I haven't been able to get my cover back on for the last 3 weeks. Watched this video and did the push down and forward with both thumbs and it immediately went in. Thank you!

For real? I mean, you Americans clean considerably more complicated mechanics than the AK. Kalashnikov is intended to be the easiest possible rifle to maintain in the field, without any tools. Take an advice from an ex-commie countryman. The Kalashnikov rifle, along with most (if not all) Soviet-Russian guns, likes a lot of oil. You can bravely put how much you wish there, it won't be detrimental to the function at all and you will guarantee it will run good for long. Another thing about the receiver cover. In time you will find the proper motion to put it easily. You need to put it firm ahead in its groove, then push it down while holding it forward. In Bulgarian military, and probably in any other Warsaw Pact nation, you simply push the cover into the frontal groove, then smack it with your palm. While this method is a bit too much for me to do on my own rifle, it is the genuine way anyone around here who's old enough to have been drafted in the military places that cover.

I am absolutely saving this video to my playlist. Somebody I know I'm not going to say on this platform owns that exact variant of the AK. And I told him I would learn how to field strip and clean it and then we would do it together so that he would know how to do it as well. And this is probably the most straightforward and right to the point video. And I thank you a million! #2A

Two important steps covered here.....pushing the back of the bolt inward before sliding the carrier group back into the receiver.......and pressing down and forward at the same time putting the receiver cover back on. I have cussed and raised hell so many times trying to figure that out. But those steps do indeed make the process a lot easier.

I struggled as well with replacing the receiver cover. Although your method did not necessarily help me it led me to figure out the workings of the mechanical locking mechanism so I am able to consistently put it back together now. Thanks so much.
