Being conflicted about Jinx and unsure/uncomfortable about her relationship with Silco at this point is definitely intentional. Questions are being presented, and answers will come with time
@blackshard6413 ай бұрын
"What's going on here?" Yeah. Given Silco's nonreaction, there's no implication that boundaries are actually being crossed, but it's definitely supposed to make you feel uncomfortable. Jinx is in a state of arrested development, still emotionally a child in the body of a teenager. There were (mostly) small indicators in the first Act that she might have had a predisposition to emotional instability and psychosis, but that night utterly broke her. It's kind of heartbreaking.

I think one of the lessons of Arcane is that there are no right or wrong feelings, just what we feel. We're human and we feel for other beings. And nobody in Arcane is always right and few are always good, but also few if any are always wrong and none are entirely evil.
@j.f.fisher53182 ай бұрын
And a bit of a peek behind the curtain of how the magic was made (per Bridging the Rift)... ...the rig used to animate Jinx... ... is able to morph smoothly between Jinx's face and Powder's so they can represent where her mental state is between those two sides of her self in any given moment. 😭

one thing that I don't hear very often is that Silco was absolutely terrible at discipline with Jinx (you can see it in this episode several times). It is like she was never taught boundaries. Just a word to increase your viewing experience, before watching episode 7, be sure to watch the Imagine Dragons video of 'Enemy'. It adds somewhat important backstory.
@j.f.fisher53182 ай бұрын
It's difficult to discipline someone you admire. Silco loves monsters (see his speech to Deckard in E2) and Jinx especially. He isn't physically powerful the way he sees thar she can be.

Jinx, that girl you DON'T bring home to meet the parents... lol Seriously, Powder is older, more capable, and still the child seeking approval who never grew up. When you get a bit further in, or after the series, 100% be sure to watch the 'Enemy' and 'Get Jinxed' music videos. As well as to check out 'Bridging the Rift' making of Arcane videos.

great observation with the matching cloud tattoos! I hope you remember them for a later stage in the season; they're just another lovely detail that adds to the depth of Arcane's plot. ps: I was kinda worried that you weren't going to continue the season after ep 3 when I didn't see your update the next day...but super glad you did! XD

I actually know several people that didnt continue after episode 3 and didnt want to talk about it. I feel bad that it hurt them that way, and hope they try again in the future, but will not push them if it harms any deep rooted trauma they have. It hurt me for sure, hit close to home for sure, but I knew the beauty of it. I'd rather have something connect to me emotionally even if it hurts than something I can't relate to at all.
@kakesisthename86852 ай бұрын
@@3dCraddock so true - it takes a lot of strength to chose to relate to something that reflects so much internal hurt, than not relating anything at all. I completely agree that the beauty of stories like Arcane lies that very ability to stir its viewers so deeply.... i just sometimes wish that we could feel these emotions and be this stirred without getting so attached in a way that does more harm than good, or at least in a way that lets us move on from it and absorb what the story has next in store for us. I hope your friends do one day continue with the series :(

I would stress that you should reserve judgement of any character until the end. Even then, probably until the end of Season 2.

First off, I am loving your reactions - this is a great series, and you're really catching a huge number of details and suchlike. Bravo! Couple of quick things - you caught that Viktor is looking much rougher - did you notice that he's graduated from a walking stick to a full crutch? The drunk guys on the airship are versions of some of the animation studio's artists (as was the guy ejected from the brothel in Ep1). And, yes, Silco and Powder/Jinx are rather more physically affectionate than you'd expect from an adoptive father and a teenage girl. I believe this is meant to demonstrate a lack of emotional maturity in Jinx - she acts more like a preteen. I'm pretty sure it's not meant to be lewd. Take care!

@j.f.fisher53182 ай бұрын
@@babette5918yeah 7 is what I was going to say. There's one scene that made me tear up every time I thought about it for A YEAR. I'm atypical, the only time I cried about 3 was listening to an analysis of the song and I was standing in line somewhere with headphones in listening to their analysis (Trying to Stan the Music of Arcane) and they got to Goodbye at the end of 3 and next thing you know I'm trying not to obviously just bawl my eyes out in public. When they got to the song in E6 I started hyperventilating. This freaking show.

@@j.f.fisher5318 That guy that did the "Trying to stan" episode on the music without ever seeing the show was amazing. It's a testament to how well the music did at supplementing the story of Arcane. Jinx belongs to a psychopathic personality type, for her the world literally revolves around her. She is incapable of empathy and simply will not be able to understand why she should consider the interests of anyone other than her own. At the same time, a psychopath cannot be blamed for this. This is the difference between an egoist and an egocentric. Selfishness is a choice, a person decides for himself whether to be selfish or not. Egocentrism is a quality of this person's personality, Jinx couldn't stop being egocentric even if she really wanted to.

Powder/Jinx is...complicated. We shouldn't like her character. She's doing some very bad things. But i can't help but root for her to come back and be that sweet, misguided kid from act 1. This though is the BIG ASK the seres puts to the viewers...can a monster ever be foregiven? Should they? This is one of the many reasons why this show is a masterpiece!

I told you that "protect Powder at all costs" is going to be the running theme here. Just didn't specify whom to protect her from... "She's talking to herself!" - nope, of course not, she's not crazy. She's talking to Mylo and Claggor. Why wouldn't she? They are totally alive and well, you can clearly see them sitting right here on the sofa, nothing bad happened to them. There's nothing to fell guilty of...
