Alan Wake 2023 Review

In this video I review the original Alan Wake and talk about whether or not it's worth a playthrough in 2023. You don't need to have played Alan Wake 1 to enjoy Alan Wake 2, but the first game is still a decent game in it's own right. In this video I try to give you a spoiler free idea of whether or not this game might be worth it to go back and play.

I really like all the world building in Alan Wake. The random conversations and radio stuff. A lot of it hints at what is going on or how other people experience it. I've been going through your playthrough(still haven't finished it yet) so I look forward to how you react to certain parts later on. You mention how long it has been between Alan Wake 1 and 2, I'd recommend playing Control. It takes place in the Alan Wake universe between the first and second games with lots of references. The AWE DLC is basically a playable trailer for Alan Wake 2. Control isn't as scary as Alan Wake, it's more creepy/eerie in tone. Doesn't really have stuff like jump scares. It's also more of an action shooter with superpowers. I still haven't gotten my Alan Wake 2 to work so I can't say if it has any impact on AW2's story, though.

Yeah I actually have played control! It was a lot of fun but I didn’t quite finish it. I may go back though and beat it now that I’ve done Alan Wake. There are some really fun parts in Alan Wake that I didn’t get to talk about in the video because of spoilers but yeah there are moments that where so much fun!

@@genjigearlive It's funny, I was watching your playthrough(episode 3) and literally like 10-15 minutes after I made that comment you made a reference to Control. I figured you hadn't played it because you didn't comment on any of the references that Control makes to things that have shown up to that point, but I guess if you hadn't finished it maybe you didn't get to those parts, or it just didn't stick with you because you hadn't played this game yet. Well, if you do decide to finish it, at least now you can get the references.

Yeah I played like 15 hours of it when it first came out. But honestly I was pretty lost with the story, I feel like I would have a much better grasp on it all now if I go back to play it!

I had never heard of this game until you told me about it, great video. Also yes! Loved loved loved Elden Ring. I would vote for it to be GOTY again if I could 😂

Oh yeah man, Elden Ring is the GOAT. I can’t wait for the DLC. This game is pretty cool too, it was an Xbox exclusive back in the day so a lot of people missed it.

The first game plays waaaay better than the sequel
