I had an extreme mushroom trip about 8 months ago, and in that moment I experienced timelessness spacelessness I was the beginning the of the time the end of time all events in between, exploding volcanos and supernovas, all power in the universe was flowing through me in that moment, I ripped my shirt off at one point and was screaming at the top of my lungs, and my friend said it looked like I had just injected steroids, I was portaling myself and whoever was in the room through dimensions with me, literally changing the entire world. Later I was removed completely from my ego, I was absolutely nothing I was a red ungulating cloud, in that moment I realized its all bullshit, its all fake, I couldn't believe it, I literally said out loud "wow", in that moment I realized I was god, that we all are, and that we are all experiencing this psychosis of believing you are who are, and believing this world is real. Its goes beyond that, to the answer of why all of this is here, but I wont tell you that answer, as I don't want to create immense sadness and anger in you, youll find that truth soon enough I don't need to ruin this game of life for you

The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend personal God and avoid dogma and theology. Covering both the natural and the spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things natural and spiritual as a meaningful unity. Buddhism answers this description. If there is any religion that could cope with modern scientific needs it would be Buddhism. - Albert Einstein

I think our understanding of "God" has been skewed to our own imagination, rather that what actually is. Typically one may view God as a great being in heaven who created, control, and take us to heaven/hell after we die. I dont' think Alan Watts views God in this sense, rather, an eternal energy, which we are a part of it in individuated form. Like a droplet of water is still the ocean. So we are expressions of energy (God) in human form and the universe is only complete with both you and I

Alan Watts speaks more or less in metaphors, and likes the act of talking, so in turn spends a lot of time "embellishing" his words. He's getting across ideas, not scientific facts. That's the point I think Dunst was making.

I remember Alan Watts talked about this once where people usually tell someone they are "serious" about something but instead they are sincere about it. For example, if I find a woman beautiful and I tell her that she is beautiful, she might ask "are you serious?" But truthfully I'm not "serious" about it I'm just being sincere telling her that. He used a very similar example I forgot which lecture it was from though.

There is no we or you. When I read your comment this is what I hear: I am just a tool. That is why I am here. I was born and learned to be a tool in society, then I'll bring more tools into this world and raise them to be good tools. That is why I am here. I find no meaning in life so that's how I interpret alan watts. I live for the sake of living, holding onto life in fear of what becomes of me when I die. Even though it cannot be avoided, I still cling to this pathetic life as long as I can.

I can tell you the meaning of life: A lot of it is self-evident, as ALL Life indicates its own meaning and purpose seeing that it evidences itself in the consistencies that display across all life. All life grows, progresses and learns. All creatures seek contentment, peace and happiness. All life seeks to progress itself by procreating / multiplying itself and helping others - mainly its own - to also progress. Our life is Not predestined. We progress and find happiness as we choose correctly and continue to grow. You might enjoy my upcoming book, "Winning", DH Towers. released August 2015 [Pub. Xlibris]

If you are referring to divinity in us, then this makes sense. However according to wikipedia's definition of "glorification of a subject to divine level" I might disagree as I don't think humanity should be glorifying themselves. In such case an individual may separate from the rest of the energy in the process of self glorification

ichabod smith's comments and many more people interpret this as Alan saying that humans are gods. What he is saying is in no way a Humanist philosophy, but rather a philosophy of reality. The western view of the word "god" is of a creator, someone who MAKES all of the details. What Alan and the eastern philosophies teach is that God IS the details, not some separate entity who created the universe. Alan says a lot "You and god are one." Well the definition of "you" he is referring to is that "you" can't exist without everything else, so you and everything else are one. Therefore, The statement "YOU and God are one" means everything is one, or connected. Science has proven this as well. The atoms and sub atomic particles look the same throughout the whole universe.

Many people could take it as: "We, humans are Gods". But what, in my understanding, Alan Watts is saying is, we are all a God. Not God in a well known sense with all the meanings attached. BUt a God, a conscious creative energy that expresses itself through every living organism. Everything we see, including ourselves is this energy with which we can create through our focus and intention. Our collective consciousness needs to evolve so we create life instead of destroying it.

My idea is that whatever the reason for us being here is, it's bigger than we can even concieve or comprehend. Our intelligence level is not one that can grasp the true nature of reality, existence, and consciousness. I think that it's a network of consciousness that is able to experience itself in different planes of existence and our plane of existence is as humans on a planet called earth.

All is one. This is the point. You are created within and by the universe as part of itself, so therefore you are the universe. You are not seperate from it - you are it and it is you. If you think then the universe thinks. The universe is pretty smart to have created you. If you keep denying that fact then you are extremely dim and need a little enlightening because that is the way it is.

One size fitting all in the "It's So Beautiful!" department is a spoiled thoughtless Western idea, a sock that fits few other feet than ours. How it must take our lazy minds off the 10-year-old slave girl sold to a man in Sudan. And so on. But don't let it bring y'all down! I'm sure it won't, since I can't set it to music.
