Alaska: 2 Days in Denali National Park - Travel Vlog | Denali Park Road + Savage River Loop
In this week’s video we’re in state #23… Alaska! More specifically, we’re in Denali National Park! Being the 3rd largest national park in the US and home to 39 species of mammals, 169 species of birds, and the tallest mountain in North America, it’s no surprise that the 6+ million acre Denali National Park absolutely lives up to the awe and wonder that have become synonymous with this magical place. We spent 2 days exploring the vast landscape and couldn’t even scratch the surface of just how grand it is!
Check out our “Denali National Park - 5 things to Know Before You Go” blog for tips on planning your Denali trip!

I do….I can’t believe I’m gonna put it here but a couple years ago while in Mexico with some friends we went on an excursion to go swimming with the sharks and sting rays and it just happened to be at that time of the month. So while I was swimming and very nervous about it already the sting rays kept like gliding up my legs and the several of the sharks kept being near me so I kind of freaked out and went to get on the boat. I got on and walked to where I was sitting and when I looked down I saw a puddle of blood that I trailed on the boat. The worst part was when everyone got on the boat and this guy said real loud somebody must be bleeding…I just pretended like nothing was going on but I was dying of embarrassment!🤪😞

Matt and Nat, I found you at Yellowstone when you were reviewed by someone. Glad I found you. Re. snow in May, mid March is when the Iditarod Dogsled Race takes place, which needs lots of snow, since Denali is in the sub Arctic. When I solo drove there from IL back in '84, I camped at Savage River Campground for 3 days. Like for you, it was amazing, even though I took the bus, getting as far as Eielson Visitors Center. Yes, what you saw were caribou--most likely cows, though some could have been bulls which hadn't yet grown their antlers. When I was up there, I saw a T-shirt that had a cartoon of a mosquito, and the caption read "Alaska State Bird". Matt, you nailed Nenana: knee-NAN-uh. Good job!😀 Great video! It brings back memories.

Great video! My best friend lives close to Anchorage so I’ve been blessed to have gotten to go to Alaska a few times. We went on a rafting trip this last June and a bear ran out of the woods to the water and grabbed a salmon out of the water with his mouth and then ran back to the woods. It was awesome and I got a great picture of it! I am so enjoying y’all’s videos!♥️

My sister and I and some friends took a 7-day Alaskan cruise in 2016. We decided to add a 7-day vacation to mainland Alaska from Seatle. We visited Anchorage, Seward, Talkeetna, and Denali National Park. We took the bus tour in mid-September and were lucky to see a Grizzley from 12 ft from the bus. I got a photo with my SLR, individual hairs can be seen on the bear. I want to go back there one day, it's a special place!

Matt and Nat, I liked each port we visited, but it's a toss-up between Juno and Ketchikan. We experienced all manner of weather on the cruise. It was 92 when we embarked from Seattle on September 15, 2016. Between destinations we experienced high, choppy seas one night, one afternoon featured fog so thick the ships were sounding their fog horns for about 45 minutes. That was fun, but a little scary since we could not see the other side of the deck. Going through Glacier Bay it was overcast and cold on deck, but everyone enjoyed it. Amazingly, the weather was great at every port of call... Skagway, Juno, Ketchikan, and Victoria, BC. I just discovered your videos when I was looking up Leavenworth Washington a week or two ago. Every video I watched so far has been captivating, keep up the excellent work and keep having fun!

Hey guys!! Great video as always. And I have great news!! There was a couple of bears sightings in your video that I can’t believe you missed. The first one there was a bear trying to sleep in the back of your rental car and Matt kept waking her up. The second one was a hangry bear out on the trail near the end of the video. I can’t believe you missed them 😂😂😂😂. Sorry, couldn’t help myself. But seriously it looks amazing in Denali and you guys are doing a fantastic job of capturing it for us. I’m sure Matt was wishing it was bird poop instead of bear spray but I think he’s earned the title of national spokesperson for bear spay safety 😳. But those are the kinds of moments in time that create memories that you can laugh about for years to come. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 your comment just made us laugh out loud!! Haha Yea, here’s to hoping his adventures calm down… I don’t know what more we can endure! 🤣 Matt said always keep the safety on your bear spray. That’s his one piece of advice for life hahaha & you are 1000% right, the scenery definitely made up for it! Thanks for watching man! Hope to see y’all on the patreon livestream again to hang!

If you do no mind me asking, what are your day jobs? Are you self-employed in which you can set-up your own vacation schedule?

We don’t mind at all! When we filmed this video, I (Matt) was a full time self employed musician and Natalie worked part time for an airline. Now (3 years later) Natalie still works part time for an airline just in a more limited capacity and I have moved into very limited, part time hours as a self employed musician since our Travel Content Creation (KZbin, Blog, etc) generates the majority of our income. Hope that answers your question! Thanks for watching!😊

@@AdventuresofMattandNat Nat always brings a smile to my face. The traveling is what many people dream of, but will never have the time to visit all fifty states. I like the videos as a quick, easy way to learn about the attractions in each states, places that I will likely never visit.

Yea, that was our mistake. We should have known better and set a better example. Thankfully, we've learned and grown a lot since filming this video nearly 3 years ago. We do appreciate you watching and apologize for our actions.
