It's a great opportunity to bond for both families through wedding, the golden child daughter and son of friends as a couple, dream of every set of friends with kids. Who would care about the bullied son? He should man up and go over it. /s In most of such stories I observed that usually it's easier for people to stand up to the victim and excuse the bully instead of showing the bully their place and supporting the victim. However, in the update to me, it seems like he is trying a little too hard to make his life look amazing when in reality it isn't that amazing. I really hope he is getting counseling and learns that he doesn't have to "church up" details of his life to look better than his family when in reality him just living and surviving without a worry about them does this already.

That last story broke my heart. I know badly OP is hurting. I hope he and his sister are able to mend their relationship somewhere down the line. It sounds like they’ve both withstood neglect. With an absent father and an alcoholic mom she’s probably desperate for a parental bond. It doesn’t make it right, but if she’s also not close with her brother, it makes sense that she’d jump at the chance for a relationship with a father she’s probably been dreaming about. OP’s been left in the dust and I don’t blame him for wanting to stop supporting them. Sounds like he’s been the adult in the house for too long. Story # 1 - I'm kind of getting Jekyll and Hyde feelings here. The kid, "Z", only acted rude and abrasive towards his mom, dad and sister. Everyone else he was perfectly okay with as he had lots of friends who took him in as well as his philanthropy with the charity he founded. Jekyll with the world in general, Hyde with his family. And the poster never sees it or recognizes it. I suppose because he would have to admit he was in the wrong in how he treated his son and daughter. In all instances Z is not the asshole. The poster, and rest of the family, are major, major assholes. Story # 2 - Why is everyone surprised the poster's butch "boyfriend" would cheat on her? Why do people think homosexuals and lesbians somehow have some moral high ground that would translate to not being assholes and / or not treat others like shit? First up people accusing them of ignoring the bullying, this may be the case, but often times kid's aren't open about being bullied to their parents. We do not know enough of the situation to make a jugement. Secoundly we really had no words from how the bully acted while dating his sister. He could have stayed an asshole, he may have been remorseful and may have tryed to build briges with him. Again, we simply do not know enough of the situation to make a jugment. (Honestly I am quite dissapointed the comments asked so litte and juged so much) HOWEVER, what we can judge is, that no matter the situation, not taking your son's side is the wrong move.

Hard to be 100% on the first. How young did the bullying occur and how severe was it? Is the bully repentant? If it's like 8, mild, and a solid yes, it's been 11 years and likely time to move on. If it was high school and shoving in lockers was involved then bully can eff himself. I say this as the young nerd who DID move on.

This is disgusting, I'd always side with my children. I can't understand siding with your child's bully I'd be furious I'd tell my daughter her bully boyfriend won't be setting food in my home and I'd not approve of the relationship. The dad is a spineless fence sitter. Poor bairn hasn't got anyone to fight for him.

What is it about Reddit that loves making conflict worse. People are always assholes. They never actually give any advice to try and improve a relationship, it’s always “no contact”

OP should have told the mother (harsh but true ) I am mot your husband abdctovtge sisters I am mit your father. I have been taking care of you all since I was 15. The audacity of tge manvto bring his other family to the meal how low can you get. Look at my other family we have done so well but anyway I have cancer. My response would have been AND??

So for the dying dad with the Big, C. We the victim, do not have to forgive so they the ButtWhole can move on or die with a happy go lucky feelings.i do not understand why people think it's the one person that was treated so badly, has to be the one to forgive, what the HELL kind of nonsence is that. And just because I don't forgive, that dose not make me bitter person, it makes me a smarter person. That's just my take on that story.

I hate the gf story 2 so much and I hate the assumptions about “lipstick lesbians”. It is so disgusting that the gf actually sent those nudes! And had the audacity to say she loves her? What a POS!

the commenters and even op are odd in story 3. while I understand the distain towards dad for a andoning the family. where is the mom in all this? she went full alcoholic and is still living off her son, who became the primary organizer of the house. mom abandoned the family as well, just not phyiscially. she is just a different colour of POS. imo.
