Amazing! My mother’s family is Swedish/Finnish from the Gulf Of Bothnia side. Now I understand why the landscape of Georgian Bay on the Great Lakes not far from where I live speaks to me so strongly. The rocks and water are just like this!

Bassholmen - my absolute favorite maritime museum. I am so truely impressed every time I have come here. We might even go there once again this summer. Another wellprotected anchorage is in Tjuvsund behind Kedholmen a little north of the museum and before you arrive in Lysekils Fjord. Very nostalgic for me to watch your beautiful movie…

Nordströmmarna and Bassholmen, is a really nice area. The museum is really nice, during summer there is a also a small ferry out from Udevalla for those not having there own boat. As Aladino must sure saw sadly the farming have made all much of they inner waters overground and almost lifeless. In the outer islands the water is more alive and much better. I'm happy you passed so late in the year as during the main summer months there are much, much more boats. The first night stay other around 10 boats, and getting to the longside mooring are almost impossible. So happy you got to see this part of Swedenm still warm and not overfilled with boats.

What beautiful film. When you were coming up through France, you had ample material to compile a story. Here in Sweden you have the beauty of the place and a sympathetic artistic eye to convey us with you. I was interested to see the Bolinder AB museum. The 9hp single cylinder engine was very popular in England for boats on the inland waterways. A canal boat equipped with such an engine could carry 25tons and pull a butty boat carrying a similar amount. They had a distinctive sound no other engine made the same sound. It sounded like it was 'missing' a firing sequence every now and then. There are some still in use in historic boats. If you ever come to England, seek them out. Thank you for taking us with you on your travels. Bon voyage and I wish you a happy and contented 2023.

Interesting and lovely as always. BTW the use of wooden "nails" to join timbers goes back a along way. In the UK in shipbuilding they were known a trennals, literally a corruption of the sound of "tree nails"!

Wonderful video. Congratulations. The wooden rivets are called “treenails” pronounced “trunnels” . The grain of the peg should always be at right angles to the grain of the plank to avoid splitting. Very efficient fastening. I’m writing this on 2 January so I wish you more success and adventures in 2023

Thank you Maya and Aladinho. Happy Birthday Dino. I found your channel sometime in late 2019 when Covid lockdowns began in earnest. I have followed along faithfully since then. The videos contain many beautiful passages for both the eyes and ears - my favourite being one in the canals of France where Magic Carpet glided under long canopies of overhanging trees. But the best parts of these works produced by you two revolve around the honesty, the realism and the emotional content of Maya's poetry/prose. I have retained some of these gems - but tonight''s was exceptional. Allow me to transcribe so that others can read and draw your words closer to heart, spirit, mind and soul: "Sometimes I wonder about the word "Adventure". I occasionally think that it always has to mean hardship or danger or overcoming something very big. But this wasn't that kind of adventure. This was a calm summertime adventure filled with excitement and delight. An adventure that filled the spirit, did not involve much adrenalin, just a few days in the late summer seeing new things, exploring new places, and looking at everything with the kind of wonder that I always used to see the whole world with." Thank you Maya for that. I am 78 years young. I have outlived my entire family. I may live a few more weeks; possibly many more years. But beginning tomorrow, I shall begin an earnest re-discovery of 'that kind of wonder that I always used to see the whole world with'. Thank you again. Happy New Year.
