This is not a submarine, but the Titan, is a, Cyclops-class manned submersible.
But,what's the difference between the two ?
The primary difference between a submersible, and a submarine, is that the submersible is launched from a mother vessel or home vessel.
They are typically launched on a raft or platform, which is placed into the ocean! and ultimately descends via four electric thrusters, which helps it to reach speeds of around 3 knots.
But a Submarine can dive underwater, without any external equipment, and surface all through the process of buoyancy.

1:35 the vessel is pretty small thats WHY it can go to such great depths 3:47 1 knot is 1,852 kmh or 1,15mph - so 2,3 mph are 2 knots , or 3 knots are 3,45mph 6:30 an implosion is a suddon collapse of a structure under compression, and not an explosion from inside but nice animations!

Of all your scenarios, only one (which proved true) was the catastrophic implosion. It was not the glass in front but the total failure of the carbon fiber hull. CEO knew that it was not the material to use in the submersible but used it anyways. He refused to work with submarine-subject matter experts in design, chose to use a wireless maneuvering system with no backup, and refused to get it certified before deployment as a tourist trap. It is an industry fact that carbon fiber becomes weak and brittle after multiple excursions to depth and when exposed to cold. Ask any hiker that uses carbon fiber trekking poles in the snow...prone to shatter. The Titan was a total FUBAR from the word go. It is a shame the families will get nothing since everyone on board signed a (kill me) waiver. I just hope that US/Canada will be able to recuperate funding for the rescue through liquidating OceanGate Corp.

Just a correction to note, the tail cover didn't just hold the oxygen scrubbers, it actually was a cover for part of rhe frame that held the crush proof foam squares that gave the sub the buoyancy it needed to return to the surface. I believe you can see it in dallmyds (sp?) video... There's a clip where they have the back cover off and you can see it very clearly. Rush actually mentions it as well.

By the way, can someone tell me if there are photos of the passengers together alongside with the sub vessel before the submersion? Because all I am seeing in the news and all over the place is only Oceangate Titan sub photo, and Hamish Harding photo wearing "Titanic" jacket alone. Not even a single actual photo of them entering the sub and that I presume is a red flag.

At first, when I heard they paid 250k for a trip, I imagine the submersible would have seats like a mini airplane/helicopter kinda thing. I’m very used to the imagery of a giant submarine used in military because I know the ocean is no joke. When I finally saw the news and the photos of this incident, I was so surprised. It looks like something you would pay to watch coral reef or swim along side dolphins, not to the bottom of the ocean. When the CEO describes how it works using a game controller, I actually lost it. I’m not a scientist but judging how it was made, no way this thing is safe enough to withstand the deep ocean.

Nice animations, but some fundamental errors. The front does not open as you suggest. The bulbous titanium front piece is glued to the carbon fibre hull. The window at the front is secured by bolts at the front and can only be opened by undoing said bolts. It is the only method of ingress or egress on the submersible.

Actually I take it back. I was going on other videos that had it wrong. The front does hinge open. The back is bonded on. I can't remember which source it was, but someone who had been to the sub said that the window was the way in and our and it was through bolts that needed to be undone to let people out. I can be wrong too!

I think it shattered into more than 5 pieces. What’s left are the metal components. The carbon fibre hull shattered into hundreds, maybe thousands of shards now embedded in the bottom muck.
