I’ve read the chapters in genesis that are mentioned in this video and I can’t piece together the age of 3 years old for Rebekah… what I was able to find by reading ahead (something the video doesn’t point out) was that when Rebekah was found she was drawing water from the spring, gave water to the man and then gave water to camels… I googled it and and apparently camels can drink about 57 liters or about 16 gallons of water…. Considering they had just about finished a long trip, the camels were probably really thirsty…. How can a 3 year old do that much work?
@dliocca70528 ай бұрын
Exactly. A 3 year old can't. There were 10 camels in total and I've read that camels can drink about 20 gallons of water at a time. Even if they only drank 1 gallon each, a 3 year old can't carry that weight. That would be carrying 8 pounds 10 times to water the camels.
@dliocca70526 ай бұрын
@@kolbok157 There are various midrashic traditions for Rebekah’s age when she was married to Isaac. According to one tradition, she was born when Isaac was bound on the altar. Since Isaac was twenty-six years old at the time and forty when he married Rebekah (Gen. 25:20), she was thus fourteen years old when she married (Seder Olam Rabbah 1). Another tradition gives her age as three years and three days when she left her father’s house (Tractate Soferim, Hosafah [addition] 1, 1:4).

Well the Bible claims Sara casted Hagar and Ishmael (as) into to desert because Ishmael (as) mocked isaac(as) and Hagar had to carry Ishmael in the desert and place him under a bush… however Ishmael is 14 years older than isaac so either the verse was invented to make Ishmael look bad or Hagar carried a full grown teenager trough the desert and even had to carry all other things alone without Ishmael helping her. The Bible has many flaws because the Jews manipulated everything

@@As_412 ehh… read the verses again at genesis 21:14-16 “14 So Abraham got up early in the morning and took bread and a skin bottle of water and gave it to Haʹgar. He set these on her shoulder and then sent her away along with the boy. So she departed and wandered about in the wilderness of Beʹer-sheʹba. 15 Finally the water in the skin bottle was used up, and she pushed the boy under one of the bushes. 16 Then she went on and sat down by herself, about the distance of a bowshot away…” No where in there does it say she had to carry Ishmael… the only mention of an interaction between mother and son was in verse 15 where it states that after the water was gone, “she pushed the boy under a bush”…. This doesn’t imply that Hagar had been carrying the 14 year old…. Upon seeing that they had no more water they likely took a break under a tree… the boy fell asleep from tiredness and dehydration. The shadows moved and the boy could have been exposed to the sun. At which point the mom pushed him to where he could have some shade. The kid continued sleeping while she went away to weep… These are shortened versions of stories where not all details were given for the sakes of keeping things simple or something. Chances are that the boy did his fair share in helping his mom out since that was the custom back then, kids helped out their parents…

One slight problem. There is never any indication of how much time passes between the end of chapter 22 (the birth of Rebekah) and the start of chapter 23 (the death of Sarah). Therefore, much time could have passed between the birth of Rebekah and Isaac turning 37, meaning that Rebekah would likely be much older.

That's what I was thinking when I was reading these verses. There is no indication of time between events. My bible just says "after these things" which could mean any time, from 5 minutes after to 50 years after
@blank45028 ай бұрын
@@chasesutherland1168 yeah, there's also a similar argument I like to make against atheists that claim that "since Christianity says that the universe was created ~6000 years ago, it doesn't align with the observed 43 billion years". If you return to Genesis, there is no indication of how long Adam and Eve were in the garden. No seriously, try to find any. Therefore, they could have easily been in there for the 43 billion that science says they had to be.
@dliocca70528 ай бұрын
Not all of the sages agree with Rashi on this either. A problem arises when you read what Rebekah was doing when she's introduced in the Bible. She's carrying a jar on her shoulder for water. She then speaks like a grown woman and says she will draw water for the camels... there were 10 camels. A camel can drink up to 20 gallons at a time. And she was drawing water up for all 10 until they had enough to drink. Show me a 3 year old that can do that let alone know that the family has room for this person and all his camels to stay the night 🙄

You don't know that many fabricated hadiths were written during the time of Prophet Muhammad(pbuh).🤣🤣 There are true hadiths, but there are also some fabricated hadiths among the authentic hadiths. Because Buhari is a human being and can make mistakes...Because some people misuse and spread fabricated hadiths and false stories. It is not permissible for anyone to say, “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said…” when he knows that the hadeeth is mawdoo’ (fabricated) or false. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever tells lies about me deliberately, let him take his place in Hell.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 1291; Muslim, 933. And he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever narrated a hadeeth from me which he thinks is false, then he is one of the liars.” Narrated by Muslim in the Introduction to his Saheeh. Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in Sharh Muslim (1/71): It is haraam to narrate a fabricated hadeeth for one who knows that it is fabricated or who thinks it most likely that it is fabricated. Whoever narrates a hadeeth which he knows or thinks it most likely to be fabricated, and does not explain that it is fabricated, is included in this warning and is included among those who tell lies about the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). This is also indicated by the hadeeth quoted above: “Whoever narrated a hadeeth from me which he thinks is false, then he is one of the liars.” Hence the scholars said that the one who wants to narrate or quote a hadeeth must check it. If it is saheeh or hasan, then he may say, “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said such and such, or did such and such, etc”, expressing certainty. If it is da’eef (weak), then he should not say, “he said” or “he did” or “he commanded” or “he forbade” and other such definitive words, rather he should say, “Such and such was narrated from him” etc, or “it was narrated” or “it was said” or “we heard that” and so on. And Allaah, may He be glorified, knows best. End quote. He also said: With regard to the prohibition on telling lies about the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), no distinction is made between reports which contain rulings and those which do not contain rulings, such as preaching and exhortation, etc. In all cases it is haraam and is a major sin and abhorrent action, according to the consensus of the Muslims whose consensus counts, unlike the innovators who falsely claim that it is permissible for fabricate ahaadeeth of exhortation, and who are followed in that by many of the ignorant who claim to be ascetics. End quote. With regard to what you have done by spreading this fabricated hadeeth, the expiation for that is to ask Allaah for forgiveness and to strive to inform everyone to whom you think you most likely sent this hadeeth that the hadeeth is fabricated. And Allaah burdens not a person beyond his scope [al-Baqarah 2:286]. You should not spread any hadeeth after this until you make sure that they are soundly attributed to the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). And Allaah knows best.

@@himmis4allWhat is the definition of Apocrypha? If you ask any Christian what the word ‘Apocrypha’ means, they would say something along the lines, “it means it is not authentic or spurious.” In other words it is fake. This is a recent meaning. Originally ‘Apocrypha’ meant “secret” or “hidden”, this was the ancient meaning. James Vanderkan “Apocrypha is a plural word (singular: apocryphan) that originally denoted hidden or secret writings, to be read only by initiates into a given Christian group.” [1] Zlatko Plese “The term apocryphan signifies “that which is hidden” or “concealed”- some intimate secret shared only by the chosen few.” [2] Catherine M. Murphy apocryphan- secret or hidden book, such as the Apocryphan of James (a.k.a. secret Book of James). [3] Sylvia Francke “We owe the term apocryphal, since apocryphan in its original connotation means ‘a secret book’.” [4] Diana Webb “…the word apocrypha as it is a word that is greatly misunderstood. It comes from Greek and is formed from the combination of apo (away) and krytein (hide or conceal). Thus, it signifies that which is ‘hidden away’ or ‘concealed’. Apocryphan is the singular form and apocrypha the plural. These words are used to describe the nature of a certain body of ancient religious writings. The word apocrypha, like many other words has undergone a major change in meaning throughout the centuries. With regard to these ancient books, the word apocrypha ORIGINALLY MEANT A TEXT TOO SACRED AND SECRET TO BE IN EVERYONES HANDS. It needed to be hidden away and reserved for the spirituality mature. It was a term of dignity and respect. To those who revered the apocryphal books, they were ‘hidden’ because they contained teachings that were too sacred to be revealed except to the initiated.” [5] Interesting though is how Protestant Christians are quick to reject Apocrypha books. But when we ask them, “Why do you accept the book of Hebrews?” They have no answer. Most scholars agree that they do not know who wrote the book, yet Christians still accept the book as scripture. Mary was 12 years old when betrothed to Joseph ‘History of Joseph the Carpenter’ confirms that Mary was 12 years old when betrothed to Joseph. Chapter 3 and 4 states: 3. Now when righteous Joseph became a widower, my mother Mary, blessed, holy, and pure, was already twelve years old. For her parents offered her in the temple when she was three years of age, and she remained in the temple of the Lord nine years. Then when the priests saw that the virgin, holy and God-fearing, was growing up, they spoke to each other, saying: Let us search out a man, righteous and pious, to whom Mary may be entrusted until the time of her marriage; lest, if she remain in the temple, it happen to her as is wont to happen to women, and lest on that account we sin, and God be angry with us. 4. Therefore they immediately sent out, and assembled twelve old men of the tribe of Judah. And they wrote down the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. And the lot fell upon the pious old man, righteous Joseph. Then the priests answered, and said to my blessed mother: Go with Joseph, and be with him till the time of your marriage. Righteous Joseph therefore received my mother, and led her away to his own house. And Mary found James the Less in his father’s house, broken-hearted and sad on account of the loss of his mother, and she brought him up. Hence Mary was called the mother of James. Luke 24:10 Thereafter Joseph left her at home, and went away to the shop where he wrought at his trade of a carpenter. And after the holy virgin had spent two years in his house her age was exactly fourteen years, including the time at which he received her. [7] Infancy Gospel of James also states she was 12 years old when betrothed to Joseph. See the link here. 2. Marriage in Ancient Jewish times One must remember in ancient Israelite times once a girl was betrothed, sexual intimacy was allowed. There was no law against that, nor does the Bible say anything against it. So, for Mary to be betrothed, it did not mean that Joseph and Mary could not get intimate. Click on the following article I have written on ancient Jewish marriages. 3. Experts agree that Joseph was a very old man De Robigne Mortimer Bennett says: “The following ‘Facts about virgin Mary’ are taken from one of the Apocryphal gospels- the ‘History of Joseph the Carpenter,’ a book that was popular and believed to be genuine in the so-called Evangelical of the Church. It is reproduced here from the ‘Revelations of Antichrist:’ Joseph was a widower with four sons and two daughters, all married but James and Judas. Joseph was a Priest as well as a Carpenter, but lived mostly by the latter trade. Mary had been brought up in the temple till she was twelve years old, when the priests sought to intrust her to the care of some pious old man who wanted a wife. So they assembled twelve old men, who raffled for Mary. The ex-priest and carpenter won and was betrothed to her at once, the marriage to be postponed until she reached a suitable age. But he took her to his house and kept her two years, when she became a mother by the Holy Ghost. When Joseph discovered the condition Mary was in he became sorely troubled, and could not eat or drink for a whole day. He thought of hushing up the scandal by putting her away secretly. (It is not said whether he suspected his son James, who was most tenderly attached to his prospective step-mother. When she first came she found him broken-hearted at the recent loss of his own mother, but the advent of a lovely maiden, who, though some years his junior, assumed the relations of a mother to him, soon assuaged his grief; and she, caring for him as a loving step-mother knows how, became known as ‘the mother of James,’ even before she became a wife to his father. The absence of Joseph, who had to be away at work at his trade, to say nothing of his age, which was then ninety-two, no doubt tended to strengthen the ties between the son and the female guardian.) Joseph was not long left to remain in trouble about the condition of Mary. In the Midst of his distress he fell asleep at noonday, and had a dream, in which Gabriel appeared to him and explained the mystery of the Immaculate Conception. That was enough; happiness was restored. The angelic friend had tied up the storm. The far-off magi made haste to welcome the new-born king of the Jews. But the wicked Herod was wroth with them for not telling where the infant was, so he might go and worship him also. Jesus grew up and worked with his reputed father Joseph at the Carpenter trade, and lived in sweet accord with his two half-brothers, until the death of their father Joseph, who lived to the ripe age of 111 years. These statements should undoubtedly be taken with many grains of allowance.” [8]

And it came to pass, before he had done speaking, that, behold, Rebekah came out, who was born to Bethuel, son of Milcah, the wife of Nahor, Abraham's brother, with her pitcher upon her shoulder. And the damsel was very fair to look upon, a virgin, neither had any man known her: and she went down to the well, and filled her pitcher, and came up. 1.- That book isn’t the Bible. 2.- There clearly say that “He waited for her until she would be Halachically fit for relations.” 3.- There it does not say that Rebekah was a newborn, he is assuming that Abraham was informed about Rebekah's birth immediately after she was born. How did he do it? By email, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram? Abraham's relatives were not in the same city as him. 4.- The Bible does not say that Abraham was informed of Rebekah's birth after what happened to Isaac on the mountain. there he says the following: Genesis 22: 20-24 “Some time later they said to Abraham: Milkah is also a mother; “She has borne children to your brother Nahor: Uz the firstborn, Buz hers hers brother hers, Kemuel (the father of Aram), Kesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaf and Bethuel.” Bethuel begat Rebekah. Milka gave these eight sons to Nahor, Abraham's brother. His concubine, whose name was Reuma, also had sons: Teba, Gaham, Tahash, and Maakah. (which proves my previous point, when Abraham heard the news, his brother already had 8 children with Milcah plus 4 children with his concubine Rheumah. This shows an ambiguity about how much time had passed when Rebekah was born). 5.- In Genesis 24 we can see how Rebekah was already a young woman before she met Isaac.

Although it may seem obvious and if it is mentioned that Mary was a young woman, their age when they married is not specified within the canonical texts of the Bible. The enemies of Muhammad (ﷺ) at that time would ridicule him for anything, but they never mentioned his marriage with aisha (ra). Aisha narrated HERSELF in a Hadith that they were happily married and she never quiestioned Muhammad(ﷺ) of why he married her. People refer Muhammad(ﷺ) as a pedo bc he married her. He proposed when she was six, and waited til she was 9 for her to start her period and to be sexually mature and ready for an intimate relationship. Muhammad (ﷺ) was insanely close to Abu-bakr (the father of aisha) and he and his wife were honoured to have Muhammad (ﷺ) as their daughters husband. If marriage at that age wasn't a normal thing 1400 years ago, would you think that aishas parents would allow Muhammad (ﷺ) to marry their daughter? No so it was not weird then. Aisha (ra) was already engaged with Jubayr ibn Mut'im. Aisha later on was also jealous of Muhammad (ﷺ) of the love he had for is previous wife, Khadijah (ra).If she didn't love Muhammad(ﷺ) why would she be jealous? May Allah guide you all

@@himmis4all from Catholic Encyclopedia Jewish maidens were considered marriageable at the age of twelve years and six months, though the actual age of the bride varied with circumstances. The marriage was preceded by the betrothal, after which the bride legally belonged to the bridegroom, though she did not live with him till about a year later, when the marriage used to be celebrated. All this agrees well with the language of the Evangelists. St. Luke (1:27) calls Mary "a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph"; St. Matthew (1:18) says, "when as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child, of the Holy Ghost". As we know of no brother of Mary, we must suppose that she was an heiress, and was obliged by the law of Numbers 36:6 to marry a member of her tribe. The Law itself prohibited marriage within certain degrees of relationship, so that the marriage of even an heiress was left more or less to choice.

When forty years of age, Joseph married a woman called Melcha or Escha by some, Salome by others; they lived forty-nine years together and had six children, two daughters and four sons, the youngest of whom was James (the Less, "the Lord's brother"). A year after his wife's death, as the priests announced through Judea that they wished to find in the tribe of Juda a respectable man to espouse Mary, then twelve to fourteen years of age. Joseph, who was at the time ninety years old, went up to Jerusalem among the candidates; a miracle manifested the choice God had made of Joseph, and two years later the Annunciation took place.

Numbers 31:17-18 (KJV) This is one of the most disturbing set of passages that I have come across in the Bible. These passages basically state to Moses’s soldiers that it’s ‘OK’ to have sexual relations with “women children” that are obtained in war. The translation for “women children” is very misleading and it has been deliberately translated that way to deceive readers. In fact, when we look at the Hebrew words used for the verse, it just says female “children”, “little ones”. My friend isn’t your god is the god of Moses soldiers?

On the second one: Matthew 1:18-25 says literally nothing about ages. And forget the Catholic encyclopedia, actually read the text. As for all the others, God himself says that there are those among us that claim to be Christian but do not follow the ways. In fact, even if Isaac DID marry a 3 year-old, so what? Perhaps he was just a bad person in that aspect.

@@QuoteNevermore In the modern age, by far the most popular polemic against Islam is the alleged “immorality” of Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) marriage to Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). It is well-known that the two were married when Aisha was six years old and the marriage was consummated when she turned nine. Many atheists, and for some reason, Christians as well, have taken issue with this and have used it to mock Islam and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The fact is that using modern and secular standards to judge how people lived hundreds of years ago is anachronistic and absurd. Just because social maturity is now occurring later in life does not mean that people in ancient times could not mature earlier. It was for this reason that the marriage of Muhammad and Aisha was never a controversial subject until the early 20th century.[1] Ancient societies had a different definition of “adulthood” than in modern times. But while atheists will no doubt continue to deride the blessed marriage of Prophet Muhammad to Aisha based on their ever-changing opinions on “morality”, there does not seem to be a Biblical reason for Christians to do the same. Other researchers have already provided ample evidence from the Bible for what would be considered “child marriage” in the modern age.[2] But this has not convinced secularized Christians, who seem to be in a state of denial. In this article, I will make my humble contribution to helping these Christians overcome their denial and accept the fact that there was nothing Biblically wrong with Muhammad’s marriage to Aisha. This article will demonstrate that the Biblical standard for age of marriage was, at a minimum, the onset of puberty. The Age of Marriage in the Bible It is well-established that people tended to marry early in ancient societies. This is neither a matter of debate nor controversy. Even up to the 20th century, it was not uncommon for girls as young as 10 years old to get legally married.[3] Biblical times were no different. Psychologist Dr. Robert Epstein observes that there are no age restrictions mentioned in the Bible (the Tanakh or the New Testament), except one for “military conscription” (20 years) and one for priests (25 years).[4] He then states that (emphasis ours): “[a]ge requirements are lacking for just about every other activity or right or penalty one can imagine: ruling, marrying, having children, working, being punished for breaking a law, owning property, making blind agreements, drinking alcohol, leaving home, traveling, studying, riding chariots, and so on. Young people in the Bible did it all.”[5]
@omarmassoud62758 ай бұрын
@@QuoteNevermoreHe also provides the well-known example of Mary’s age when she gave birth to Jesus (peace be upon him). Despite the protests of some Christians, it is almost certain that, given the marriage practices of her time, Mary would have been married by age 12 and conceived Jesus no later than age 13.[6] Epstein states that (emphasis ours): “[h]istorians are pretty sure that Mary had just entered puberty when Jesus was conceived. As a peasant in Nazareth she almost certainly would have been married off around the time [of] puberty. […] In short, there is every reason to believe that the Virgin Mary-the mother of one of the world’s major religions-was a young mother indeed.”[7] So, in Mary and Jesus’ time, the earliest appropriate age of marriage was around the onset of puberty, which was around age 12. The Mishnah, which was completed around the beginning of the 3rd century CE, notes this as the average age as well.[8] Evidence from the New Testament and Christian History - Evidence for this view can be found in the New Testament and extra-biblical sources, such as the early church fathers. In Mark 5, Jesus revives a 12-year old girl (Mark 5:42). However, in Luke’s version, the girl’s age was “about twelve” (Luke 8:42). However, in Matthew 9, no age is given. This is explained in the commentary on Matthew 9:18 in Gill’s Exposition of the Entire Bible: “Mark calls her his ‘little daughter’: though both he and Luke say, she was about ‘twelve’ years of age, and that with strict propriety, according to the Jewish canons, which say; that ‘a daughter, from the day of her birth until she is twelve years complete, is called ‘a little one’ and when she is twelve years of age, and one day and upwards, she is called ‘a young woman’.’’”[9]

@@saeedahmed6416 im good proud to be a Christian and proud, listen to the video again so it clearly states Isaac was ("37 years "OLD") and then we continues talking until he reaches Rebecca he points to the scripture which says ("three years") so maybe she was 40 or 34 this guy filled in the scripture by saying (three years old/ age") hes lying as he usually does watch the video again If you don't believe me also in a weird way hes backing up Mohamed that its ok he married a 6 year old and did it when she was 9 which clearly says this.

Rebecca was so strong when 3 years old that she could fill and carry water pots and water several camels Also teenagers or older children were sent to do chores not three year old Three year olds can't communicate or speak well and your telling me that Rebecca while 3 years old carried heavy pots watered several camels alone Communicated with Abraham's slave Bring them to her father Stop waffling

This can be True Because a Rabbi said A 3yr old Girl now is Not Equal to the 3yr old Thousands of Years ago. A 3yr old then can be 15 to 18yr old now but I'm not sure just a Guess.

True, thats how we explain the marriage of Aisha r.a to them, today's standards are not like a few hundred years ago let alone 1400 years ago We don't bring the argument that Rebecca was married at 3 except if they try to abuse Aisha r.a

@@OneMessageShorts This is how people gets misguided. Read Genesis 24:16 where Torah describes Refka - “The woman was very beautiful, a virgin; no man had ever slept with her. She went down to the spring, filled her jar and came up again.” Is it a 3 year old child’s description?

Issac married a 3 year old

The ages of the patriarchs likely arent literal if you examine the cultural context. If you bothered to actually read, youll see Rebekah carried out physical tasks that are not possible for a 3 year old to perform solidifying this further. Even if this was correct, it wouldnt justify Isaac marrying a 3 year old. All you guys do is try to justify muhammad marrying Aisha, but you cant compare our prophets with muhammad because the quran clearly distinguishes muhammad as a "great prophet of all ages" and defines him as a great moral example for humanity. Nowhere in the Bible are any prophets defined this way.

There are two perspectives regarding the age of Aisha when she married Prophet Muhammad: **First Perspective: Ages 18 and over** - Aisha's sister, Hz. Asma, is reported to be ten years older than Aisha. - Historical sources indicate that Asma died at the age of one hundred in 73 H, which suggests that she was 27 or 28 years old when Prophet Muhammad migrated to Medina. - When Aisha's marriage took place in H. 2, she would have been around 18 or 19 years old. **Second Perspective: About 14 years old** - Some argue that Aisha was around 14 years old when she married. - Evidence supporting this includes Tabari's report that Abu Bakr, Aisha's father, had four children before Islam. If Aisha was born before Islam, she would have been at least 14 years old in H. - It's also noted that Aisha's sister, Fatima, was five years older than Aisha. When Fatima was born, the Prophet Muhammad was 35 years old, which aligns with Aisha being around 14 at the time of her marriage. Iraqi Narrators and Discrepancies: - All the narrators of the hadith about Aisha's age are Iraqis who heard it from Hisham. - Some scholars argue that there was a deliberate and malicious alteration made later to the original narrative. The word "Tissa Ash’ara," meaning 19, was changed to "Tissa," meaning nine. - This change in wording raises questions about the authenticity of the age narrative, as it goes against many historical facts of the time. All Hadith compilers always said that they do not take full responsibility of the hadith they wrote as they narrated it from a person that heard it from another which heard it from another person, so there is a possibility that a hadith might have been altered or fully changed in the process or even politically based and corrupted, and in case someone found a hadith that contradicts the Quran, then the person should resort to applying what the Quran says and ditch the hadith that goes against it, after all Quran > Hadith
