You guys did a great job out there on that 7 day job. It’s not that I didn’t want the stump buried back in the hole it came from but it fell back into the hole on its own after I cut the 6th round off of it that morning. I didn’t see that happening. I’m going to have a big fire there next winter. Thanks for taking out that other oak for me, looking at the saw cut it looks like it was full of water. Glad it got put on the ground. People always underestimate how hard it is to move heavy shit. You get up early and you get after it early. The drive is going to take how long its going to take. Pushing it and trying to go faster just costs more money in brakes and risks breaking things. Good work man! I still love both my 4500 and 5500, and looking forward to when ram finally steps upto a 10 speed...that'll be the next truck I buy...

Have a 2015 Ram 5500 Manual transmission 4.44 rear end. Towing machine, 150,000 miles mostly all with hydraulic tail gooseneck and truck still like new. Does the Aisin have big gear jump between 3 & 4th gear? Drop almost 1,000 rpm? My manual transmission does. Hard not having something in middle of those gears. Replacing with ford this year and looking into driveline brakes to help slow loads down. Love the Ram dearly but going automatic transmission wanted to try 10 Speed.

Very cool Sam! I really like the "little blue thing"!! I'd love to have one if I could find a nice used one! I still think you got the best bang for the buck with the RAM! That Cummins/Aisin is made to do what you are doing! I think the Duramax/Allison is a distant second. But there is too much pressure made in the engine for a V8 config! That's why the Cummins tuned to ~75% will go 500k miles! Peace --gary

I had a 2019 ram 3500 HO. Now I have a 2022 ram 5500 lariat. I will say straight pull my 3500 had more pull. The 5500 has better brakes and weight handling. But I just wish the option was there to get the HO in the 5500’s

High output 16.1 to 1 370hp 850 torque 19 .0 to 1 .in my opinion your 300 hp 800 torque is 19.0 to 1 .been driving ram 🐏 trucks for 34 years .all had the big c under the hood

I've got the 2021. 3500 Ram single rear tire tow rating of 25k with the HO Cummins and Aisin. Tows awsome.

The ATS Allison swap would be the real way to go. I don't think I would trust a Toyota transmission. ATS says it is overcomplicated and has quite a few weak spots. We will see when you have 100,000 miles towing. As far as power goes, the older gens did just fine with 200 horsepower. Slower on a grade, sure, but still got to the top.

I still tow most every day with stock 427 talldeck big block and a 5x2. My normal combination is about 37k. Anyone that whines about those late-model diesel trucks being underpowered is a princess

The best thing on this truck is the engine brake. I have a 2021 5500. The brakes and engine brake are amazing! The best thing about the transmission is it's reliability. It does shift at weird rpm especially when not in tow haul mode. I would Highly recommended Kelderman air bags for the rear. Makes a much nicer ride! Just the 2 bag system. Big difference!

I have a 2020 5500 with 488 gears, loaded everyday hauling 19-21K does great. My only complaint is the trans tuning could be better. Overall very pleased with the performance. I have to know what is the reason for the red seat belts? Love the content and the channel by the way.

the 6 speed Aisin has issues but thats from 3500. im not sure 5500 inherited the major flaws. Conventional auto trans dont need many gears because of the torque converter. Example is allison 4500 RDS and 1000. The new allison 10 speed for 3500 has major flaws too. Good luck.

What issues are you referring to on the Aisin? The 2013-2021 AS69RC transmissions are about as bulletproof as you can get. Theres a reason companies don't sell individual "upgrades" for the Aisin. If there was a weak point, it would be the clutch drums just because of the "weak" material they're made out of but even then, these transmissions will go 500,000+ miles towing heavy daily.

Hey Sam, fancy seat belts. My 2022 Dodge 1500 4x4 has a ZF 8HP automatic transmission. It is also put in a Rolls Royce. It can shift from 8 gear straight down to 2 gear. It's a German transmission and appearantly highly rated. It might be in your late model Challenger. The only thing that I don't like is the rotary dial shifter. It's just not manly. After 2 months I still try to grab the absent column shifter. Good rant my friend.

I also have a 2001 Dodge 3500 with the column shift. I switch every few days. The dial never fills me with confidence. I know that if I shut the truck off in drive that it will put itself in park and that if I am driving down the road and turn the shifter instead of the fan it will ignore the accidental shift but I would still prefer to have pretend column shifter. I admit the technology is better but it isn't ingrained to me yet. I'm not a kid at 60. It's like and old TV that had a dial to change channels. I change the channel from the reverse channel to the drive channel.

@@VBELTandSON just outside Boston, MA. Your 18' is the perfect size for all the misc things you don't want to get a semi trailer dump for. It's also way less than pulling the Diamond C workhorse dual tandem dump for and isn't asking too much of a 4500/5500 when properly loaded. The 14/16' versions always seemed to be just a hair short.

Power breakes things, so those parts have to be better, so cost goes up. Its nice to say i have x amount of torque or hp, but does no good if you are spitting the trans or driveshaft out.

Most of these rigs now have torque management so you don’t break things. Won’t give full power until rolling hood

​@@VBELTandSON oh I understand I was a Tech for years specializing in electronics. The end result is still power breaks things, it all has to be built to handle it. So your point in the video about your truck having enough power is accurate as it does the job. I am still running a 2003 ram with the HO 555 and it will pull far above its tow rating, stopping (no exhaust brake) and cooling become the problem if the power is turned up for long periods of time. My old truck has done 25k plus a few times and even on stock power levels it never had a problem getting up to speed or maintaining highways speed, even with the 4 speed. Keep up the great videos, I miss hauling stuff around, always loved it.
