Mainoo at the very least makes up for it with technical ability and a good footballing IQ for his age. Granted, I’d have him as a squad player with someone physically better in his position, but that’s more than what can be said for the likes of Garnacho and Fernandes. Mainoo and Ugarte playing together is tyrannical. None of them can do medium to long passes well. Bruno also loses the ball too easily in the number 10. If he were just to switch Mainoo and Bruno’s places, the team would play much better since Mainoo is a much better dribbler than passer while Bruno is a much better long range passer

I think you should do a video that focuses entirely on set pieces. Maybe with a compare and contrast with what the best teams are doing to defend them. I've yet to see anyone break down what we are doing to be historically bad at depending set pieces and it would be interesting. Is it tactical or is it just we lose our duels everywhere on the pitch and set pieces are where that shows the most?

I remember when Amorim was appointed wondering how the skills of every player fit within his system, but I never thought about whether the players' physical attributes might be an issue. Now, it seems clear they are. That realization made me think back to the first couple of Premier League games under Ten Hag, where he tried something like this and found out the squad just couldn't do it at Premier League intensity. He immediately dropped it for a more practical system. Once again, I remember thinking at the time that it was a skill fit issue (for example, De Gea not being a good ball playing keeper), and that was true, but I'm now sure the lack of physicality also contributed.

It's never been all the managers/coaches' fault, it's the players all along. I've been saying this for years. Majority of our players lack intelligence, creativity, courage, hard work, fighting spirit and responsibility. Most of these players want to play with other players who are willing to do the dirty/hard work while they take all the glory. That's why they thrive at international level but horrible at the club level. Start from scratch with a young team and sell all the senior players except for Mazraoui.

The problem is that the last manager replaced 3/4 of the squad so it was entirely his fault. Whereas Amorim hasn't had a single transfer yet so it isn't his fault. Not sure why Mazraoui gets special mention, honestly. He was good for a couple of games but he has been shocking for 4 games now.

The reason why Bayern sold him is because of his injury records. It's a miracle that he stays almost injury-free with the number of games that he is playing right now and the fact that he is playing mostly as a WB which requires him to move up and down A LOT. He was supposed to be rotated with Dalot but because of the LWB situation, he can't be dropped and rested properly. Without Mazraoui, United probably in the relegation zone right now. He only had 3-4 bad games this season, even then he was still one of the best players on the pitch for United.

Why is Antony used as a RWB/RW as opposed to LWB/LW? Am I missing something? I understand the whole concept of inverted winger/fullback etc. but right now we clearly would benefit from a left footed LWB who can drive with the ball and fire in crosses into the box. It's so frustrating seeing Dalot continuously get the ball and do fuck all while also seeing Antony on the right cutting in. Am I completely missing something here/is there a tactical reason why?

Antony should be played at LWB, he is energetic, some skill on the ball and a lefty too. Amorim himself wants to improve Antony. Dalot offers zero contribution presently, always cutting inside and negates every United attack down that flank. If that flank is not worked on asap, the struggles will persist.

Cunha had a ripper of a game! Showed us up for how poor we really are... even if he's half that influential most if the time, he's better than 99% of our squad. 😅 If INEOS are still talking about being ruthless, and we have no budget coz of FFP, then selling to buy is a MUST. Dalot gets us a wing back like Frimpong. Malacia gets us Dorgu...if we're lucky. Bruno gets us Cunha. Mainoo gets us Edison. Garnacho gets us another midfielder, or funds a portion of the other signings. Shaw and Mount let's us half our medical staff and equipment. And Rashford gets us less drama and half a striker. Some of these can potentially be done in January. Most other outgoings won't make much with contract amortization. And I'd push for some out of contract sighnings like Davies in the summer.

There are so many issues with the team at the moment, and a lot of it with ETH and Manager FC after the FA Cup, with Ashworth putting his job on the line for ETH, both now gone. In terms of non-set pieces goals, we don't actually look that bad defensively, not perfect, but not bad, before Wolves in the last 5 games we has a goals concede xG of less than 1 (4.6), and a goals scored xG of 11x, actual was 8 -12. However, you don't score those chances you're going to get punished, and then there are the set pieces. I also think it's not just about Dalot not taking people on, it's the complete look of confusion in the players. Hojlund, Amad and Bruno are continually making off the ball runs, which is a big part of the system, yet never receive the ball, we go side-wards and backwards. You see the frustration in Hojlund every game, mostly with Amad. Then look at the Spurs game, Bruno continually getting in behind, but due to lack of pace was caught more often than not, and when he did get 2 or 3 crosses in, only Hojlund in the back and about 2-3 yards too late. Bruno is quite often making these off the ball runs to pull players out of position or exploiting space, but never receiving the ball from Malacia, who you can see goes to turn inside to pass, remembers he's meant to pass to the off the ball running and then gives the ball away. I assume that's the reasons he's been pulled twice at half-time. So what happens, Bruno gets frustrated and reverts back to being the 'roaming' attacking mid and messes up the formation. He should be telling players and vocalising instead of whining and sulking, he's the captain, but who else do you give it to and no-one starts every game outside of Onana. They've been so ingrained to sideways pass they don't look to go forward or look for the runs. Then you add in we have no one that can cross, or who instinctively crosses, all the forwards want to cut inside and shoot. It's going to be a long road. I'm not defending him, but I can see why Rashford has had a drop in form in the last 18 months, he's had no Left Back to overlap and pull away defenders, often 2/3vs1 in most situations. Sure, Garnacho has 'coped', but most of his bright moments have been when going against teams a lot more open, or when coming off the bench and going at already tired players.

Amorim has been too brutal towards Casemiro & others cos we missed him against Bournemouth& Wolves. The objective is to persue a top 4 place, not playing him from the start, when he has been needed could have prevented some of the goals & losses we have endured. The objective is to keep the players onside so we can get through the season & progress towards next season's champions league, any unsettling is down to Amorim, so he has to be careful!

Ruben should understand that his 3-4-3 will not work with the current squad. I feel ETH also should have felt the same when he came to man utd. He ditched his plan after first 2 losses and played to the players strength and he had a decent run till a cup win in feb. Once the injuries and casemiro red card popped up he lost it. I remember several times ETh has quoted this team can’t play with the same way his ajax team played. Now I feel pity for ETH with this sort of players he couldn’t do anything. Also at this juncture I vl have to really appreciate OGS manager ability. He played to his team’s strength and gave us some memorable matches. It was only after Ronaldo came he sulked. Not to blame Ronaldo though but it was a misfit from day one. Coming back to Ruben, I just hope he realises his game of play will not work with Man Utd players. He will have to thin out of box, like use Martinez in DM role, push Bruno to no 6 as passer role and move Mainoo r erikson to no 10 role. Use dalot only as an attacker and not any other role. Small changes like this may help the team provide stability and win few matches. We don’t need top 4 but we don’t want to get relegated.

To me, Bruno was rash, but Onana was absolutely underperforming by allowing the second goal direct from a corner. Nice video again AJ! I agree that these crop of players lack the physicality that’s needed for Amorim to be successful. Yes, we were slightly better at the first half but we didn’t make any major threats to Wolves. Mainoo shouldn’t have started that game. He lacks physicality and speed in a game that requires it. The current players were signed for ETH style of play. A lot of technical players with little physicality. Only a few would fit into Amorim style. They also need to learn to defend as a team. The foul on Onana for the first goal shouldn’t have been if other players come to his rescue.

We have a midtable squad(profiles) who don't sult this system and are good enough for United in general so the results aren't suprising but Almorin should keep it up so that when he bring in new players the survives know his system and help teach the new ones. Also i have been seeing a lot of Rasmus hate on X, yes i don't think he is good enough as he is to be United's main striker and we need a main number 9 but i honestly think with a better team around him and time to develop he will be world class. Many players who were good or even great showed talent but they may not have been on the level of R9. Even at United, we had some wonderful young strikers but look at the ages of most of our greats. Kane, Gykories, and Oshimen are players we have been linked to in the last 2 years, none of which could have been our main man at 21, but with time look at them. Also, on the relegation teams part, we play like, and we don't suit him as a striker, I would argue that a team that plays better football and feeds their striker is a better fit for him.

Imo we played good football just didn't convert the many chances, now we're stuck with a coach that only has one trick (his infamous 3-4-3) and thus lacks the tactical flexibility to play in a way that suits the team he inherited. Kobbie needs to leave this team if they are gonna screw his development. We have seen last year he neither have the athlecism nor the physicality to play week in week out in the PL yet. And the yet is doing all the heavy lifting. He is unbelievably smart for his age, but he needs space to grow. His best position is eventually gonna be in the middle, but for now he needs to play higher up to lessen physical demands. If not he should be looking to leave: he has great talent, I wanna see him grow up to be a great player, not another Rashford or Greenwood. Sadly Garna is following their route. If there is a market for him, united should look to off load him. He, and some other academy products might be the sacrifice we have to make to get united in line with FFP and can spend on squad development.

Our teams just keeps finding ways to lose football games. Guys this team is soft look at how many people actually win their duels except amad and ugarte we terrible at 50/50. Lisandro Martinez only wins around 40 percent of hes headers he has to go and bruno has to go and hoilund hes hold up play is so in consistent kobbie mainoo i dont see what united fan base sees in him. And amorim massroui cant play wingback stop playing him as a wingback he does not have the athleticism and 1v1 ability to play that role

It's a tough one Tweaking the system may give us greater short term success But it does mean that when we get to the summer we will be back to square 1 with the players not used to the system Personally I would stick to the current shape, pick slightly different personnel, and try to encourage greater rotations on the pitch

That's why we are going for an attacking LWB in the Jan Window. Dalot and Mazaroui are fullbacks by trade, so they prioritise saving/defending the ball. Antony/Amad at RWB works because they are attacking-minded and quite good defensively. We don't have that on the LWB, which is why we use Dalot. Amorim himself has said that Dalot is better on the right, but (personally), Dalot just needs rest. He's played the most minutes in the last year, over Bruno and Onana.

We are going to take several more losses this season as we're needing to 'fire-fight' a few things - like set-pieces. We may need/wish to trial younger, inexperienced players. And if we need to use 2 slower players in central areas (Maguire/Evans + Erickson/Casemiro), we're likely to struggle to compete off the ball as well as we'd like. I'm prepared to see quite a few more losses and a mid-table finish again this year. I'm hoping it doesn't knock player confidence too much; particularly for our emerging players. That said, those that thrive will be the players with strong attitude. I feel like as fans, we need to support and drive the players who are showing the drive and smartness that will carry us into and through the next 2 or 3 years.

We want to be harder to beat & control games better but Amorim has to stop the excuses, poor team selection & use the squad to his disposal by picking a team to win by a 3.4.3. - this is why we're missing a 'Pogba' type midfielders e.g. Barella, Ederson etc... can protect the ball better cos Bruno is the wrong type of player that can vary the pace of the game so we've prepare to replace Bruno with Mainoo next cos he lacks discipline & is a liability so a detrement to the team. If Pogba available bring him back to replace Bruno ASAP! Keep it in the family!
