Al Leone vs Team Italia | Full Team Matchup | AIGA Champion's League Qualifiers

Yo, Alberto here, Manager of Team Italy. Forming a Team in short notice with just italian grapplers - without having the possibility to hire any member of the previous Team who partecipated to the Trials in Turkey - competing against a team like Al Leone, huge brand with a bunch of superstars (and a huge financial gap) is not an easy task. So we voluntarily chose young italian grapplers (three of them are 19 yo and European No Gi Champions in the blue, purple and brown belt) to help them building experience at high level. All without reserves. We managed to take this challenge. The second day went better, and we won against Team Brothers, ending 2nd in the Group Stage. We learnt a lot from this event, and in the 2025 we will work really hard to bring the best Team Italy ever for the next Champions League in 2026. We will shock the world!

Italy isn't known for BJJ, and if they are all indeed from Italy, then that is a very organically assembled team. Whereas team Al Leone is handpicked by a brand from all over the world. That is inherently more likely to produce a better team. So yea I agree, respect to team Italia for taking on such stiff competition.
