In regards to the man who was mad at his daughter for not exchanging his gift for him immediately, my Grandpa is also like that. He has no respect for peoples' time, and expects everyone to be able to drop whatever they're doing and help him immediately. I could absolutely imagine him doing the same thing, though he probably wouldn't escalate it to the extent the father did, he'd just get really passive-aggressive about it.

it's just so weird that someone could find it unthinkable to take their own time to do something, but somehow can't comprehend that what's inconvenient for them is just as inconvenient for someone else. if not moreso because, y'know, you really get nothing out of doing someone else's busywork for them. at least doing something trivial for yourself gets it out of the way in your own life.

55:10 Doctors aren't always the ones to give bad news. I was a Pharmacy Intern (Student Pharmacist), and on my Emergency Medicine rotation, I had to call people with positive STD tests. The worst was telling a young woman that she had herpes. She started crying and said she was raped. It was really really awkward. I thought the worst part of it was having to tell her, but the awkwardness definitely beat that by a long shot. Obviously, this is nothing compared to telling patients they have cancer or a life threatening illness. But it still sucked to do, especially as a Pharmacy Intern who just had plans to work at the Publix Pharmacy down the street verifying prescriptions all day.

I think for the 100 year old vs 7 foot tall people question, there's 2 separate questions. Of people who are born, what % will live to be 100 years old and what % will end up getting to 7 foot tall and... Of people alive currently, how many 7 foot tall people are there vs how many 100 year olds are there. 100 year old people typically only live a couple years past that, so they only count as that old for a short time. Whereas 7 foot people might live for decades that tall (although they do tend to have shorter lives) so each 7 foot tall person is contributing more "time" in that bucket.

34:30 reminds me of Christmas in 2015. I woke up when my mom was yelling that dinner was ready so of course I put a hat on as my hair was a big mess. My dad got so mad and told me to take off the fucking hat. I just ignored him so he started yelling and my brother and mom looked at me and I saw they were pretty uncomfortable with my dads attitude. My dad left his food and said he would not eat any Christmas dinner if I was gonna wear a hat. Okay we said. The rest of us ate up and after we had plans to go to the movies and watch Star Wars episode 7. My dad grew up when the original trilogy was made and was looking forward to seeing the new movie. But since I wore a hat during dinner he was throwing a tantrum and refused to join us. When we got back from the movies my dad was blasting music and drinking spirits in the living room. He was so pissed that we had left him behind and went to see the movie without him.

@@jimmyredd I can assure you it was not about that, but all about pissing my dad off really. I had been wearing a hat inside for 10 years by then. I was 21 when this occurred, but he had already thrown me out a few years prior when I was 16. My mom tried to stop my dad from blowing over me wearing a hat inside. She used to be just like him, but when she went to university in 2006-09 she said she saw people in their 40s and 50s sitting inside with their hats on and then she realised that sitting there being mad over adults wearing hats inside was a waste of mental capacity. I was 21 and too old to be told like a child how to act and behave. She was just happy I would come home for Christmas she said.
