RE: My Baby MIL can we all just applaud the husband for calling out his mom. So many of these stories have push around sons, so I love that he was the one who called out his mom about her bulllllshhhiiii.

I think the dude should maybe eat before he goes over and not take a ton of food at dinner. I have friends who take HUGE plates and then there's not much left for anyone else and it's so frustrating.

I agree he totally should. I think it’s smart to be cautious untill the host pushes people to take food home or eat more

Omg my sister's mother in law did something similar where she kept referring to her daughter to be as "my baby". It comes across as possessive and dismissive of the actual mother's role in birthing and carrying the baby. My sister had a talk with her mother in law and ended up drawing some boundaries. That helped, but I remember it really hurt her. Those words are so triggering especially to a new mom.

Dude. Grandma cannot see the baby. She‘d kidnap it! Hell she might kidnap is anyway omg. Why do people go so mental about babies. I disagree about the second one. I‘m a big lady and if I found out I wasn’t invited because „I eat too much“ it would wreck me. If I knew/saw there was a financial issue I‘d be mindful of that. But if someone didn’t invite me for that reason? Never talking to you ever again.

So, my uncle did this to me, sort of. It was supposed to be a thing where everyone was chipping in for a special dinner, and he told my parents (I was like 12 or 13) that they had to pay twice as much because I "ate enough for a whole family." So we didn't participate and didn't see my uncle or his family for 6 months.

I get that, it would really sound like sneaky bitchy body shaming. + Bigger people do not always eat a lot. I have friends bigger than me who barely eat more than one meal a day. In the story however, there is no mention of the husband's body size, but of his job which is, I assume, physically demanding. But I agree she definitely should have worded it differently

Story 1: I could see this resulting in a restraining order. The MIL is viewing the baby as hers. She made that clear. The family encouraging this are just as delusional. I could go no contact with all of them

In response to story 4. I have a similar situation, where my bestie fell for someone who I was considering in the past. But she was very upfront about it and talked to me first before she started anything with him. I was really happy to hear that she found someone, and the chapter was closed with the guy anyways. So I told her to not worry about me and go get her man haha. She is now engaged to him and getting married in 2 months 🥰 also I’m the maid of honour hahah. Bottom line is I get that it might be weird if your friend dates someone you have history with, but you need to be honest if you are not comfortable, don’t lie and then regret it.

I do not understand how you can be upset that your friend who is always hosting doesn't want your partner purely because he eats too much. Like sounds like she doesn't hate him or anything. If it purely money and he eats a lot that's a simple and easy thing to fix. I would honestly be like oh my God I was afraid that you hated my partner It's just money and food girl why didn't you tell me earlier. How could you just struggle like that and not let me know. We totally going to do group food or I'll have him eat beforehand so he just snacks at the very least. Like that's a massive non-issue. I don't understand how anyone's offended or doing different sides That's an easy fix

6:40 For this story, it's funny, but I'm like the piggy husband to my other friend's events lol. She makes a bigger recipe to be able to feed everyone, but I eat more than her and so am always still hungry when I eat there. I did once suggest we do put luck rather than have her feed everyone, and she didn't really want that either. In the end, the solution was that I eat a small amount before I go, so then I'm eating only my fair share at her house. I agree that the friend with the husband who eats a lot needs to be the one to solve this problem, and I think the easiest solution is exactly what I do.

Okay so my mom has always called my children her babies but it doesn't bother me. She is not obsessive and crazy like these other mothers who literally think that their children's children are theirs.. THAT'S STRANGE!!! And I don't think that my daughter would have a problem with me calling her child my baby. We are all a very close-knit very maternal family.. but when you start getting obsessive and behaving like that that's scary.

My husband had a friend who changed her name to Aubrey (my name too) before she knew him, and they dated very briefly. The first time I ever met her, she was on a lot of pain meds and kept calling me "the other Aubrey" and that she was the first, also that she introduced him to everything that makes him cool. My husband and sister were both pissed tf off 😅 and none of us talk to her anymore since apparently she's always been super self-centered.

Story 2 I think she is the a hole. She didn’t give them the option to bring food or pitch in money. The friend just asked why and she was told her husband eats too much so he’s not invited. That’s rude af. If that’s a real friendship they should be able to sit down and talk about it and come up with solutions
