AIWA EXOS-9 Portable Bluetooth Speaker Review & Sound Test

In this video we will look at the Aiwa Exos 9 Portable Bluetooth Speaker. It resembles a casette deck boom box from the 80s. It currently sells for $300 USD and it is probably one of the best sounding portable speakers so far. It does have a built in rechargeable lithium ion battery rated at 15600 mAh and it will play for over 10 hours, depending on the volume level.
I will also do a comparison in sound to the Bose Soundlink Mini just so that you can hear the difference in the sound. Not trying to make the Bose look bad cause it is a great speaker and of course it is a lot smaller than the Aiwa. But if you already hear the Soundlink mini and know what it sounds like, then you have an idea what the Aiwa Exos 9 can sound like in real life.

This isn't the loudest speaker out there, but it's the best overall sound in its price range, in my opinion. Most other Bluetooth speakers produce a lot of bass and nothing else. The Aiwa produces tons of bass (for its size) AND gives you accurate mids and treble, something that most others don't. A man can't live on hip-hop and club music alone.

Since I get mine by a friend collector in Florida (in a Trade between an 80s boombox) this is the only system that I use in a daily basis inside, or even outside (in breaking battles in the streets, basketball playground and skate sessions... This sounds simply STUNING... I have some REAL grails from the 80s in my shelves... ...but this Aiwa it's 5 or 6 steps ahead... ...PERIOD!!!

Back in the day i always used \AIWA,, think the amazing sound quality always stiuck with me, aiwa mini disc player,, aiwa mini disc cd radio player, aiwa gettho blaster... all sound incredible and didnt cost as much as the rest which never sound as good... AIWA rocks

I remember seeing a big Aiwa stereo at my grandparents' neighbor's house on the Fourth of July in 1998. I was just 5 years old then. The stereo must have been fairly new because it had the 1991-2003 logo on it (that logo was revived for Aiwa's current relaunch in 2015 and is on this Exos-9) January 11, 2017 2:03 am

aiwa in the 90s made equipment with high quality audio., although the cd failed., I still have one and I use the auxialiar and it is still excellent (zm2800) I love its power and high quality sound

my first ever stereo system was an aiwa cx-naj80. it was given to me from my aunt when i was 10 and they bought it in February the year i was born. i was an ungrateful child and parallel wired it with some other aiwa bookshelf speakers i bought from the flea market and blew the amp lol. but i really do miss having it. after aiwa being bought by Sony, I thought I'd never see another aiwa system again

Bare in mind, that Subwoofer is a Dual Voice Coil. Not a single coil like many other subs. So it doesn't have its own amplifier. Each of the coils goes to the left/right channel. So in the save mode, the frequencies below 100Hz are vastly reduced in output. So it doesn't actually shut down the Subwoofer (again, it doesn't operate on its own amplifier chip), it just reduces the output of its designated frequency range, so that the midwoofers will take over.

The Aiwa Exos 9 is not only offered with 110-120 volt. You can buy it in Europe with 220-240 volt and also from their US website. Getting one in UK later this month with 220-240 volt input.

Is your battery a 4400mah 22volt? Or is it 2200mah? That 15600mah is much bigger than the standard or extended battery?

Over 1100 reviews on Amazon with a 5-star rating. I currently have the road Rider. It's nice it's loud it's solid but I'm ordering this. I work in a shop and I've seen many Bose speakers fail. Six months or lost the speakers are crackling like they're blowing out and with the SoundDocks which are widely used at my workplace they claim 8 hours battery even on 50% volume they never reach 5.

I was trying to avoid blutooth. That is why i use aux cable for music. I like being able to turn blutooth off. i also assume if this thing is on blutooth 24/7 that it takes away from the battery life as well. I do admit that aside from this it is an awesome speaker and sounds amazing.

I have owned most brands and listened to probably close to all brands.aiwa,harman carden,yamaha are 3 that I have etched into my memory as above the best in home theater stereo and other types of audio devices.Harmon carden,and alpine,with possibly Kenwood mentioned,in the car stereo category.do not buy a altec Lansing product.I loved their sound do I bought 4 of them for presents 2christmases ago.all of them broke within three weeks of the warranty running out.they all broke exactly the same way.they stopped charging.all have broken saucer connection joints from where the USB mini charge ports connect up,all four of these Bluetooth speakers were given to adults over 45yrs old and were lightly used and well cared for.,they all looked brand new.I attempted contact to altec Lansing with emails and handwritten letters to at least try to have them repair and willing to pay reasonable price (although reluctantly ),just because I felt bad that it was my gift.along with hating to destroy the earth and add 4more lithium ion batteries and electronic waste and plastic to the landfill.it just gives me internal stress to throw out something that is new and would work fine and they sound great just because of altec wanting them to fail just as they are out of warrenty and people will buy another or to save 1or2 cents on solder when making the charge port connections..,they never replied to any thing I have sent them ,,,not even A REPLY .,.,I SPENT AROUND SIC OR SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS ON THIS CRAP AND THAT DIDT EVEN BUY A REPLY,THEY KNOW THAT THIS IS HAPPENING BECAUSE OF OTHER CUSTOMERS,AND CONTINUE TO PRODUCE AND SEND OUT FOR SALE THE SSME PRODUCT WITH A DEFECT THAT THEY COULD REMEDY WITH CLOSE TO NO COST EXTRA.BUT THEY CHOOSE TO NOT...I HAVE TALKED TO7 OR 8 OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM WITH THE SAME EXACT CHARGE PORT DEFECT.AND THEY WENT BAD AT CLOSE TO THE SAME TIME....ALL JUST AFTER THE WARRANTY PERIOD.....SO THATS ALL WENT BAD WITHIN2 MONTHS OF EACH OTHER.ALL OUT OF WARRANTY.SOME EVEN BOUGHT A NEW ONE JUST LIKE IT THINKING IT WAS A FLUKE,IF ANYONE ELSE HAS THIS OR HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING TO ANYONE..LET ME KNOW.....SAMSUNG HAS A VERY BAD CHARGE PORT SOLDER POINT ISSUE WITH THEIR PHONES,AND NEVER EVER BUY A SAMSUNG REFRIDGERATOR....

I almost felt pain for the Subwoofer when the EQ had the lows set to maximum at max volume. It should be close to start distortion (the driver or the amp).

I believe that a blueray aiwa device should be produced that reads several formats, WAV, MP3, MP4 whit usb, microsd, etc. with the shape and dimensions that can replace the carrousel of cds of the aiwa old sound systems so our beloved equipment is re-powered, and also one master control by the blueray and the sound system , I believe that they would be safe sales.

Aiwa exos 9 is more of a part speaker youll use at partys or as a regular radio in basic while the bose is more meant for picnics or small gatherings

+MrZman0004 The TDK is definitely a good buy for $300. The others you mentioned are great also but a bit pricier and not really portable.
