Helpful info thanks. No need for the scandalous disclaimer at beginning tho... ha. My generator had a different issue. All three windings on the alternator were shorted together, so the enamel on the wires must have worn or burned away.

Thanks for the information. I would have put more silicon grease every where. But that is just me,I love silicone grease, it helps keep out water coats things nice and stays put and works in all temperature, well unless you get it really hot.

Depending on the width of the bearing, sometimes you can find 2 bearings that you can put together to make the same width. This generally is a lot cheaper. These special bearings can be expensive.

Wayne, I reviewed the video and saw how you removed the yaw assembly and how you replaced the assembly. However, I saw nothing of how you fixed the basic problem of the wire connection. After you removed it, what did you do to fix the incomplete circuit problem?

David Bruno Hi David I did not fix it but replaced it with one from an older non working unit that I had. I am not sure you could fix the problem this one had as it seemed to be within the molded plastic. I think the only option in a case like this is to simply replace the whole part. Could you please tell me where you are getting your new Yaw bearing etc. I bought the aluminum housing model FDH400 ( used ) of which I am sure is an AirX version. The previous owner let the blade hub get loose and it proceeded to semi wear out the Yaw bearing thus causing the Yaw contacts to become non-conductive mostly the middle ring. Any help would be more than appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

+VintageGearMan There is nothing special about the bearings and any industrial bearing store should be able to help out. Grainger's or McMaster Carr might be a good source as well. Good luck let us know how you make out.

Great video! Thank you. My AirX Marine just stopped producing energy today. The blades are spinning as they always do (with the same noise and speed), even when the engine alternator charges the batteries to 14.1V, the unit stops spinning and goes to regulation mode. However, the led is not blinking neither on the regulation mode, nor while spinning. And there’s no output. Everything seems to be normal apart from the red led being always off. I couldn’t solve this.

Other than the LED how do you know it is not producing? Have you checked with an amp meter?

I know there are better wind generators out there and I do not have a lot of experience with the others, I hear good things about the KISS unit. I use the Airx because there are a lot of them out there and you can get good deals on used ones.

coolbluetoo I have solar as well. I have found the combination of both work well. The solar is better in the marina or inland anchorages but the wind is a big help on offshore passages and when anchoring where there is a sea breeze. I do need to increase the solar I have.

Hello Wayne Great video Can you tell me what voltage your system is and what amps does it produce as my one is only creating at most 1 amp cant work out why this is a new unit

My system is 12 volt, and if the wind is above 15 kt I can get 5-10 amps. Wind speed has a lot to do with output. Check your wiring to make sure it is the proper size and no bad connections. Thanks

Next time use a something to hold the brushes in place and after inserting the bearinbg and circlip , remove the string or shim.
