Very, very VERY good video. Thanks so much Conan. For the channel subscribers wish list: More of these beat making tutorial videos and more focused on extending those 4 bars to a 2 or 3 mins song. But... just wish list :) All your videos are superb! Thanks again!

Where did you get the samples from? both the kick and the hats sound better than most well known samples out there
@TheCratesMotelКүн бұрын
They are from my original TR909. I recorded them onto 1 inch tape in the late 90s and then digitised them in the early 2000s, but only as 16bit 44.1khz wavs. I guess there is a tiny bit of tape compression on there and the sound of our SSL desk. It all adds up to the final sound.

Hey mate. I have actually made a video on submixes. 3.0 is a bit different to 2.15 but sending tracks (or programs) to sub mixes is the same pretty much. Select the Output on the channel and scroll to Submixes.

@@TheCratesMotel nice one, thanks for doing the deeper side of house style, the tone is exactly what I’ve been searching for. I listen to and admire a lot of Joe Claussell’s work and I’m fascinated how he gets that tone in his drums and how thick the percussion sounds. Any tips on thickening percussion samples into a realistic groove?

@@SunlightOfTheSpirit I love Joe and the Ibadan stuff. He uses mostly live percussion in his stuff. I can’t really explain in a sentence how to mix it, but it is doable in the MPC.

I don’t use the 909 much I’m more of an 808 guy myself, I like that sound. But it’s good to know how to make the 909 sound good. That’s a real jewel you gave about people thinking a sound isn’t any good when they don’t take into consideration that it needs to be mixed and shaped properly. Big time jewel right there! Oh and I like this lens better than the previous one you’ve been using. It seems too pale or something but this one looks really good. My eyes are getting bad too though 😂

a last question I wanted to drop the last time too. How do you get to work your OBS ? Wich output source do you use? As far as I know OBS just works with Direct Sound not with the Audio Interface. That would be really nice to see how you set your OBS Audio.
@TheCratesMotel8 күн бұрын
I use a PC so I have ASIO drivers. I can then just pick my interface as the source when I add an ASIO sound source in OBS. It’s quite a new function in OBS as they didn’t support ASIO for years but now they do. It helps if your interface has Loopback which most do now. If you’re on a Mac it’s way easier. So in my OBS I have an audio input for my MPC and my mic and then a direct desktop input in case I’m playing any audio from my computer. I use an Audient Evo 16 as my interface, and a Neumann MT48 for my mic as the converters are amazing.
