Al Green is very shy, on the stage, his altar ego comes out. Listening to him talk about his child hood, not having a lot of friends, that he stayed to himself. Sounds much like he's an Introvert. I think he has a beautiful soul. Al, can sang to me any day of the week. Word!!💜❤

Only one human being sings like that. Can't imitate him. Even when I try to sing along, I have problems, cause he has so many twists and turns, bending of notes so sweet. He takes us to so many spiritual places in our minds.

When I was a child all I knew was that something about his music touched me in a special way. Now that I am an older adult I am revisiting his music, understanding why he moves me in a deeper way. Thanks for this post.

Was you even old enough? I was born in 55 and I was at the right age for Al Green's peak from 1971-1974.

I love me some Al Green! I just wonder did he forget how old he was lol! He was born in april of 1946 and this was in 1973, which would have made him 27yrs old. But he stated he was 25 when asked how old he was!

@oifnolykous - The footage is from WNET, but as far as I know the episode was just called "Let's Stay Together". I think it was planned for DVD release at one point, but was sadly withdrawn. Possibly that had another name? Thanks for watching!

I think the actual show was called SOUL. It aired on WNET in the early 70's.

There's bootleg videos and DVDs of the entire concert floating about--i bought one in NYC about ten years ago from a merchant who had a stall in a flea market on 4th and Broadway--in the net age I'd bet its readily obtainable with a little due diligence...

Oh Al oh Al, how did so much come from a man in this era? Just like Teddy Pendergrass, these two were some real singers singing to the people especially the women. Only the true artists can really break through to the audience the way they did.

We as so called blacks have been the Beauty to this country called America.. this reminds me that when the Children of yisreal. Got off the ship, those are our True ancestors. But the captivies who bound them and enslaved. Told them to sing a song. And They said, how can I sing in a strange land. You see our captives truly knows our History, and this is why so called blacks in America today would never appease their captors. We have a Bloodline from whence came. And the bloodline is through Abraham, Issac, And Jacob. But as generation's has transpired in time we forgot our God, and served theirs. The enemy still have power over The Most High s people. But it's time to take a stand. If The Most High is your Aloheim. Then serve him or forget be e a slave be to bondage.

Aw, he's so shy and soft-spoken, just how I like my men, lol. I wonder though why he said he was 25? I think this interview took place in 1973, so he would have been 27, unless it was the early part of the year then he would have still been 26.
