Opening the project in the MPC BEATS daw is priceless. Totally gives new life to this machine... and then from there you can make stems for Ableton live... I'm amazed. Thanks for sharing!

While it does make things a bit better, the one issue I had with the importing of the project into the MPC software is that the sixteen levels / note slider data didn't transfer over properly. So while its not perfect, it still allows you the ability to open your project and build off of it which is way better than just recording the audio imo. Thanks for watching!

Arif VirKill I own the Live 2 and if I feel like noodling with the 500 and improving on that, when I turn back to my Live 2 the bangers that I churn out end up really amazing. The 500 definitely helps improve your creativity.

Firts of all thanks so much i was just thinking why nobody makes some video exactly explaning this info? thanks so so much !! & One of the things i just realize when you try to open some project from MPC500 into MPCS sometimes it change midi info from the place suppose to , and the reason its because the ideal way its :be sure to check the "KEY NOTE" you are using in your MPC500 soft for example MPC 500 send C#,C1,D ......... BUT, MPC SOFTWAE has another toltally different order just advice for those who wants to work their projects in SOFT .

Great videos and very helpful, but just so you know large can cards will work in the 500 but it will only see a max of 2gb.

The slow transfer rate is a machine limitation. Not the Cards.

I'm staring at almost the exact same pile of various size cards and CF converters and bullshit on my desk right now LOL! Looks identical you'd laugh seeing this shit no doubt 🤣 So yeah, this video was SUPER helpful and saved me a shit ton of time trying to see which combinations were actually going to work, so I definitely appreciate it man!!! @@sftraxx yo dog, this may not apply to the 500, because I also have a 1000, so I may be crossing my lines here. But, I knew there was a reason I bought this tiny micro SD 128GB bastard..and a different adapter, and it's because of this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/naHZh6Rpr96ql7s If you get a chance sometime, that is what I was planning on trying on my MPC1000. And it's the master JJ himself putting on the clinic there, so you know it's possible if nothing else. Anyways, it's quite likely I'm getting my units confused here, but either way if you know someone with a 1K or you have one yourself, it could be nice to get to use one of those micro SD's (because of the size, speed, etc.). I ordered the adapter too, off Ebay I believe. You need 2 adapters for his setup to work. The one he links to is gone if I remember correctly, but it's all from Asia so an identical one can be found quite easily. Give it a look if you get some time, or perhaps a review? @masmusic5101 Loading speed on these depends on the sample / program size. On average, most of my programs load in 10 secs or less.

Can the compact flash card adapter that is SD does it take 256gb or higher?

Hi.. good video.. just one question, can you format an sd with an mpc then put that sd in a pc and drag drop wav to it then put it back in a mpc n off you go? Just becouse my mpc doesnt seem to want to conect to a pc through its usb port. Thanks

Hello Steve. I have a question for you! Does the size of the wav. file matter when saving samples from the computer to the MPC500? I've tried chopping up sampling in a software program called Audacity. Then I would save them in a folder on a Compact Flash Card with 4 gigabytes. But whenever I try loading up those files into the MPC. The wont all load. I find that strange. Was it something I did wrong? I even tried compressing the files and changing the bit rate and then loading up into the MPC500 but all that did was take away the sound quality and make the samples play at a faster abnormal rate!!!! I thinking there must be better useful way to resolve this issue!!!

@@sftraxx I think it may be just that!! I've even upgraded my ram from 16 mb to 128 mb. Then I went from a 4 gigabyte to a 16 gigabyte Compact Flash Card. I was able to Load a few more wav files but not much! I still kind a ran into the same issue!! I imagine 16gb card would work much better than a 8gb or a 4 gb. Would you suggest a 32gb or a 64gb Steve?

If you go under specs in the manual it says “Memory Card Slot: Compact Flash (The size of the compact flash card that MPC500 can handle is from 32MB to 2GB)”.

I bought that exact adapter with the exact SD cards in this video (tried every SD card I had) and it would not work on my MPC 500 running 1.31 . Just sharing before anyone else takes the plunge.

Just updating, I tried the adapter with some older SD cards and I got those to work. No success with the newer class 10 cards.

Steve SF Traxx do you have the upgrade ram on your mpc 500 does that effect how these memory cards work storage wise in memory does the machine need more ram to access more files on the cards

Just a heads up to everyone because I see a lot of comments. This is from the manual under specs: “The size of the compact flash card that MPC500 can handle is from 32MB to 2GB)”. I don’t think that using an adapter for a modern SD with larger capacity will help. 2GB is all it will read.

The manual is outdated. The MPC 500 is able to see the folders on most 'modern' (properly formatted) sd cards. That said, since its an older machine, the load times can be slower so I would keep it down to a 64 or 128gb sd card max. Thanks for watching!

I just snagged an mpc5000 , works just fine but I cannot load any of the samples from the cf card. It ended up being a microSD 128gb slotted into two adapters. Is the memory card corrupted ?

When I would load the samples, it would load but the program wouldn’t show up. Or I would get an “invalid format”screen

Cmon - seriously: If you have an older computer you may not have an SD card slot. How old? Like 30 years???
