Let's grill up some Akaushi Beef Ribeye! Akaushi is Japanese Red Cattle and it is very healthy beef. I liken it to Kobe beef or Wagyu. Click "Show More" for details.
I purchased the Ribeye from HeartBrand Beef:

That is one mighty fine looking piece of steak. Melt in your mouth tender, and grilled to perfection. It's always good to support your local farmers and ranchers.

Looking good T-Roy! Last week I cooked up a USDA PRIME T-Bone 1.8lbs I ordered from Snake River Farms. They were having a sale on them like 30% off so it was about $55 shipped. All I gotta say is wowza lord have mercy was it good!! I started with pan searing about 2 minuets a side in cast iron skillet with some olive oil and garlic butter. Then finished in oven at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Best dang steak I have had!! Maybe give them a try sometime. God bless from Minnesota!

Hey Adam, I have heard about the meat from SRF and it does look like some fine meat. The thing I don't like about them is that they freeze the meat for shipping. That's why I prefer Lobel's. They never freeze the meat and I have eaten so much steak that I can tell the difference if it was frozen. It's pretty darn close, but there is a slight difference. I just prefer fresh meat.
@dslpwr
@dslpwr 7 жыл бұрын
T-ROY COOKS that is a good point about the freezing. In fact when I buy meat at the store, chicken, beef or whatever I alway buy fresh. I will have to give Lobel's a try next.

Wow, lucky you finding that local ranch! Nice steak, too. As you seasoned it I just wanted to take a bite out of it raw! Nothing wrong with flame ups......sear that meat baby. BTW, I really like your audio when you are in your kitchen/dining room. Just a touch of echo.....your voice resonates like you all have 50 foot ceilings~very cool! Yes, that was a gorgeous hunk o' rib eye. Rock on!

You are right Mike, the pepper, herbs, and other spices can burn on a very hot grill. Salt is the only thing that will not burn. But, if you cook the steak quickly like I did, you can get away with putting the other spices & herbs on the steak before you grill. Either way works, but if the spices burn or if the herbs burn, it can make the steak taste a little bitter.

Hey Troy, man that was a mighty fine looking steak! Hey I got a question for your Thursday chats. (or this venue is perfectly fine as well) Have you or do you ever marinade your steaks? I will use some Dale's steak marinade from time to time or use some steak seasonings like Montreal Steak Seasoning. I was just curious if you recomend marinating and what you prefer. thanks and cheers to you

I cook my briskets, and other large cuts of meat at 225 because I want higher yield. More juice less shrinkage. Shrinkage is a bad thing. No pun intended. More servings is more to sell. Higher heat will also break down connective tissues but over the last 38 years I have found that 225 is my sweet spot. Your Thursday episodes are great also. Good choice on responding to viewers questions.

T Roy was it worth the 50 bucks or do you like you're normal rib eye for the price.
@TROYCOOKS
@TROYCOOKS 7 жыл бұрын
It was worth the $50 I paid. I do wish they had thicker cut steaks though. I like mine at least 1 3/4 inch thick, so this one was pretty thin compared to what I usually buy. Also, it was not dry aged. Would I buy it again, yes!!! Thanks for watching!

how does this compared to an aged ribeye from somewhere like Lobel's?
@TROYCOOKS
@TROYCOOKS 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Kenneth, it is similar to Lobel's Wagyu, but isn't quite as marbled. Also, they freeze the steak for shipping and Lobel's never freezes their meat. I actually prefer unfrozen beef. But, I will say this steak was some mighty fine eating!
