Man, I have a key 61 it does take a lot of space up on my desk. I only paid 800 for it used. I’m highly considering trading it for 37 just to save space. the one thing that keeps me from doing that is the drop in ram…. my concern is support for future updates. I’m really believe the extra ram will come in handy whenever Akai comes with a major major update.

I sold my live 2 for a my key 61 and have regretted every single day. Welp I finally sold my machine plus and found a barely used live two retro for only 650…. I will never sell my live 2 again unless it’s for greatly improved live 3 😂

The live 2 with an external midi key board is so much better imo so not surprised you returned the 61. They should create the keys as not an mpc. The pads are small and not ergonomic to use as the keys get in the way. No pads and making a new product that supports vsts would make it a product worth getting in its own rights. Also don't make it red. The classic colour would really look nice and would for those in the know be a nod to it's ties with akai

@@jamesbinitie7249no I still have my key 61. However, I regretted letting my live 2 go to get the key 61. Therefore I recently sold my Maschine plus because i found a guy letting his live two retro go for $700 but i negotiated him down to $650. Which is close to what i could quickly get for the Maschine + (sad I paid $1400 for that). IMO the pads on the key 61 and 37 are fine for those products. Taking pads off of an MPC means it’s not an MPC… it would be an Akai Key but not MPC which would then put them in comp with other workstations that their not ready to compete with in terms of quality of sounds. Keep the MPC factor caters to Akai’s current customers which is what a corporation wants for (ROI). Kinda like how Roland dabbles in samplers with the SP but doesn’t go full throttle to compete with Akai (yet) they stick with their bread and butter (bad example @ave?)

West Coast sh*t! The MPC One didn't work out for me. The Force ALMOST worked out. Ableton + Push 2 ended up being the sweet spot for me personally. But it is nice to get away from the studio room and just mess with a synth and get song ideas started... In comes the Key 37. To me it's a synth first, sequencer second, which solved the problem for me. Now I do wish I could see a video of key players using the MPC Key 37 and building a track ONLY with synths, keys, and drums. It's not that I'm against that, but that's not a feature unique to the Key 37. I'd make a video, but I can't afford it yet and I'm not a famous youtuber haha.
