I was wondering what happened to Justin since the whole internet went crazy over him 2 years ago. I'm glad to see he's doing well and still in the marching band in the college of his choice. It's pretty obvious that he loves what he's doing and he does it well. I never got it 2 years ago and I don't get it now why people keep bringing up his race. Let's just support his love and enthusiasm for what he's doing. 😊

To those making these negative comments about Justin have you ever seen this young man interviewed? He's humble and doesn't really want much attention. We all understand there are other drum majors. However let's keep it real. Who else came here because of him? People that have never even gave a crap about these bands. That are now interested and are actually watching other HBCU bands now. Just like myself. So don't get mad at him. He didn't asked to be featured on these videos.

People need to understand that if he likes being in a black college band, then he should go for it. If being in a band makes him happy then who are we to condemn this young man? When I was his age, there is no way in hades I could move like that. I don't see or hear any of the black band members or the blacks in the crowd complain about him being white. If being in that band is what he really wants to do, then he should do what makes him happy. I admire the blacks because they accepted him based on what he can do. The white people are the ones that have a problem with him being in a black band. The white people are mad because he has a talent that they wished that they had. I'm white and it will be a cold day in hell before I judge anyone due to the color of their skin.

I'm glad to see him back as a drum major. He is a good one. I don't pay attention to his race in all honesty once I got used to seeing him. He is very disciplined and his movements are so sharp. Being a drum major is a hard job. One I've never wanted as a band geek myself, and the competition to earn the spot is even harder. I applaud all of those who make it to that position.

Well I'm very proud of him. It is true that he could've picked any school but he chose an HBCU. Justin has always been very humble and publicly gives full credit to everyone never singling himself out. So leave him alone especially if you have something against a white boy going to an HBCU. He has worked hard and always put his all in what he did in high school. If he appreciates our culture of "marching band styles" then so be it. I'm sure he knew what going to an HBCU would intel being on the campus but yet he chose to go anyway. I commend him that takes guts walking into a college like that. And I do agree those folks are walking waaaayyyy to close to the students. It's not only safe due to covid-19 but it also looking disrespectful. I'm having g a hard time separating the crowd from the band it looks sooo chaotic. Please work on getting security to ride in golf carts along side or something. This is a poor attempt to protect the band and the girls to dance. Shameful.

It has nothing to do with him going to a HBCU. It everything to do with the channel making him head of attention, making it all about him while you have other drum majors working just as hard even harder and what about the head drum major. Before showtime changed the title they made it seem like he was the head drum major and even put his Instagram in the bio. Now how would you feel if you were the head drum major of the band.
@marcom6089
@marcom6089 3 жыл бұрын
@@StreetGodzillas Does it bother you that much when it is the other way around? Of course not. It wouldn’t bother you because you can always claim racism if a white guy said the exact same thing your saying. I think this has nothing to do with how the head drum major feels and more about your racist feelings and insecurities. The beauty of living in this beautiful country of ours is that if you don’t like this channel regardless of your insecurities, you don’t have to watch it. You can also put all that wasted anger of yours into something positive, like starting your personal KZbin channel and covering those who you feel are being left out. There you go. Your problem has been solved. You’re welcome.

@@XtremeSportX247 That's our style and it works for us. Southern stay ranked high amongst all bands. Not sure what you meant by follow the Dolls, but he leads the entire band by himself. He was in the trumpet section as a freshman and I think his original plan was to stay there. I guess he couldn’t not try out for DM as a soph. Don’t care what no one says as a person from the south where battle of the bands and band life is a thing I always come to see JUSTINE! Period! His color shouldn’t even be a conversation. He is talented, and devoted to his craft!!! In the 90’s Dillard High in Ft Lauderdale, FL had a panthers-ette (drum major) white girl and NO BODY WAS coming for her. That girl stole the show everytime!!!!! Talent is talent. No one has duplicated her since.

It's really sad reading so many negative comments about how much focus was placed on the white boy drum major (Justin) because of the college being an HBCU. 1- Alabama State University accepted him as a student. 2- He tried out for the ASU marching band, he was accepted. 3- He tried out for a Drum Major position, he was accepted. So many of you that made\make the negative comments about Justin are judging him because of being a white boy going to a HBCU and participating\contributing to ASU by way of his talent. Maybe you individuals that are judging him need to judge ASU, The Band Instructors, the choreographer, the judges that chose him out of all the other try outs for a position as a drum major, and judge the other drum majors, all the members of the ASU marching band, including the Stingettes for performing with him being a member of ASU marching band. I mean you might as well judge everyone and anyone that has any involvement with him. If I were a History teacher and was giving an exam on the history of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to those of you that are judging Justin. Every single one of you would fail. “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” “We must live together as brothers or perish together as fools.” “I have a dream that one day little black boys and girls will be holding hands with little white boys and girls.” Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

When he was in high school I've always said he was just a prop for the band, even before he became dm. He was the white boy that would come to the front and dance. When he was dm the other DMs waas way better but because Justin had clout they didn't give the real talented dms any attention. Tbh when Justin dance it looks forced and stiff. Please quit hating on people because of race or anything else for that matter. If you want the world to change and all of the messed up attitudes that are in it, then just pointing the finger at someone else isn't going to do it. We have to start with ourselves. Yes, there is a thing as "white privilege". But this kid has worked extremely hard and he clearly has a respect for the tradition. Give him his roses and let him shine.
@LucidDream
@LucidDream 2 жыл бұрын
No, there really isn't "white privilege". Money is privilege, not race. The struggle in life has never discriminated. Maybe when you wake up and stop using that term we'll be closer. I've never got through my life or been granted favor because I'm white. I'd love to know where this mythical privilege is, because I see people all around me suffering. So cut that bullshit out, it does nothing to bring anybody together.
@beeshor1
@beeshor1 2 жыл бұрын
@@LucidDream Yes, there is white privilege. If you were in an all-white neighborhood and someone who lived there didn't recognize you, would you feel as though they might call the police on you? That happens to black people EVERYDAY. We are assumed to be up to no good so we must first prove that we are OK whereas you will likely never have to confront that phenomenon. And that privilege extends into other areas as well. I'd be more than glad to point them out if you wish.

@@AndyKapp he got popular off a video that went viral and now has a large following. So by putting his name in the title he knew not only his fans would come but ppl who are upset with him being a white boy "infiltrating" black culture. More clicks more views but by what means. Plus why they changed the title and remove the other vid if it wasn't. Trust me because even when he went viral in that video from high school while he got alot of support there were alot of people that were being negative and immediately turned it into a race thing.

@@explorationofbeauty6406 So a black videographer makes money exploiting a white kid. And again I ask what’s your issue? I mean is this your first time on KZbin? That’s how this platform works. I don't think it takes nearly the talent to "strut and dance" as it does to play the tenors, snares, trumpets, baritones and the rest of the instrument the "musicians" play. I like the flash too but show the damn rest of the band sometimes.
