I bought a pair of these quite recently. I do have to say, they really did address the QC issues after the fact. The pair I got recently are bullet proof. The yolk adjustment is super stiff and the pivot is smooth with a reassuring amount of resistance. The drivers are fantastic too. I wish I could measure mine as the high end wasn't nearly as peaky as I thought they would be. I like 'em. I must've lucked out.

Agreed on the upper bass, it's pulled back just about right. It won't muddy up the midrange, and still provides very nice bass texture/timbre. The upper treble is definitely pulled back though. If only they built these to even a mid level standard in materials and design. The drivers are great though.

nice review, probably the best I've found on youtube, congratulations. I've just listened to a brand new K371 and I agree about any single word. I don't agree with other reliable testers claiming an alleged superiority of the k361 upon the 371. the 371 sounds a bit better, has a larger soundstage, less fatiguing, and so on.
@WheezyTech5 жыл бұрын
Thanks
@davidepollak35 жыл бұрын
after an appropriate time using the K371 I must say I can't get in make me like the K371 sound. there is some coloring like an emphasis in the frequency region between 1-2k that makes the listening fatiguing, a bit "nasal", especially at slightly higher sound pressure level. again: "slightly", so not really high spl which I do not usually use. compared to my new Audio-Techinca MSR7B (pay attention to B, it's important) the k371 has a bit more extended lows under 60 hz but a more confused mid bass. mid and mid highs are immensely clearer and detailed on the ATH, which, on the other hand, is a 220€ headphone. I've recently bought a Fidelio X2HR on Amazon USA (a friend of mine brought it to me in Italy, no fees payed) at 119$ and I have to say I like the fidelio more than the K371, although the Fidelio has some forgivable flaws when it comes to the low's presence (a little excessive in some few cases). anyway, I cannoi say I don't appreciate the K371 'cause I do, at least in a lot listening conditions. let say that when I'm getting ready to listen music on the K371 I'm not really excited about.
@WheezyTech5 жыл бұрын
@@davidepollak3 That's interesting I don't notice any issue between 1-2k myself. But I think you hit it on the head in terms of price. I think at sub 150 these are fantastic but they aren't high-end cans. I haven't personally heard the MSR7B myself but I've heard good things about them, it's on my list of headphones to try. The other thing to consider is that the K371 are aimed at creators as more of a monitor than a casual headphone and I think they are pretty good for that task. I would reach for almost any of my open-backed cans before the K371 for listening to music. However, I do find amongst my collection of budget to mid-fi closed backs the K371 is one of, if not the best. Also RE the X2HR I have a review coming up, I'm not much of a fan myself. They could be a fun v-shaped headphone, and they do have a few moments of brilliance but that is spoiled by a rather peaky and grainy treble for me. For that reason, I'm not sure why they get so hyped over the HD599.

@@WheezyTech I agree about the K371 price. I do not intend to return it to amazon, I like it in a way that's not "passionate"...that'all. Got these after three weeks (I asked you about this or DT 770 80ohm on another video comment section). I really love the sound, it has nice midrange, not to bright, bass is also there where it should be. But sadly it's uncomfortable for me, don't know what it is, but after 10-20 minutes or so I get this pressure feeling in my brain and a mild headache. I've put the headphones over the box it came in for two nights, so the clamping force got less strong. But it's just something odd when I put them on, that makes me feel this pressure. Maybe it's the ears touching the drivers inside? The cups aren't cramped like on the m50x (where I had issues with comfort), but maybe it isn't enough for my ears. I had them on for an hour and a half, but couldn't forget the feeling that it's something bothering me, it's like having an itch. After I took them off, the issues went away immediately. I'm also not really positive about longterm build quality, on one side the headband adjuster is more loose then on the other side, similar with your 1st issue, but not that obvious (at least for now). The pads are really odd too, there's some slight crackling when you take them out of the box and move the cup around when clamped on the head. It feels like you need to adjust the cup to be actually in the middle of the pad, so that it doesn't sit on the side of the pad. They're also sensitive to positioning on the head, it changes the sound (what Oluv said in his review). I've ordered Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro+ now (139€ on amazon.de, not much more expensive vs 118€ for K371), because of the detachable/shorter cable and 16ohm resistance (want to drive them from anywhere without amp). It'll also show if I really need larger cups for my ears, so those might be more comfortable and I might get DT770 velour pads later on. I'll keep the AKG371 until I get the Beyers for comparison, but after that I'll probably return them. I don't think it makes sense enduring a headphone that isn't 100% comfortable, probably like enduring a too small shoe just because you like how it looks. It's a pity that the 371 didn't get that extra professional manufacturing touch that it did in the tuning and the drivers.

@wheezeyreviews In your opinion, is this is the best everyday, portable, closed back headphone that can run from a phone in terms of sound quality? For instance, cans like 1000 xm3s and qc35 ii cost more bc they do more/have more tech, but do any of them sound better too?
@WheezyTech5 жыл бұрын
Good question, I think they would make excellent wired portable headphones, build issues notwithstanding. They have basically dethroned the M50x as a portable monitor. I have the 1000XM3 and as a portable fun headphone they are great. Theres a lot to like about them, so comfortable, so portable and excellent noise cancelling. They dont have the best sound sig, it is quite enjoyable, but they are quite boosted and rather bloated and muddy in the bass. I can forgive that in a noise cancelling headphone. However for £140 the K371 would likely make an excellent wired portable option and they sound better.

How does it compare to Sony MDRZX310?
@michaelcraig77663 жыл бұрын
I've got both of these. The AKGs have a much wider frequency range and brilliant instrument seperation in comparison to the Sonys. The Sonys have a much darker basier sound making them more pleasurable to listen to... but loses alot (and I mean ALOT) of clarity. Both of these are really handy reference points for mixing as you can do the full master on the AKGs and figure out what, if anything, gets lost in a live/club/at home eq setting.
