Haha I would "takeout" drinks too. As you said, they'll be finished. And I mean just don't be too overt about it. Great video Calby.
@zachary36033 ай бұрын
Just a quick one. Intercontinental lounges, you don't get lounge access with Ambassador (if you did that would be a fantastic deal). You only get it with Royal Ambassador, which is their invite only membership that you get by using Ambassador at lots of high end hotels. Further, the $300 upgrades to lounges you're talking about. They tend to be for lounges with A la Carte menu's which are basically full time 5* restaurants where you can eat whatever you want. When you think about this, it's quite a good value benefit if you and a partner / friend are going to make a point of eating at the hotel. Anyways, love the channel!
@CalbyNg3 ай бұрын
Oh yep, maybe I wasn't clear as I should have been in the video, but any IHG statues don't get you into a lounge unless it's the Royal Ambassador. So you're totally right on that. However it's interesting you bring up the invite only. This was the first time I ever stayed at an IHG property; with my status, let alone an Intercontinental. After my stay I was almost immediately (a week after) invited to buy the Royal Ambassador membership. I thought it would be more exclusive, haha. Ohhhhhhh that's interesting! So maybe $300 upgrade is worth it then. I for sure read and seen they can be insane! Good to know an actual experience when staying at these top tier hotel lounges. Thanks Zachary! Appreciate your knowledge and being here!!

@@CalbyNg Instant invite, that's amazing man! Did you mention you had a YT etc? We have several channels, (2.5m, 150k) are our main subs for our gaming roleplays. But we're going for a travel channel next as we hit so many of these hotels on our travels it would be criminal not to. Will probably be a flop, but thinking of tying it in with a luxury travel agents license and use YT to bring in potential clients that want to copy our hoildays etc. How's it all been going for you?

@@zachary3603 Right! I was very surprised!! Hey that's awesome, seems like you're taking KZbin by storm! I think that's a smart plan to tie a travel agency to a travel KZbin; travel agents can be very beneficial. As for me, I was in talks with a travel agency; however, I haven't done anything yet. I'm going to experience them in September before I actually say anything about them.

I think most credit card KZbinrs have not been to a good non-Priority pass lounge outside of the US. Cathay Pacific lounge in Hong Kong or China Airlines lounge and Starlux lounges, both in Taipei/Taoyuan, Taiwan are to die for.

I've had some great lounge experiences with hotel lounges. I live in Asia and the lounges can be over the top. From lobster omelets, to caviar. One of the best benefits to lounge access is when the lounge serves breakfast. The lounge is usually less crowded than the regular breakfast area and has a different selection, so you have both options available. A lot of the lounges over here serve better food than I've found at a lot of airport options.

During a recent trip to Europe, i made sure to reserve an “executive room” with lounge access at Marriott property. The daily breakfast & dinner is a huge plus for the family.

I've had the JP Morgan Ritz-Carlton Card for a few years now. I've so far only stayed at seven Ritz-Carlton Hotels all in the USA up to now. I've used my free club level upgrade certificates for most of my stays and the experience has been amazing!!! Every property so far has not disappointed me. Great breakfast, very good lunch and a good light serving for dinner. Open bar all day. Top shelf liquor and some had very nice made to order cocktails. Lounges were also clean, quiet and resembles a luxury living room. I admit I wouldn't have paid the expensive prices they charge for the club level which makes these certificates that much more valuable!!!

I’ve been right outside a few Hilton Diamond lounges, and during that time they were all closed since it was around 2020 I believe. Really haven’t seen any in awhile. I’ll be staying at a JW soon that has a lounge, so I’m excited to see what they offer there. Good stuff Calby, great to learn more about hotel lounges!
@CalbyNg4 ай бұрын
Yeah, Luke was telling me about that. He told me many Hilton lounges domestically just never opened back up; which is a total shame. That’ll be a cool experience! The staff at the Grand Hyatt told me they would like to work at a JW Marriott one day; so I bet it’ll be awesome! For sure man, thanks for popping by Anthony!

I think the problem with hotel lounges is that you have to use it to enjoy it. So going to hotel lounges comes at the cost of not being able to enjoy other local restaurants. I don't see myself going out of the way to gain access to hotel lounges.
@CalbyNg4 ай бұрын
Oh for sure I’ve had that problem. How I’ve used them so far are for my anniversary; so we weren’t planning to do much anyways. Also for the last day of a long trip; just kind of a chill day before heading back home. However I totally see and understand your point John 👍

The ritz Carlton lounge blew every restaurant in the local area out of the water in Dubai. Not only that, the food we ordered would of cost more than the room in local places. We had 5* a la carte all day. Unlimited drinks all day. Even bottles of high end beverages to take out on your travels. All of this was from a free upgrade to an executive room also. It was absolutely incredible value.

I'm going to have to disagree with you here. I have been to many lounges, hotel and airport, and hotel lounges don't compare. The food is rarely any good. The views at the club lounges can be nice, but when it comes to what i expect from a hotel lounge, they typically won't be anything better than an admirals club. Most hotel club lounges only have alcohol and the best stuff for like 2hr of the day during happy hr and will either be closed for the remainder of the day or have breakfast. With Priority Pass and lounges you can get from a credit card, you get 3hrs, but with business class lounges, you can be there all day (some even let you come in on arrival as well). First-class lounges can be on a whole other level. Some feel like a fance restaurant where you can order high-quality food off the menu and get name brand drinks.

That makes sense, I’ve mostly experienced Admiral Clubs and Skyclubs so my viewpoint may be skewed. Plus I think I was riding high from the experience I had at the Grand Hyatt. I just loved the one on one service and it was just a comfortable place to hang out and work without hoards of people. But it’s good to get your view point JP; as an experienced traveler! Appreciate you stopping by JP!!

I totally forgot to ask about lounge access at the Ritz last time. We had access to their lounge in Maui and Naples. The lounges actually make the stay much nicer!
@OfficialChadsMoneyMinutes4 ай бұрын
Hey bro I gotta push back a little on this on the basis of utility. The airport lounges are more of a choice as you can get to the airport and run onto the plane thereby negating the need for them. But a hotel lounge hits me a little different and I had a great experience in all of them both domestic and internationally I think their uses and the amenities kind of balance them out with one another as a hotel lounge is more of a use at will hang out and refresh type of place.
@CalbyNg4 ай бұрын
Hmmm those are good points and good ways to think about them both; especially since you can speak to way more travel experiences than myself. So far I’ve only dipped my toes into hotel lounges; prbly just enjoying a different experience than what I’m use to.

I’ve been to a few hotel lounges now and the food isn’t great. However, having a family and small kids it saves you SO MUCH MONEY! It’s nice not having to pay $25-$35 a plate for breakfast for my son (2) or nephews (3 & 7) to only eat half a pancake. Just grab a few packs of cereal, milk, and some fruit and they’re good to go. It’s really nice when exploring the city or local area and you can supplement the snack supply for the day.
