Segregated streets. Settler violence. Military harassment. This happens all over the occupied West Bank, but perhaps nowhere are these scenes more concentrated than in the Old City of Hebron. The once vibrant Palestinian cultural center is now ground zero of Israeli apartheid. It’s also where AJ+‘s Dena Takruri’s family calls home.
In this deeply personal documentary, Dena spends a day in Hebron retracing the footsteps of her father, who was born and raised in Hebron. She talks to Palestinians who are subjected to daily harassment from the Israeli military and settlers. And she is guided through the city by former Israeli soldiers, who tell her why their conscience is now forcing them to speak out against the occupation.

As a South African born under an apartheid system, I understand the dehumanization effects of apartheid and its segregation laws, especially when all your rights are stripped away from you and the oppressors see nothing wrong with treating you like a sub-human. When we say Israel is an apartheid state, we know exactly what we are talking about. An apartheid state is formed with human rights violation at its core, it does not deserve any support, in fact, it deserves a world condemnation.

There is no time limit in the definition of colonialism therefor the British will always be considered colonialists in Australia. The origin of Arab culture is in the Arabian Peninsula The source of the Arabic language is in the Arabian Peninsula The source of the religion of Islam in the Arabian Peninsula. On the other hand, the Jews' cultural and genetic origin and the language of the Jews were all created in Levant (Palestine). They did not come from outside, but were created in Levant (Palestine). The Hebrew language is the only Canaanite language that survived. The Jews lived in the land continuously before the Arabs before Islam and Christianity. Jews are considered indigenous by definition because the origin of the Hebrew language, The culture and religion of the Jews originated in the Levant. True, Jews have been a minority among Muslims and Christians most of the years but the fact that they are a minority does not negate their seniority they are the oldest residents. And the fact that the Arabs are a majority does not make them natives they will always be colonialists like the British in Australia. The palestinian try to change the defenition of colonialism so that because it happened long ago in the seventh century they became natives. There is no time limit to colonialism and they are not considered natives under the definition.!

I only got round to watching this today. This is one of the most powerful docs I've ever seen, it made me shed tears. I've gathered that despite their suffering, the Palestinians have way more honour and dignity than the colonisers. That 13 year old girl has more strength than all those colonisers put together!

In 1948 after Israel declared independence (end of british rule), Jordan army crossed the Jordan river into Judea & Samaria (known as the west bank by MSM) and east Jerusalem. The Jordan army killed or drove away the Jewish people. The Jordan army then destroyed Jewish property or took it over. Jordan then encouraged Jordanian settlement in the occupied land. Jewish property not destroyed became occupied by Jordanians. After the Israeli victory in 1967 and Jordnian disillusionment with their expansion effort (1988), Jordan revoked the Jordanian citizenship of "palestinians" in Judea & Samaria (known as the west bank by MSM) and east Jerusalem. For the most part "palestinians" are leftover Jordanian colonist (Gaza residents more closely tied to Egypt). The homeland of the majority of "palestinians" is Jordan.

There’s over 1.5mil Palestinians living inside Israel, how many Israelis are living & working in Gaza? Christian here. I'm with the innocent, every day citizens of Palestine. I could not fathom having to tolerate people throwing trash down on my home and family. Also, they would have to shoot me if they thought they were going to take my 13 year old daughter. No way! I admit my wrongs here and now. As a Christian in America, without even thinking, I sympathized with Israel. That is because, as a Christian in America (especially the southeast US), support of Israel is expected, compulsory. That is not a flaw in Christianity. It is a flaw of some of the erroneous beliefs people in the hierarchy of Christian churches and among laypeople. Recently, I have been studying about Islam and the Arabic language for my own personal enrichment and because I do want to better understand the cultures of the Islamic nations. As I have closely followed news from the war, I really came to question the treatment handed down to Palestinian civilians who are only trying to live their lives, support their families and have hopes and dreams like every other human in this world. It's not even a religious matter. It is a matter of innocent every day people who are being horribly treated and expected to tolerate it. Therefore, hence forth, as a Christian, I support the innocent citizens of Palestine and pray for them. May God bless them and keep them, gove them strength and grant them peace. As-salaam alaikum!

As a Filipino always watching Western Media being shown here in the Philippines, the Palestinians or Muslim Arabs were always portrayed in a negative way as a violent nation akin to uncivilized barbarians. But since the Hamas incident, I looked thoroughly into the Israeli / Palestinian issue as I am a history buff anyway. After a lot of research, dating back to the 6th century BC up to the 1900s to the present, I must say I am so disappointed with the Israelis/Jews and appalled by their treatment of the Palestinians. It's sickening to see a nation who themselves were nearly wiped out by the Nazis, do the same acts of cruelty to another group, just to grab their land. I feel so sad for the Palestinians. One of the best documentaries I've ever. I'm an 80-year-old American who until recently didn't pay much attention to the problems in Israel between Palestinians and Jews. The past couple of months I've gotten up to speed by watching videos like this one. I am definitely sympathetic with the Palestinians. I am disappointed that many of my friends seem to ignore the abuse inflicted upon Palestinians by the Israeli occupiers. Some seem to endorse apartheid and believe the Palestinians should just leave. Be warned this is a very skewed view of Hebron, please look up the Hebron Protocol to see how most of this city is governed by the PLO. The PLO agreed with Israel to partition the city and only a few streets have severe restrictions for reasons of security. Just look on Google maps and see the PLO area is perfectly normal with shops, cafe's, hotels etc. This video shows nothing of the normal life because it is simply propaganda for Westerners who can't be bothered doing their own research.

Great Video, I spent a year in Jerusalem working at the U.S. Embassy. Most of my friends are Palestinians from Bethlehem. Salt of the earth. I have shopped in East Jerusalem and have never been treated unfairly by Palestinians. I have seen the discrimination first hand and it pains me. There is no room for humiliating someone, no excuse.

Keep on doing your research. There are many many more outlets and tonnes of information all pointing in the direction you can see here. Be open minded and understanding of both sides (the civilians) and the things they have been brought up to believe about each other and try to be as objective as you can while looking for the clear truth because there are many many people who refuse to see and are also angry and hostile with it. I am glad to have seen this. What a difference it makes when someone does actual, boots on the ground journalism, and not parotting a narrative. As an American veteran, I can't imagine subjecting people to mistreatment and summarily arresting a 12 year old girl because someone said something. That, to me, is criminal. And an elderly woman escaping her own home from the roof to get outside? Israel has some inward looking to do, and they have clearly helped fuel and precipitate the rampant hatred palestinians have for them. This type of conduct and treatment is unacceptable. Thank you for making this very emotional video. I'm European, lived in the US for half my life and have no connection to neither Israel or Palestine but have several Israeli friends in the UK and US and only hear their narrative of the story. So, I'm glad to learn about this part of the conflict and how some Palestinians feel about this everyday harassment of their lives.

I cried when he told his daughter in front of those soldiers "Don't be scared, never be scared. I want my daughter to be strong." It's such an injustice that children so young are humiliated like this and grow up with these types of memories in their earliest years. Palestinians are some of the toughest people I know.

They attack Jews, and then use children as human shields and hide behind them without mercy to their children, as if they were not their own children, to tell public opinion that Jews are deliberately killing them. This is what I saw with my own eyes in the 70s, when they attacked the Jordanian army, which sheltered and protected them. Instead of thanking her (the Jordanian army), they put the children in front of the Jordanian army in order to make the world believe that the army is killing their children. It is their habit and custom, their cruelty, their hearts of stone to their children, and they lie to public opinion in order to get its support."

What a powerful documentary. Thank you for giving this American a more informed perspective on what the Israeli government is doing to Palestinians. This is so horrible and with the current Holocaust happening in Gaza by the Israeli government. I can't imagine these people are following the God of their ancestors.
