Heaven = Cruising in a 75' Cadillac, listening to AL Green on a long country road, during a summer afternoon eating an ice cream cone at slow speed while heading to a family cookout at grandma's house which is down a dusty path with tall cedar trees giving you a windy salute as they gently rock back and forth. I was with my parents, driving to the Daytona 500. We were making our way through georgia-in an ice storm-and my mother was driving. At no more than 5 years old (my brother with me in the back seat, no seat belts of course was 4), i remember my dad trying to advise my mother on her driving, which essentially led to a very minor fender bender with a guardrail. My father, being a stock car race driver from Indiana, did not fare well in his tete-a- tete with my mother, of course. As they bickered I listened to Al Green as I cuddled with my blanket and my brother in the backseat. The week he passed away , I was in a rental car with my mom and my brother, whom I rarely saw after HS, and Al Green’s Let’s stay Together comes on, from beginning to end. To this day it’s my way of knowing my father is visiting me, whenever I hear this song. Thank you God❤️

Your Grandma has an exquisite taste in music. Al Greene was one of the most beautiful singers of his time. Music seeps into our souls as well as our hearts and memories. That’s why we remember them so often, despite the years and our health. When we listen to songs, we often listen without words being spoken by us or to us. But we feel our emotions very strongly during the time we spend listening to them. So when they are played again, years later, we remember the connection we had with them in our memories, heart and soul. What a beautiful lady this lady is now, and clearly was when she was younger. I wish her and all her family a wonderful Christmas, with many more to come. With love and many blessings. Teresa. (UK). xx

I grew up listening to Motown. My mom was a huge fan of Al. This brings back great memories. I’m so glad my mom had an appreciation for music. Our house was always filled with good music and dancing.

I was at Howard University Washington D.C in the mid 70's when this record came out. It became the favourite within the Nigerian communities and Afro Americans. Time has passed.
