Ok I'm no audio professional, only a performing classical musician .... I picked up a pair of AKG K371 to replace my Audio Technica M40x. Granted, I haven't listened to the Concertgebouw Orkest with Mahler's 3rd with Bayerdynamic DT 770 Pro, but ... I find nothing lacking in the soundstage of the concert hall in which the orchestra played in Budapest a couple of months ago. They use the standard european division of violins of firsts left and seconds right and you can very easily hear the part division L/R when they're playing with each other. You can distinctly hear te placement of the trombones/Tuba vs trumpets in the back rows. The fingertip playing of the bass drum was wonderful as were the explosions on the same instrument a few miutes later. All-in-all, a wonderful performance by the orchestra and the headphones. Such a shame, no one, literally no one reviews headphones with socalled "classical" (actually late romantic) music in orchestral setting. Obviosly someone at AKG dsoes listen to orchestral music.

To anyone considering buying the AKG 371 (BT), I can honestly say they are well worth their price tag! Did a lot of research and considerations including this well-presented review before choosing to go for the 371 and was not dissappointed! Yes, the only thing I found was I have to adjust them each time I put them on so they set perfectly on my ears, but you can easily hear when they are settled right for you on your ears, so no big problem at all. Also, I find them very comfortable wearing for a long time and don't find them too tight on my rather big (sweaty head). Great sound, too, but I do not not have that much to compare with in that matter. I am extremely satisfied with the sound quality.

I'm interested to know how other glasses wearers have got on with the K371s. With glasses on the low end is just missing (unless corrected with EQ) whereas without glasses the low end is absolutely brilliant extending way down and rounding out the sound pretty wonderfully. I assume that the problem is that the arms of the glasses mess with the seal between headphone and head and that this is absolutely critical to the performance of these cans (because they're closed back?). Has anyone else found this to be the case? Had anyone found a remedy, other than taking your glasses off? Different East pads maybe? Suggestions please because I'm not sure I'll be keeping these if I can't fix this despite their "glasses off" sound being very much the best I've experienced (at this price and my limited experience). Just yesterday I noticed that left hand pivot/slider has become very noticeably slack. They'll be going back to the supplier a.s.a.p. but I'm still undecided whether to seek a like for like replacement or look for an alternative. On balance I'm probably going to look again at a Sennheiser. Whilst the 371s are a pleasure to listen to I can't be doing with the constant worry that they'll fail mechanically. Thanks wheezy for all the visa on this topic, just a shame these headphones have some fundamental design flaws.

My pair have held up for almost a year and a half. The QC issue is such a massive drawback for what are a genuinely great pair of headphones that punch well above their weight class at the price point they're at. Its borderline absurd how great the sound quality is given the price. If it wasn't for the build/QC issues I unironically believe they would become more standard than the DT 770 and the m50x/m70x.

Mine has a pad whose inner ring is not glued on well and leaves it a tad loose, however I haven't noticed differences in sound between sides even when swapping the pads. Other than that they've been pretty solid, though admittedly with 12 other headphones I don't use them a lot. I'm scared about taking them outdoors though, not sure if it's because I'm scared of them being damaged or because I'm afraid of going through the same odyssey you did to get a good pair if mine are damaged... Edit: so I ended up getting a new pair and sending the old one back, these are fine, pads are the same, folding mechanism is a bit stiffer and sound is largely the same, though they have a bit less subbass, which is better imo because on the old ones it felt a bit too disjointed from the rest of the frequencies at times.

I just got these last week. Can someone tell me if I'm nuts, cause my pair sound great overall, but way too flat for my tastes. The bass is weak imo, and I know that's at least partly because I do like a lot of bass. My previous pair were a rather cheap pair of EKG E900 Pro gaming headphones which were the most bass-heavy headphones I've ever had. It was a bit more than they could handle, but I did enjoy it more often than not especially when listening to hip hop/rap. I've tried oratory1990's EqualizerAPO/Peace preset, and it's a lil better but not really. He mentions that the third band/105hz is where I can adjust for bass and increasing it from 5.5 to 8.2 helps but it's still...idk, eh? This bothers me the most because I've seen several people talk about how bass heavy they can be and I'm just not seeing that. Any ideas?

do they klick and fall down when handling or shaking the headphones? My left hinge did that. I removed the inner rubber pad. The screw under there was quite loose. I tightened it carefully twice (you have to check the resistance of the klicks. don't overdo it). For me it helped but I'm not shure if it's the same problem with yours and how long it lasts.

@@kantenschneider Dude, how did you manage to open the inner rubber pad and which rubber pad? I'm confused. My unit is perfectly fine, sounds great, and no cosmetic issues but the left hinge became a bit lose, hence the left adjuster is also loose and improper. Please guide me so that I can tighten the screw. I can remove that rubber pad permanently too.

@Arya Sengupta Look at the outer symbol with the 3 heart shaped objects that meet in the middle. On the opposite side (on the inside) there is a smaller round rubber cap with no symbol that is surrounded by a grey ring. Insert a thin tool (or fingernail) right between the black round rubber piece and the gray ring that surrounds it and pry out the rubber. It will take a bit of trial and error to find the right tightness of the screw. Good luck!

Great video. Love these headphones. The only issue I have with my pair is that the height adjustment seems to be loose and it sometimes adjusts a notch down by itself while on my head. Has anyone else experienced this?
@kantenschneider4 жыл бұрын
I bought an amazon return unit (discounted) that had this issue from day one. A few months later I finally had the courage to try to repair it. I lifted the inner rubber pad and was relieved to find a Philips screw under there. Tightened it a bit, checked the hinge and tightened it a tiny bit more until I was happy with the resistance. It works fine now. It's good to know that I could tighten it every day if I had to :-) hasn't become loose again yet

I think long term most of us will have to get under that rubber cover and tighten the screw eventually. The only reason I didn't do that with the originals were because they were brand new. Is that pad glued on or does it clip into place?

Could you recommend an over ear headphone for use with mainly android phone with occasional use with a Yamaha stereo amp ? Im about to return a pair of Philips SHP 9600 and want a closed back replacement. Im disappointed with the sound. My short list is K361/371 , DT770 Pro (32 ohm? ) . Also maybe Sennheiser HD569. For that use K361/371 are ideal, great sound and portable. I'd avoid the Sennheiser, those closed backs don't sound as good as a Sennheiser should. DT770 is your comfort and durability pick if that's more important to you.

For example in gamer ifa explosion would happen or in bass heavy musicm will i feel a puchy bass with these headphones or not. I got a near launch unit around December 2019, and the slide adjust wouldn't click anymore, and just last month, it got too loose to work reliably, essentially with one side being a very janky slide adjust. I did a warranty replacement, and I got a brand new in box unit with extra accessories. Keep in mind, I received this last week- time will tell if this is a second production run that won't have any issues. I'm excited to not have to worry about slide adjust mechanisms. As the top commenter said, using my HD580 feels much more rugged, I would never do this, but I feel like I could drop it down the stairs no problem. Either way, I think the 580 and the K371 have a more confidence inspiring build than my Aurorus Audio Borealis headband.

@WheezyTech4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback, I have been experimenting with adding music for the past few videos, its a bit of a balancing act getting the right music and volume level. I cut down the old intro as I felt it was a bit too long, basically I removed the music and play the video at 60fps so its smoother and quicker. I think it helps the start of the video flow a bit better being quicker, I think its about half as long as it used to be.

I wish I could see this review before I buy. I got this unit and Im using it since 1 year. I mostly agree to this review. I was a little bit fan of AKG series. I used their K240 and K702 series for while. Both was ok K702 was impressed me about sound signature but It was very unpleasent in hot climates, my ears were really sweating and its was a little bit heavy. Not comfort as much as K240 series. I bought this one for to use in different conditions, because of versatilty promise. But hell as the guy mentioned this unit is very low in quality. It was too obvious pads was gonna start to peel very fastly. And Its started to peel in three months time. I cant say Im so attracted by the sound. Other AKGs was better. Also my ears starting to suffer with this unit in one hour. Maybe because of the pads your ears touching the inside surface or something and its hurting. Also one of my main reason by this unit is to use in live situations because Im djing sometimes. But oops isolation is really bad. You cant hear anything with this in a noisy enviroement. So in my case versatility also failing. This thing far below my expectations. I was thinking to pay some more and buy and Beyerdynamic when I choose this thing. Later I get a chance to use A BD in a studio. Maan that thing is reall deal. Far far away from this. You re almost like watching the stereo image. A real reference. I should say I just used maybe 30 minutes or something and I was feeling like Im listening a high graded speakers. I regret very much cause of buying this. Probably my last AKG product. I didn use too much models from AKG but maybe only K240s are ok because of the price. That one really soft and light.

This or DT770?
@skurd7213 жыл бұрын
For studio use, the DT 770's are still pretty decent. Good detail, comfort, and build. But for casual music listening, I prefer the K361 for its less piercing treble and less bloated bass compared to the 80 ohm DT 770. The only problem with the K361, for me, are the pads and how they make the sound inconsistent every time you put the headphones on. The Beyers are a little better in that regard, especially if you wear glasses. Overall, they both sound good, so it mostly depends on what you'll use them for. For studio/at-home use (if you can stand the treble), the DT 770's; for casual/on-the-go use, the K361's.

I just returned my pair after just one day. The sound felt, to my ears, too mid forward and lacking in bass. I realize that is NOT what others have found so I'm thinking the ear pads do not mix with glasses wearers very well. The sound was much better if I pushed the ear cups onto my head but that's unworkable. I was curious about these because of their "Harman Target" sound, but given this experience, I'll stick to my Beyerdynamic DT770Pro as my closed backs.

WTH mate, 4 faulty device from this kind of brand. There are many less-known alternatives for this class headphones and they're almost half priced. I only choosing these brands for quality-control and usage lifetime. But they cant even deal with this. If I was in Europe or USA I would buy alternatives. Sadly In my country most unknown brands are not exported. I dont believe AKG's sound signature something that much valuable. I used AKG702 more than 2 years. I wouldnt say that I impressed much when it comes to budget. Maybe that level flatness is too important for high-level industry production. But I dont think most viewers in here are not inside that level of production line. Now I'll probably buy a K361 for just design and portability.

I don't understand these companies. They ask pretty penny but produce these type of garbage and expect customers to accept and then just move on? Fucking ridiculous! Beyerdynamic has very good build quality but it still has some weak points (the plastic parts which hold the ear cups break over time), the clamp never goes away and any company which makes round shaped ear cups/ ear pads is plain dumb. I have not experience more pain than I did with the 770s. But still compared to this AKG, it seems infinitely better in terms of durability. Sennheiser is the only company I have observed not making any round shaped earcups, maybe they have more common sense than these other lots, who knows. Wish there was a good closed back Senn. People who look for durability should always stay away from products which have many hinges, rotating/swivelling earcup design, foldable and all that jazz. Just make plain basic headphones which work ffs. Not everyone cares for portability, those who do that's their problem and they will choose what suits them. For us, who value our money, please stop making garbage like this, AKG. And also Beyer, start making headphones with oval earcups, or at least oval earpads.
