 in 10’s, $100 in 5’s, and $50 in 1’s. Yes it does make for a wad, which I keep together with a simple binder clip. It’s roughly 3/4” thick folded in half. It will fit in a pocket comfortably, or if in an area were crime is a concern, the wad will fit in my sock (wearing long pants of course). Have a safe trip.

So you're going to rapel out of a crashed airplane, make a hasty harness from the webbing and drag your loved one out, then survive overnight in a earthquake torn urban metropolis in your space blanket while living off of energy bars and hydration tablets. You forgot your flashlight so in the morning you'll make your way to a marina with your compass but no map, steal a boat, bandage up your sucking chest wound with your blowout kits after you get shot and if all else fails, you got your emergency $500 to get whatever you forgot. I see you have throughly thought this one though.

I made a survival kit after experiencing the earthquakes. Luckily, I was not close enough to experience any damage, but it might not be so next time. For tools, I got two Gerber mutitiools, demolition wrench, and a demolition hammer. Handy if I need to get out of where I live if a door or window is jammed. I also got food and water to last me for at least 4 days. Also some basic survival things. A lot of thoughts and money...

I mean, think about it. If the situation is bad enough that he simply must leave the city at all costs, how many other people are going to have the exact same idea? I thought the point of being prepared was so you don't have to go out and join the royal rumble for all the stuff people need and don't have. So pinning your hopes on a boat being there, and not looted, or defended seems like skipping straight past every normal person idea and deciding that any disruption in services makes it apocalypse rules.

I don't like the broad generalizations about TSA employees and their intelligence. It's not necessary to make this an effective video. A broad generalization means it's not entirely accurate. These are people working... be complimentary b/c of their insistence to refuse welfare by working and don't degrade their intelligence of which you know nothing about. Your point is well taken and his rhetoric is definitely generalization. But if you fly a lot, or ever watch those T.V. shows on the TSA (and DHS) you know that it's a generally accurate generalization. And you'll also know what kind of criminal behavior they are engaged in (confiscating [stealing] legal property which is allowed under TSA regulations). And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

If you have time, come to Orange County. I'll give you a tour of our radio station and send you home with some good quality swag. As far as terrestrial radio... it depends on your market. Los Angeles has some dedicated stations who will be on the air through almost any disaster. Smaller markets will probably be without radio. There's a big push to eliminate AM radio stations and owners are trying to extract higher profit margins and not maintaining their equipment. I'm not too confident that many markets would have functioning radio stations on the air during disasters for for many days after a disaster.

I’m a long time fan Cody, but some of the themes you covered in this video seem to fly in the face of things like the manly manners series. More distressing than that is the justifications I see from others for abandoning moral principles. From the discussions in the comments it seems as though we can be rude and nasty towards people if disagree with them or the institution they work for. It also seems we can discard our ethical and moral obligations if we find ourselves in a dangerous or distressing situation. I would argue a truly honorable man would extend kindness and understanding to all people and that in dire straits, when it is hard to stick to our convictions, is when you truly see what a man is made of. Just my two cents. Health and happiness to your family man.

I am not a TSA employee, I am retired and have flown many times in my life, and rarely ever had even a small issue with them. Most TSA employees I have encountered are just doing their jobs, and most of them were there working last year even when they were not getting paid due to the idiotic government “shutdown”. Had they not been working without paychecks, our flying delays would have been horrendous. Cut them some slack, they are not as you portray them. Also you profess often to be a good Christian, but that attitude toward your fellow humans does not support that premise at all. Michael O. Alabama, USA

I get why personally you want to head to a Marina because that's where you skills and knowledge are. However, right after an earthquake we're told to avoid coastal areas due to the risk of tsunami. Is the relative risk/reward worth that?
@mr.h54365 жыл бұрын
I doubt tsunamis are a danger at the point of origin for the quake. LA would broadcast a wave to other parts of the coast/Hawaii/Mexico. Millions of ppl in LA have a disaster plan. The roads will be impassable for a while, 14 lane parking lots. It's best to wait at the hotel with food and water. A rental car with a 1/2 tank of gas will get farther , faster to unaffected areas.
