If more & more people from non white countries migrate to the US or any other western countries, then wouldn't it cause a problem for the white population in matters relating to demographic changes? Or white supremacists? Or the rise of far right? As you know many people from 3rd world countries who are non white & non European goes to west not only for studies but also to obtain PR & Citizenship, so will that cause the decline of white citizens due to mass non white immigration and interracial marriages? But in gulf countries, they don't give citizenship, so because of this, Arabs will not become a minority by citizenship.

@@meharoofryanmarakkar4515 Hi bro, to obtain US citizenship it's very difficult. You can come here for studies and to work. As per my understanding it would take 20 plus years to get citizenship (correct me if I'm wrong). So in the USA they have their strong rules and regulations not like Canada. Also people like me would always want to migrate back to India. So I'm not gonna wait for 20 years 😁. In the USA they have a mixed population. And Till now I have only faced racism from the black people all the white people are good towards us. Your question has a valid point, and White people have this concern. But I don't know what the government is going to do with this concern.

I lived in USA from 1974 to 2016. I brought all relatives to USA. Now I have moved back to Kerala since 2016, almost 8 years in Kerala. I love it here. With suffient money which I have, life is a lot better in Kerala. Roads are much improved. Internet and payment system is super. Food supplies, medical care, school system are much better here.

No regular night life other than religious festivals. Most malayalees don't have much night life in USA eighter.

@@myhighworld8675I don't think as you say night life is very common in all over USA. It's only found in the big cities. And the places I lived in the USA sleep around 8-9pm. Nobody will be outside or on the streets after 9pm. Most of the shops closed around 7pm. Only big shops like Walmart or target Safeway wholefoods open till 11pm. But new york city is a different place altogether. New York City is a city in New York state

Since retiring in Kerala was far away in terms of time, I ended up taking a 3 year sabbatical before COVID. It was the best experience ever. I ate about 16 jackfruits during that time. Ate all of my favorite Kerala dishes. After coming back to the US, I decided to just work less and live a simple life. Most of my friends work 6-7 days a week, have big homes but don’t even get a chance to sit on their sofa. I grew up in the US but always loved Kerala and its food, culture, language, etc. The main reason many get stuck here is because of the kids and grandkids. Don’t let excuses stop your dreams. I still have plans to spend more time over there in Kerala.

@@MoonMoon-000 eventually that’s the plan.. but I rather spend time over there on the go while I’m still young .. many worked all their lives outside to retire in Kerala but never happened; they end up getting sick or dying before their plan. Many others get “stuck” with kids and grandkids. No guarantees in life. So enjoy today.

@@MoonMoon-000 it would be way cheaper to live there after retiring. I can live like a king. Dollar stretches pretty good there. And I’m used to the life in Kerala so it will be perfect for me. It won’t be the same case with others.

The lady spoke the truth, every time we visit Kerala, we have to make sure that we carry water where we go. This is after my kids ended up with stomach flu.

@@jspillai1869 No one's denying the food safety aspect. Carrying water bottles is encouraged in EU & USA & all over the world now. Food poisoning can occur anywhere in the world. Been down with food poisoning twice in France & once in the USA. Generalising such instances to paint Kerala or any place negatively is not a good practice. Food safety has improved in Kerala but still needs a lot of work. Public safety on the other hand is much better compared to many places around the world.

Hi, I am out of Kerala science 1964 Aug. I am in USA since 1974, and almost 8 years I spend at North Africa. My children are born in USA and they are high achievers . And very highly placed and prohibited inter acting with other nations politics. And still my children goes to Kerala and enjoy company of relatives. And still my kids contribute to the welfare of the locals or neighbors The problem is Kerala administration is rowdy. It has to change for the Benifits of people. .

Interesting to know that Dr. Sriram Nene and his wife Madhuri Dixit along with their kids moved back to Mumbai in 2011. Dr. Nene is the son of Indian immigrants who had left India in 1962. Not easy as you think. Family of 4 going to India means $10k for flight tickets alone. Not everybody has a high paying job. Kids in the Middle East have move connections with other malayalees. In the west, it’s hard. So kids end up being westernized easily and would have a hard time even with vacations in india. I grew up in the US and I’m a rare exception. I even lived in Kerala recently for 3 years. Most of my friends that I grew up with here in the US don’t even speak one sentence in Malayalam (I’m not saying that they need to). Many married outside of our community and moved on as well.

I came to the US in 1975, worked here and now retired. I also brought here three of my younger brothers who are now happily settled here. My parents have been gone, but I do have four sisters and a brother who live there and whose families are happily settled in Kerala. My brothers and I go to Kerala frequently from here and together we gather with all of my siblings making our visit memorable each time we go and wanting to do it again and again. Although I’m in my late 70s, I still drive and do a lot of things including shopping, cooking, cleaning and other things that I used to do in my younger years. Now that I also have several grandchildren, I look forward to seeing the, cooking for them (yes, they love Indian food) and spending time with them. I and my brothers came here because of the hardship we faced in India during the 70s and 80s. I am looking forward to spending the rest of my life in the country that gave us so much and still giving me the opportunity to live my life to the fullest.

What I don’t understand is why should where you want to retire be dependent on where your kids are ? It should be an independent decision. We left our parents in India to migrate here. Similar they may move to some place they like. Our retirement should depend on our convenience, not on where our children are

That's absolutely true. I waantee Christina to ask that question. And also.. all of them moved to the USA when they grew up leaving the parents behind. And they would have had cultural shock as well. If their own kids go to kerala for good after they grew up they will have the same for some time and they may also adjust. But quality of life is always better in the USA.

Paramedics / Ambulance varunna time depends on where you live, rural America yil timelines will be longer. Quality of care is different but how do we quantify thus? Perception by a few is not the best evidence.

Quality of care is better in the US than in Kerala because in Kerala, if you want to get treated in the hospital, you need to deposit the money first, then the treatment. Here in the US, if you do not have money, you can make a monthly payment to pay the hospital amount, and some hospitals have charity funds too, so if you do not have any money, you can apply for charity to pay off the balance (it is not in every hospital )

The love of Kerala for me is the beautiful scenic nature and the nice food! Being two generations away from Kerala, there are no ties. Just a visitor!!! Once you leave Kerala thru the generations you have left your homeland! Welcome to being a world citizen!!!!

Loved the authentic conversation and valid potints. Well coordinated and it was engaging to watch. I liked Vinodh'achayan (I think I got the name right), saying, "Even though we go to see the parents, the excitement is to see our friends, and when those relations not stronger is when your frequency of trrip reduces. I agree to the majority as the primary factor is a consideration to our kids, as their culture and friends are only in US and even many of our friends are in US. On the Medical aspects, once, people (Keralites) experience a better or premium experience, that comfort of safety net is difficult to break! Great initiative Sunil mashe.. 👏 Now, for our friends, Jayan and Jeena, we need to ask the question otherway around, how can you stop you from leaving us and make you stay 😄 Vijay finally managed to end with, why we even needed this whole discussion, world is open to all and enjoy the freedom of anywhere you prefer, completely agree to the thought, future will be at Mars! with no complains ;)

ഞാൻ 50 വർഷമായി Americaൽ താമസിക്കുന്നു.എന്റെ നാടിന് ഞാൻ വളരെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. എന്നാലും തിരിച്ചുപോകില്ല. ഒരു സംരംഭം തുടങ്ങാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചാൽ ഒരു Supportഉം ഗവർന്മന്റെ ചെയ്യില്ല. ഒരു office ൽ ചെന്നാൽ എല്ലാർക്കും കൈക്കൂലി എന്നാലും 10-20 പ്രാവിശ്യം നടത്താതെ ഒന്നും സാധിച്ചുകിട്ടില്ല. Govt employeeട don't serve people but they control by their Power.hospitalലേക്കു എത്താൻ ഒത്തിരി സമയം എടുക്കുന്നു.Hospital care നല്ലതല്ല. lCU ൽ കേറ്റിയാൽ പിന്നെ ആർക്കും Visiting അനുവദിക്കാത്തത് ഇതൊക്കെ കൊണ്ട് വരാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കാത്തത്‌.

There is no place like Kerala. There is no shortage of anything. The houses are so beautiful. Flowe gardens are unmatched. Festivals have no comparison.Transportation system is good. The whole state is a city.

What’s the infrastructure the state has ? Just talk about the roads , is there any walk way ? Even if it’s there cars and trucks will be parked . There’s trash everywhere. Talk about the hospital, Government hospitals are pathetic . Only if u have money you can live here . The attitude of people , they don mind whatever be the rules , even if there’s traffic rule , who abodes by the law ? If you know some politician then there’s no penalty or any case registered . Yes it’ was beautiful before . Now it’s just buildings and concrete road .is there any rule for construction of the road or buildings . They build just as how they like and whenever needed they will dig and make pits and never make it a point to cover the pit !!! These are just a few . If we talk about the list , it’s innumerable. Thanks to the govt led by Hon Pinarayi , he has done all facility for his family ( who is settled outside ) and once they are here , he and his ministers has place to park , clean environment etc!!!!! Let me ask a question.... Suppose, if you have almost the same income as in USA, will one come back? All went to USA because at that time, it was a bit tough in kerala... But now things are different in kerala.... Driving issues in kerala is a bit tough.. One can set up a house in kerala if one has say, 2 crores indian money... say like 250,000 in dollar terms.... The one who went to USA got the basic education or even the post graduate education in India... The quality of life..... If one has sufficient money, one can have a better quality of life in kerala.... Ofcourse, the hartal, bandh culture in kerala should not be encouraged... If this bandh culture can be changed, kerala is incompareably better than america....This is a political problem..... Most of the political parties in kerala, especially the leftist parties, are getting bribes from many other countries... to disrupt life in kerala..... mainly to attract kerala's educated youth.....So many of the present US settled people compare the time they left India....say.... almost 20 or more years ago....But things improved a lot in kerala ... If one has a good house in kerala, and have an income of say, 150,000 indian rupees per month, the life in kerala is far better than in america....Still I agree that driving in kerala and indian roads is still a challenge... Well,.... regarding the children of american malayalees... Americans are least bothered about their childern .... But american malayalees are more botherd about their childern..... Do you have absolute control of your children in USA? The answer is a very strong no. So this outlook is just a myth.... All these malayalees left kerala mainly for money.... So if the salary structure in kerala is uplifted to atleast to after tax levels in usa, things will definitely better..... One person mentioned about reaching a hospital need 3 to 4 hours.... This condition may have been there about 50 years ago... Definitely not now.... Medical facilities now in kerala is in less than one hour.... And the level of medical standards are on par or even better than in usa.... I am not talking about medical care in government hospitals.... Ofcourse, private hospitals in kerala are a bit expensive.... But compare that expense with cost of medical care in usa..... Another person mentioned about safety in kerala.... The usa is a land of guns and violence..... Kerala is incomparably safer than usa.... To be very frank, most of american malayalees simply don't have the money to travel to India very frequently..... But no american malayalee will agree..... simply because of ego problems...... Getting 70,000 us dollars in usa in a year is roughly like getting about Rs 500,000 in india.... in practical terms..... Almost all american malayalees forget the fact that they all got their education in india.... and that helped then to reach usa.... So, the "better"education to their children in usa is another myth....

I used to work at Bangalore and chennai. It was clearly a foriegn place for me and i never felt "at home". Home is kerala, based on language, food, relatives, friends and culture. Most important is the memories you carry from your early life. Today i work overseas. The point is, if you are not at home (home in the midst of everything i said above), then pretty much the same wherever you are. Personally, i can reach home in 5 to 10hours and thats very much comparable with travelling from any place in india. Might as well live at a place with the best lifestyle thats within reach for you and go home "often". Be "involved" instead of "connected". Bring kids and participate in relatives lifes through their life events and functions, marriage, birth, death etc. Phyisically try to be there. This means you need to male enough money to make that financially painfree. Most of the next gen in kerala are all likely to migrate or atleast travel outside and very tech savy. If you manage to grow good relationships between your kids and the next gen living in kerala or elsewhere, the kids will have a root and he to relate back to even if it is not a physical place... May be for global citizens of future, home might be more spreadout geographically as a virtual network. Meaningful and active participation in mutual lives is the important thing to build.

So I have worked in American Education departments for over 5 years and I can tell the education system in India specially in Kerala is far more superior than USA. It’s just you are not realizing it. Looking at Indian Doctors, IT professionals, Nurses, Engineers they are all educated in India and why not America is not able to produce high scale professional there ? Which is why Indians like me and you are here in America. Most of said Education is better here. I wish you good luck with that 😄🫡

അത് പലപ്പോഴും തോന്നിയിട്ടുള്ളത് ഇവിടെ എല്ലാം systematic ആണ്. കൊടി കെട്ടി പ്രതിഷേധിച്ച സമയം കഴിഞ്ഞു. എല്ലാവരും tax അടക്കുന്നു. തൊഴിലാളികൾക്ക് മിനിമം വേതനം കൊടുക്കുന്നു. It all depends individual choice…I left Kerala at the age of 18…definitely quality of life is unmatched with US to Kerala….we cannot change it overnight…be it there …I am in Florida from 2004..beautiful place under the sun,still I am longing to be back in Kerala,where your heart is there your home is…every year I used to go…Indian diaspora constitute scientists,doctors,Engineers they can do a lot to their motherland..

This is not a complex situation at all. The saying in Rome be a Roman is what is apt. If you don’t like the lifestyle in USA leave. Many children are totally lost with attitude if I need to bring up my kid as a “country” in another country. To an extent it’s good but parents go beyond to break these kids. They have to behave one way in school and another at home. The funny thing is the parents seem to either not see this difficulty or ignore it. This is the main reason Britain is no more a Britishers country rather nomadic. Countries including India should not allow immigration to the extent of losing its own foundations.

America is a melting pot of different cultures and many of the immigrant groups have succeeded in preserving a certain amount of their culture in their homes while integrating into the mainstream American culture. This is basically the case of India where you have different communities holding onto their own traditions and cultures in their homes while having a predominant mainstream culture. It's more difficult to preserve your culture in European countries because they are more homogeneous.

Very good discussion. Main reason for disliing is the corruptions in our country. In case of an emergency, you get better service in US. In our country, you may not get transportation. If you get it, you have to bargain with the driver. Once you are on the way, you have to face hartal or striking political parties. Above that corrupt police gundas who want to extract money from you. All similar factors cause the US malayalees to live there. No wonder

US nri return to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Tamil Nadu etc. Kerala is difficult because society needs to be more welcoming to nri. Love to visit Kerala to go to temples, beautiful nature and historical sites, but professionals may have difficulty! Lot of Indians are moving back w children but not to Kerala!

Well, if you want to see that social welfare in your country, you all should start somewhere without waiting for others to start. After all, it is about people fixing the world and setting a better standard for the public without any differentiation of socioeconomic background. No policymaker can make a difference unless the public understands and recognises it. Wherever nationalist and religious ideals are put at their peak, there is a decline begins. The final result would be a corrupted administration😢an ugly truth. A state government functions(with all its flaws) only when the Constitutional values are respected and implemented above the religious values. That's the reason why the majority of Asian countries are still crawling into poverty. So, be the change you want to see in the world. In the end, freedom of expression, and gender equality aren't bad goals to achieve in a country because the religious values squeeze freedom and gender equality, and thus socioeconomic reforms and progress.

Well, Asian countries's administrative system encourages migration of its citizens out of the country. If you look at what Mr Modi was demanding from the ex-British Prime Minister Theresa May, the GB must take Indian expertise to Great Britain at any cost. If you look at the Western countries' culture, they detest sending their citizens abroad because they clearly know that would result the failure of government administrative policies. As long as both Indian central and state governments cannot recognise this socioeconomic and cultural plague people will continue to opt for migration within and outside the country. The same fate has also other Asian countries where religious values are above Constitutional values. It is inevitable. We are caught up in this cultural dilemma.

Health system is *ucked up in US. Kerala is on a another league. Yes , Kerala has drawbacks, but a lot of stuff is better in todays India.

I am out of Kerala since 1970. (Born in 1951). Not very far but I'm in Chennai. MY children all born and brought up in Tamilnadu We find it difficult to adjust with life in Kerala. Then how can you please blame people from usa
