actually, i could be wrong about this, but i'm pretty sure the barbie lore is that she's an actress. for example, in barbie: a fashion fairytale, which takes place in the "real world" (the real world still not being ours, but a world with magic and fairies) she goes into her trailer on set and there are posters for some movies that she has supposedly acted in. i'm not entirely sure what they all are, but i distinctly remember there being one of barbie in a mermaid tale. i'm no expert on this, but it seems like the movies where the barbie character is named barbie are the ones that take place in her world, and all the others are movies that she acted in. for example, in mermaid tale, she is named merlea; in christmas carol she is named eden; but in fashion fairytale and all of the movies of barbie and sisters, she is named barbie.
