To be honest dude, I am happy to pay for my equipment. I would not even accept a machine from Akai if they offered it to me. I feel that it would compromise my channel's neutrality and integrity. As always, thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.

I respect channels like this and the kind of content you present and the way you present it. Most these other “producer” channels have no actual production skill, especially older peers from previous generations here in America, and when they do their podcasts, they can care less to take the time and actually teach something that us creatives can actually use and build upon. To give something from the heart with zero expectation is the highest form of humanitarianism one can offer. So I just wanted to say thank you for sharing and for being a genuine person and an actual real teacher and producer. The universe always rewards those who live abundantly. Keep doing what you’re doing brother. 🙏🏽

Yes there’s always more than one way to do things. And it’s good to experiment. I’m not into the people who say their method is the right way, the only way. That’s not art.

I’d need to brush up on it mate. The last time I sampled Amen Brother was probably in the late 80s for a Hip Hop track I did with an MC called Swift Tee at around 95bpm.

When I bought my MPC X last year one of the first things I picked up on was that MPC 60 effect. I noticed especially on drums that it just fattened things up in a way that sounded really good to my ears. It’s one of my go to effects in the X. Never had a real 60 so I don’t know if it sounds the same or not. Don’t even care lol.

Again this is such a great collection of videos. what do you do if you have each of your drums on individual tracks as oppose to a single program? Does the chain work the same even if all the drum sounds aren't in a single bus? Or is there a way of routing all the tracks to a single bus? or maybe you just apply the effects to the program effects slots as oppose to the tracks insert? sorry for the waffle. thanks again.
@TheCratesMotel
@TheCratesMotel 10 ай бұрын
That’s a great question and funnily enough I am doing a video on it this week. You can route to a sub mix and apply the chain there. The video should be up on Friday. Obviously if the drums are in the same program you can apply the chain to the program inserts.

Thank you! I have seen tutorials where the kick is separated from the drum bus . is there a benefit to leaving the kick drum in the drum bus?
@TheCratesMotel
@TheCratesMotel 4 ай бұрын
When I mix, I have the drums set up as Kick, low perc (all the snare, toms, claps) hi perc ( all the hats, cymbals, rides) and percussion (congas. bongos, shakers etc). All of those then go to my main drum buss. I usually keep the kick separated because it is often the root of the whole track so I want the ability to control it completely with EQ, compression etc. So, whilst there is no right or wrong, I prefer to keep the kick separate.

Can you guide me on how to use/upload the FX Chain Preset I downloaded from GDrive to the standalone MPC?
@TheCratesMotel
@TheCratesMotel 5 ай бұрын
If you create a folder on your SD card and drop the preset in there. Then when you want to add any FX Presets you press on inserts. At the top of the page there are three options. Choose the middle one. This is Load. Find your presets folder and load that preset. Done. I find it better to make your own folder specifically for your own presets and always save and load from that folder. It keeps things organised. I hope that helps.

7:51 can side chain with the mother ducker???
@TheCratesMotel
@TheCratesMotel 11 ай бұрын
Yes you can (I have made a video about it), but not in the way I am explaining in this scenario. Compressors have sidechains where you can reduce the amount of low end that affects the compression. Mother Ducker is not that sort of side chain. It is a sidechain effect, but not the internal compressor sidechain I am referring to. You can however use multiband compression to compress certain frequency ranges. I have also made a video about that. However, it is not using sidechaining or Mother Ducker. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

Off topic but need help. Does anyone know why the timing changes for Arpeggios after recording inputs using note repeat? What setting am I missing because I’ve tried nearly everything.
@TheCratesMotel
@TheCratesMotel Жыл бұрын
What are your settings for note repeat? This will affect the arpeggio timing.
@dickrichard99
@dickrichard99 Жыл бұрын
@@TheCratesMotel This is happening on any setting whether default or custom. The pad inputs during recording using ARP sound exactly how it’s suppose to but when I go to play it back after I’m done recording it’s jumbled. The only way I can get around this is to go into grid view and record bar by bar instead of 2-4 bars at once. I don’t think it’s a setting within note repeat/arpeggio it’s gotta be something else.
@TheCratesMotel
@TheCratesMotel Жыл бұрын
@@dickrichard99 Yeh that’s odd. I’m not one of those people who will guess a solution to make it sound like I know what I’m talking about and to be honest I’ve never used arpeggios in the MPC so I’m sorry I can’t be more help. Hopefully somebody will see this and know a solution. Feel free to swing by the Akai MPC Tutorials group I admin and post the question. There are some good guys in the group.
